I'm just not getting this. TWO months later, and they're asking for people to remember details during a 30 minute time frame. Gates' comment that he remembers everything he did on June 4th? Well, yeah. He was involved in this case. He's going to remember. I wonder how well he remembers everything he did and saw prior to the call that afternoon? How detailed and specific is his memory for any given 30 minute block of time that morning? Or the day before? And they aren't asking for people to recreate their own movements at that time, but to recall other's presence, movements, etc.
At the time these parents / staff / visitors were in the lot, there was no hint anything was wrong. Chaotic, exciting morning. Parents and visitors at that time would have been focused on their own child's projects, perhaps rushing in so they could view exhibits and then get to work on time. No one was focused on Terri's truck or watching for suspicious activity. No reason to.
Even witness statements made on Sunday just two DAYS later could have been flawed. Now they expect people to recall such detail and btw make it specific to a 30 minute window of time? After two MONTHS? Are they kidding me ????
Good post.
Also, Gates is a well-trained observer. Cops have a tendency to watch and note everything, even off-duty. That's why the expression "cop eyes" is so true not only in how their eyes look sometimes, but how they are always aware.
I agree, they could have been at this point earlier. But they were focused on investigating and proving "evil stepmother offs kid", and I also agree with those who think that attitude was fueled not only by stereotypes (stepmother, last person to see victim is the perp), but by DY (a lot via TY, too, using his status) and KH.
Gates did a good job. He's got a knack for it.
As far as white truck & someone inside--I don't yet want to type out my scenerios, still meditating. But if that truck was unlocked, my $ is on the perp, someone who's yet unknown. Yes, I'm still considering a pedophile.
As for anyone in the vicinity of the truck--weren't there like 300 people or so at that science fair? A lot of to'ing and fro'ing. I get what they're trying to say, but I think it was a little clunkily said.+
I'm also not concerned about where TH parked at the store. That photo shows a parking lot with a lot of empty spaces up front. There are times around here that you can't find a parking space close, and it's not always just right after work, either. And even if she chose to park further out, as others have noted, there could be many reasons. Now, if she'd pulled into a far, far corner overshadowed by trees and covered the truck up with its car cover, that would have been different. Ahem.
I really want to know if that truck was left locked or unlocked. That's key, pardon the pun.
And, remember Kyron's friend who said he saw Kyron after TH left, and was, IMHO, kinda blown off? Isn't he the one that said he saw "the white truck"? At the time, I thought that phrasing was very strange.
He didn't say he saw "Mrs. Horman's truck," "Kyron's mom's truck", "kyron's truck", etc. Nope. He said he saw "THE white truck." Did he see or unconsciously notice something that was different or weird but couldn't quite articulate it (AKA put his finger on it in a kid kind of way, not expressing self well tonight, arrrgh).
The longer this goes on, the more pieces are mounting up that to me indicate a pedophile.
And, truthfully, I don't see TH, DD, or her cadre of friends really capable of planning and staging an almost "to the minute" Mission Impossible/James Bond plot. As I'd theorized before, I could see one scenario where TH accidentally hits Kyron with the truck when he runs back out as she's gunning it, he's killed, she's been drinking, and panics. Slim chance, but that's one scenario. Then calls DD to help. But is a cop's daughter dumb enough to then start helping with toting and burying a kid's body? I doubt it.
Sorry if I lumped a lot together. Feeling wretched, 104 actual today, has flared my rheumatoid arthritis. Blech.
Today my cleaner/personal assistant was here, just as the presser started. AFterward I told her the whole long story. She was flabbergasted. And now and then she'd interrupt and say "but what about the KID?" Or "9 weeks and they don't know anything?"
What about the kid? Indeed, I said. That's the essential thing in the midst of all this soap opera. (For the record, she only heard one thing that made her ponder about TH and her account. And she's a sharp cookie, let me tell you! So she's on the fence too. LOL)
