Wisconsin statutes currently do not allow subjects to be held without bail, and to do so would require a massive overhaul of the current judicial code. I have a feeling that as the death toll rises there will be more and more money tacked onto this ***’s bail amount.

We always forget the gravity of the wounded. Often they are in critical care in danger of dying. Sometimes even maimed for life with missing limbs or severe organ damage. Not to mention the emotional toll.
That perp needs to be locked up and the key tossed into the ocean.

I hope all survivors heal with little or no long lasting physical effects. If any of them have head injuries, it could be a very long recovery, if not permanent disabilities.

I haven't made any comments so far, as I have been trying to get my head around this horrific event.

A community of people celebrating with a Christmas parade...residents, families, children, a day of happiness and pride, only to be annihilated and traumatized by this psycho and his heinous crime. Why? What did any of this people ever do to him? I can't comprehend the hatred and degeneracy.
Six killed by this maniac, including a little boy, 62 injured, many in the ICU, many who will have life changing injuries.

I just watched that hearing. Who was that woman sitting next to him, his attorney? Can someone explain to me why she patted him on the back and put her arm around him? Is that a tactic or something? I had such a visceral reaction to that.

My heart goes out to all the victims, their families, the whole community. I am so sad.
May that Brooks creep suffer for the rest of his miserable life. With his record of violence he should never have been on the streets in the first place.

I suppose they have initially determined that he wasn’t inspired by extremist ideology, therefore not terrorism. Just a run of the mill mass murderer. But as another poster said, the Feds are involved. More charges may come.

I watched parts of the court proceeding.

I like this judge. He had no problem with the $5 million bail. He’s never seen a crime of this magnitude in his nearly 40 years in court. He stated that family of victims are allowed to speak at any proceeding. No family member chose to speak today. Not surprising - they are busy burying their loved ones or sitting at the hospital praying bedside that their family member lives another day.

DB was rocking, hanging his head down, and he possibly was crying. I think he had a bulletproof vest on.

The preliminary hearing is set for January 14 at 9:15 am.

More like a domestic terrorist type with an added injustice collector mindset, who was out of control ?
Someone who blamed others for his own failings ?
Certainly no less dangerous than any other acts committed against large groups of innocent people.
Hope he's looking forward to a lengthy prison sentence, as it looks like that's what the consequences are going to be for this perp !

Could the strategy be intended by the defense attorney to gain the trust of the perp, rather than to sway the court? She has to know he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of beating these charges. Best they can hope for is for her to convince him to plead guilty, show remorse, own his motives, and then go quietly to prison for life. Spare the court system the time and money to put him on trial.

Yes, I considered it could be a strategy for the perp to gain her trust and talk. She must be gutsy if that's the case because there's no way I could manage that pretense.

They had someone following the vehicle. He was parked right in this dudes driveway - the homeowner had not been at the parade and did not know about the atrocity that was committed just minutes earlier.
