weekend discussion: discuss the trial here #139

Don't apologize for disagreeing. It's what makes discussions interesting and stimulating.

I do know about the goofball photos and the monkeying around shots. I was referring to those photos of the two of them in which she's doing all the smiling and laughing. It seems to me those photos were taken by one of the two of them (arm outstretched) and he just didn't seem very happy in them.

The goofball photos seemed to be in groups with other people, as though he were really enjoying himself in spite of her clinging to him like a barnacle.

But of course as you pointed out, I do have blinders on when it comes to Jodi and a part ... ok almost all ... of my mind is closed to the possibility of any nonsexual happiness on Travis' part. That is definitely one dimensional.

I acknowledge your point. :toast:

OT, but i see you might be an audrey hepburn fan like me. have you seen the new 'vanity fair?' she's on the cover and there's a wonderful article about her, and an essay written by her son.

I thought the exact same thing! Using specific names was so mean spirited.

We now know which woman was a recovering anorexic, which was married at the time, and which had TA's head "between her legs" at some point. And the names were unusual enough to remove all doubt about just who ALV was talking about. If ALV is an example of DV counselors at their best, protecting victims' privacy must not be important.

This is where people turn into magnets and are placed onto various medal objects.

Love,
Ms. Beenupallnight

You know that place where you have had little sleep, not enough to pass out; too much to be cranky, yet just enough to feel drunk? w/o drinking anything?

Yeah, right about there.

Your explanation makes perfect sense. Kind of along the lines of a human cannonball.

It seems to me they watered down the facts they presented to ALV and told her to base her assessment on that alone and then they wagged a paycheck at her and she jumped. No critical thinking required on her part. She just drank the kool-aid.

ALV didn't just drink the kool-aid IMO. She set up her own factory to make a pro plus version, manufactured and bottled it and then tried to pour the drink down everyone's throat, and in the end she drowned in it

Last night I sat by my pool drinking White Merlot getting away from reality for a while, munching on chocolate chip cookies and thinking of AL. I was wondering what type of person believes JA was a victim, and Travis Alexander was the perpetrator. I’ve never been a greedy person, so it’s hard for me to understand her doing this for money. I don’t know if AL is the way she is because she herself was abused. She seems, to me to be a very bitter woman. I’ve been abused, by the male I was married to in the 70’s. In the 70’s it was not against the law for a husband to rape his wife repeatedly, whether they were living together or not. We were not. I don’t know if I want to cry or get angry, AL believes JA was abused because Travis SAID some MEAN things to JA. Because one time Travis did not say PLEASE. AL believes, even though JA was the one who shot Travis in the head, slit Travis’ throat, and stabbed Travis in the back she is the victim. Is this what is meant by secondary gain? For $300.00 an hour there are people who are considered to be experts, and these people will give their expert opinions agreeing with whoever will pay them? Well, I don’t know what type of person AL is, in my opinion she is a liar, in my opinion JA is not a victim.Travis is the victim, JA abused Travis and then she killed him. And now JA with the help of her DT and AL, she is abusing Travis’ family. But hey, that’s the law; criminals have all the rights and all the protection. Three times I have had to make the finale decision to end a life, first time was my Mom, second time was my brother, and then just last year my Dog Joey. It’s a terrible thing to have to do. Even after 14 years I still have problems dealing with my brother. Having said that, I do believe there are some humans who should be put to death, evil ones like JA. Pit Bulls are almost always killed when they attack and kill, I believe JA acted like a Pit Bull when she killed Travis, the only difference is, JA used a knife and a gun. bbl I need to get away from reality for a while :-)

Yeesssss! I saw it online and it's on my list to pick up today if I can pry myself away from this board.

Oh it wasn't rare, but I was led to believe she made it. To me I was being scammed, of just led astray?

The "handmade" was not clear from your post. Yes, that, too, would qualify as a scam: representing something as it is not.

Here is my prediction, and Jodi is already starting to plot it: When this whole thing is done and she is convicted, she is going to throw Samuels and ALV under the bus. She is going to come up with a fourth story ( Maybe Insanity) and tell the world the truth. That these experts came to her, told her to change her story from the Ninjas to being the Victim, and gave her the material to try to perfect her story. She will totally ruin their career and won't care because she knows that they used her for their own benefit. And of course, Nurmi and JW are going down too because she will expose them also, and Samuels and ALV won't even see it coming.

But I tell you, I can see it in her face, she is already plotting her next move.

She can talk but nobody will listen. She'll be alone in her cell without contact with any other prisoners and her case will sit at the bottom of a huge long list of cases to be appealed someday, when JA is 42. By the time she gets around to ruining their careers, they'll be retired or dead IMO. Her DT has gone above and beyond on her behalf which is why 'we' criticize them.

I'm not saying she's not plotting. I'm just saying it's JA that doesn't know what's coming and where she's going, everyone is a psychopath so the sweet angel voice isn't going to work on anyone IMO.

Hi ElleElle On the maricoba county superior court clerk case history log of ja case it looks to me that dt is trying to keep the weight limit of the shelves out of testimony.

Didn't it come out when JM crossed JA, that seems like a decade ago, but I think that is when she suddenly remembered springing lightly as a fairy and maybe gently holding with one hand while stepping on the shelf. Something like that anyway.:moo::moo::moo:

You should see some of our conversations downstairs in Websleuths chat! if someone came in and did not know each other and our personalities over the months we have been chatting, they would think that my slapping someone on the head with a trout actually meant abuse!

Well, ATL you ARE an abuser. We've all known that about you. But hopefully seeing it discussed on this forum will show the error of your ways. BTW, I think there's a therapist in Long Beach who's going to have a lot of free time available, if you're interested.

