I'm guessing it must have been a male.

I think so, too.

They might not if they truly believed that what they were doing was in the best interest of the child. I find that easier to believe than that three people involved in a child's murder. (Off hand, the only cases I can think of with that many people involved in a murder were either gang or cult related - which wouldn't appear to be the case here.)
Are we supposed to believe the suburban housewife had a veritable Breakfast Club of people willing to involve themselves in a felonious act on a child of a Friday morning? It is too outlandish for me.
I am scared if LE has no idea who this person is they think they are looking for, after all this time. They should know every single person Terri has had in her life in any way, for the past year or two at least, with the FBI in on the act, etc...The FBI can usually figure out who terrorists are talking to and meeting with secretly, but not Terri Horman?
How many times can LE prod the public's memory without it becoming a little bit ridiculous? Sooner or later, some clown out there will hit on the right description that LE seems to be looking for, just by process of elimination. Seems like the defense at a trial would have a good time with all of this.

And, let's not forget, the batphone plan wasn't exactly a success.
One of my problems with "Terri did it!" has always been that she's required to be both ends of the spectrum at the exact time -- meticulously planning and carrying out this abduction and possibly murder, leaving behind no evidence or trail that ties her to the crime or crimes, but completely inept in everything that followed.
Unless the bat phones were a red herring that LE was supposed to find. One would think that if this WAS planned in advance, she would have bought phones in advance - maybe the 2nd set that the friends bought were supposed to be "caught," knowing the police would keep looking until they found SOMETHING - but LE still doesn't have the "real" secret phones.

Cypress Youve put your finger on the problem I have with the Terri plus accomplice scenario. When the murder for hire and sexting with the landscaper surfaced, I thought the case would crack wide open in brief amount of time. Terri left a trail the width of I-5 that led straight to her door. They found the landscapers number in her phone record. When a husband is murdered - and the wife has an alibi - the next place LE looks is at her contacts and associates.
LE is up against a brick wall if Jasons suggestion that they search the property of DeDes aunt is among the most promising of the 4,000 tips they have. It would require untraceable communication and split second timing for Terri and an accomplice to executed the kidnapping and disposal of Kyron, and leave no solid evidence behind. I dont believe that Terri has the brains, balls or discipline to pull of a Ted Bundy style kidnapping.
I know this belongs on the theory thread but I think this will turn out to be much simpler, albeit tragic; either a morning gone horribly, hideously wrong w/Terri or a predator "doing his thing" on a hectic morning, in and out without raising an eyebrow. No grand schemes, hence no slick cover-up or alibi, just Keystone-type antics from Terri nd friends.
If LE doesn't think Dede was in or around the truck at Skyline that morning, but felt strong enough about her presence in or around the truck sometime that day to distribute questionnaires about her to the community, does that now mean LE believes three people are involved in Kyron's disappearance?
