Yes. From all the reading I did trying to figure out what they would need the actual phones for. . .it seems old texts, current ones would still be available, and the contact list. Also, depending on the phone company and the phone settings, photos.

They would also need the actual phone to be able to see if it was tampered with in any way.

So they COULD get current texts without the phone? That gives me the creeps a little

They keep the actual content of the text for up to two weeks....the number texted for much longer. I learned this yesterday from the case about a woman whose skivvies are in a knot because her 18 year old daughter is living with her ex-teacher. She'd found 8,000 text messages on her daughter's phone.

Anyway, the expert on the show says two weeks for actual text messages.

JMHO, I think LE thinks one of those phones was tampered with.

ETA- I just saw vlpates post above. And yes, from how I was understanding it, it's just a matter of luck as far as how far back they can still get the text messages. Meaning, they should be able to go back two weeks, but for some reason, sometimes they can go back much longer.

True, but they would have to be some kind of monsters to be able to carry on drinking, working, chatting...while their daughter lay dead in her bed. Even the cashier at Festival Foods said Deb was perfectly normal and said the kids were great when asked. I would think there would be SOME sign of stress, anxiety, emotions of any kind. I just don't seem them as cold hearted monsters able to carry that off.

Oh, I have studied human nature my entire life and in my career have had to study it. Some human beings are incredibly adept at doing whatever it takes to get the desired result. There are many many examples out there of people acting completely opposite of the way that they should be acting in any number of scenarios.

Although there definitely ARE monsters out there who kill their children, I don't feel this is the case with JI and DB. I believe that Lisa died as a result of an accident and JI and DB did what they felt was going to help them keep their other children. It had to be so negligent that it would have caused them to lose their other children.

Let me correct myself - the mother found there were 8,000 text messages executed, she could not see any of the actual text messages, just the numbers from which they originated. I think she saw them from the past few weeks.

I just can't get Casey Anthony out of my mind and seeing her on video that night at the video store and only a few days later dancing on the tables. You could be right, but I just think that the key is JI and DB being so glued together. I mean, if all of this was staged, DB pretty much HAD to act her part. Stranger things have happened and people can do unexplainable things when they are under pressure.

IF Jeremy had nothing to do with whatever happened to Lisa, then WHY is he supporting Deb ?

And vice-versa :

JMO but IF it was STAGED between BOTH DB and JI -- I think they would have had more time to get their "stories" straight ... there is just too much "hinky dink" changing of the "stories" and the "timeline" between the two, along with IMO very "odd looks" that they give each other when the other speaks ...

I just wish there was someone CREDIBLE who can say WHEN was the LAST TIME Lisa was seen ALIVE -- JMO but unfortunately, I do not believe she is no longer alive ...

and speaking of KC: someone asked if anyone knew of other cases where a SO supported the perpetrator re: a fake story... KC didn't have a SO, but i firmly believe one -if not both- parent(s) went along with the kidnapped story after realizing what the smell in the sunfire really was...

BBM2. . .I'm not convinced she is covering for JI. If she was,why not say she was awake when he arrived home? That would be an even better cover. She's not. She says she was sleeping so she really doesn't know when JI arrived. I think DB's inconsistencies have to do with her covering for being a "bad mom." She lies about anything that will show she has a problem with alcohol and that she wasn't really supervising the kids that night.

But in a sneaky round about way JI isn't supporting her. He came out with that statement very early that he was cleared, everybody else was cleared except DB. LE has said nobody has been cleared. Why would he do that? It's almost as if he was throwing her under the bus a little bit there.

JI has never defended her drinking. When the Festival Foods video came out and DB was having to explain herself and defend her actions that night, JI never once came to her defense. He could have said he lives with her and knows her and knows she doesn't have a problem with alcohol, but he doesn't. He just sat there while she was struggling to defend herself.

IIRC I can't think of a time when JI had defended DB, just for the sake of defending her. It looks like he defends her sometimes, when it is self serving to him.

I guess it's a matter of perception, or how one wants to perceive it. I didn't see it as anything other than saying DB didn't have an alibi other than she was sleeping at the time so local LE were focusing on her.

But he bothered to tell us that everybody else was cleared? We don't know if anybody's alibis are air tight. . .but JI tells us. . .Yep, everybody but Deb. I don't see how that is supporting her.

The fact that they are still together tells me he still believes in her and the SODDI story. I don't know how much more he can do to "defend" her than what he is doing, sticking by her side.