It took 9 years to get this woman, she used gas cans to cover her trail from CO to Topeka, KS just like Jodi and she stalked her ex-husband/GF just like Jodi, drove across state many times. One time they looked out and she was jumping on the trampoline in the backyard. Not a whole lot the cops could do cause you know, she just do so much without going over the line. Till one night they won a bunch of money in the casino, came home to her hiding in the closet already while swilling wine, and she shot them--over, over and over-kill. Her own kids tried for years to get her arrested. Thank goodness for '48 Hours' because the DA in Topeka, KS is no Juan Martinez. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20083461-504083.html

karen worswick harkness was a friend of mine in high school. we were in the same graduating class. she was a lovely, funny, warm person. she organized our reunions for years. everyone loved her. i didn't know mike at all but my best friend in topeka (who comes to see me every year) said he was a great guy. my best friend had a regular dinner club with karen and some of our other high school friends and they met monthly, so i kept up with news of karen through her.
i followed this case from the beginning. all i ever wanted was for this VILE, SICK woman to be held accountable for what she did so karen's father could die in peace. he is the one who never gave up----even after karen's mom died of alzheimer's following karen's murder, harold kept on going. he went to '48 hours' and got them to do the story, which really DID lead to the new D.A. in topeka deciding to prosecute. the topeka police department badly botched the investigation----they didn't find a half empty bottle of wine on the floor of the guest bedroom closet, which was most likely dana's, they collected no cigarette butts in the yard (she was a chain smoker and an alcoholic), for example.
and sweet karen deleted threatening phone messages she should have kept. like in this case, so much of dana's threats and harassment were hearsay mike and karen related to other people, it couldn't be used at trial.
anyway, nobody was more thrilled than me when this case went to trial and this demon was convicted.
and YES, it came down to GAS CANS!!!!!!!!

JA's hateful facial expression during the worst of the juror questions was telling. She was seething with rage. I expect an outburst pretty soon--she's so delusional and self-absorbed that she had no idea how badly her case was going until the jury asked ALV questions that hinted they were all pro-prosecution.

Jodi is an unstable, immature, hateful, narcissistic, self-absorbed monster. She stopped being a human being the minute she planned to murder Travis. She's not going to death row quietly, IMO. I kind of expect some temper tantrums in court--especially during the verdict reading & victim impact statements. I hope the court is ready to drop her with the shock belt!

Well, intentionally going psycho in court worked swimmingly in the movie Primal Fear: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primal_Fear_(film) Jodi's Myspace movie favs are partly for show in service to the image she wanted to project. She left off any with psycho main characters like herself, but I bet movies like Primal Fear and Jagged Edge, where the killer's perfect murder planning extended through the trial and beyond, held special appeal to her. Jodi's whole public life is an act she's been performing imo. The movie in her head will never end short of death.

Mine is either:

"It's not like he was saying, let's get down baby, right?" OR

"For realz"

Loved that ("let's get down, baby...")! It was epic. I need a video clip of that to bookmark!

I don't remember "for realz." For realz? :)

Honestly, a physics expert would be better.

The DT wants to keep it out because they know the gun did not come from there.

how much sense would it make for TA to keep a gun up there? if he needed to get to it to use it, he----at 185 lb.---would definitely have broken the shelf.

I haven't read the words in your link, but this pic really jumped out at me. The change in LAV is unreal.

jodialycedemeanor.jpg

I have always been leery of people who smile a lot when trying to make you believe something...

I didn't like her from day one....but I did try to keep an open mind...well the mind door slammed shut pretty quickly!!

I can't get out of my mind the thought of how many men may have been falsely accused, confirmed by her, and possibly imprisioned of child or spousal abuse (she said she mainly testifies in family court) how frightening is that!!

ALV was willing to throw anybody under the bus to "save" JA. Funny when asked to identify names she testified for/against in a criminal proceeding...she sited confidentiality. And then even more interesting in relation to men she testified for in a criminal proceeding...there were none...it was a written report...but ALV couldn't recall his name.

But she tossed out names to help JA even when she could have chosen discretion.

And this is the same woman who said the name of a man she "testified" on behalf of in CRIMINAL COURT was likely confidential....

Juan's dedication to truth, justice and reality

I know this might be the word phrase thingie...he is fighting so hard for Travis.

Its your fog

To alv...did you ever interview Snow White or the seven dwarfes?

Are you an orgasm expert?

Good morning peeps!!
Slept like a LOG!!!
I was trying to describe ALV's testimony to a friend who has been away. The basics of WHY she testified, and her REASON for testifying.
It made me realize something.

In my estimation, ALV's purpose was to show that JA was SO "battered", that at the time of her murdering Travis, she responded as a battered woman would. Is that right?

Because she barely TOUCHED on the murder itself!! I was expecting her to say, when Travis (supposedly) lunged at JA, all of these memories came flooding back, and she just LOST it. That her years and years (lol) of abuse (lol) caused her to see all of that horrible abuse (lol) to come flooding back.

Not only did JW NOT bring that up, but when a juror specifically ASKED if JA snapped, ALV rather denied it???

Are we to believe she was a battered woman, but it had noting to do with the murder??
ALV certainly didn't connect the dots if that's what she was trying to convey.

I have found that explaining the proceedings to someone who knows nothing, or very little about the case, necessitates you to really think about the testimony, it's impact, and the quality of said testimony.

ALV's testimony sucked.
i really think Alice is a nice woman and is really good at her work of counseling dv couples and most of the things she talked about related to dv make sense. I just don't see how dv applies to this case. I think it was a mistake of the defense to use her testimony.
