JMO. That is just not true and he knows it. Of course it does.
There is just no way that people are equally great parents while drunk or blacked out. They become less attentive, more accident-prone, more impulsive, more negligent in taking care of essential security such as locking doors, less caring about mundane routines like their children's evening snacks and bedtimes, more likely to go to bed without saying goodnight while your guests are still there, less likely to hear intruders walking in, less likely to be able to give the police essential information if something happens to the child...Also sometimes more violent. Babysitters were invented for a reason.
I don't understand this nonchalant reaction at all.
He entrusted his only daughter in the care of a woman who proceeded to get drunk and possibly blacked out and the daughter disappeared and he's just, like, whatever, it doesn't matter.
The only people whose parenting doesn't change for the worse while drunk and blacked out are the people whose parenting was rather bad to begin with.
