00:00 am 12/14/05
CALEY MEALS and LISA SCHUETZ Wisconsin State Journal

FITCHBURG - Police have arrested the last person known to have been with Angela Drake, an Oregon woman who hasn't been seen since leaving a Fitchburg bar early Friday.
Michael Desalvo, 24, of Fitchburg, was arrested at midnight Monday in connection to drug charges in Dane County Circuit Court as well as a probation violation connected to felony theft charges in Minnesota.

Desalvo and Drake left the Dry Bean Saloon on Verona Road at 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Drake, 25, had met best friend Tonya Turchik, 24, of Fitchburg, at the bar at 10:15 p.m. Thursday. Turchik said she left the bar at 11:30 p.m. when Drake was talking to a man named Oliver. Police said he's no longer a suspect.

"I felt comfortable leaving her there because we go there all the time and she was just going to meet me at my place later," Turchik said.

She said Drake did not know Desalvo and was not dating anyone.

Petra, to answer your question... Yes and No. Allied Drive is not too far away, the same general area, BUT... and this is a huge exception-- no woman I know who doesnt LIVE there would choose to go there at night if they knew the area at all. This girl would have known that you dont go down there after dark. (I avoid the area day, night or anytime in between). But, no, it's not too far away. It sounds to me like Angela left with this DeSalvo guy and he'll be the one who knows what happened. From what I understand too, is that she was only going a couple of blocks from the bar to her friends house, and Allied Dr isn't that close if I remember correctly.

thanks msshelia...always helps to get a locals viewpoint.

i think you are right about the POI....
i bet you that poor oliver, the first named, won't be going to the bean for a while.

I agree w/Mssheila...no woman would walk through there at night, let alone day if she were familiar w/the area! In the past few months or so I think it was like 2 cab drivers were either robbed or shot....I can't remember which one! But just imagine they were in their cars!!! Yikes...I won't even go through the drive thru McDonalds over there!

On Wednesday, investigators returned to the home of Michael DeSalvo, the man prosecutors say is a suspect in the disappearance of Angela Drake.
I am not sure if this was one of the news articles. Where is she. I am praying that several missing are found before the holidays.

27 News Learns Missing Woman
Spotted After Bar Time
Fri 12/16/2005 -
One week after Angela Drake's disappearance, 27 news has exclusive, new information, on this young woman's actions, after a night at a Fitchburg bar.

27 News spoke with Tom Allen, who is one of the people sharing a Fitchburg duplex with Michael Desalvo.

Assistant Dane County District Attorney Mike Verveer called Desalvo "indeed a suspect" in the disappearance of Drake.

Authorties have said Drake was last seen leaving the Dry Bean Saloon, a suburban bar, with Desalvo on Dec. 8.

Allen told 27 News Desalvo and Drake ended up at the men's duplex.

Allen remembers Drake's country karaoke singing at the Dry Bean.

And how Drake joined his group of friends, including Desalvo.

Allen says Drake was intoxicated enough, that his group offered to help her out. "If she needed a place to stay, she could come back to our house and sleep it off, and then someone could give her a ride home."

Allen says Drake left with his roommate.

Allen says a short time later, the entire group was back, at their Fitchburg home.

The Fitchburg home, which has been searched, inside and out, by police officers.

Allen says, one of his roommates saw Drake, in Desalvo's room.

"She was on the bed and she was on her back on the bed, lying down" said Allen.

Allen said he went to bed.

The next morning, Allen watched Desalvo come out of his room. Alone.

"He told me that she was no longer there, he took her where she needed to go, that everything was okay," Allen told 27 News. "That she was where she needed to go."

"I don't recall exactly where he said he took her," said Allen.

Vigil last night: http://nbc15.madison.com/home/headlines/2085872.html

"The hope is ... we're still up there at a pretty high level," said Tim Olson, Drake's stepfather. "We haven't dropped off, and some people are 'how you doing it?' and it's because of all the support."

I want to thank the room for taking such an interest in my niece's dissappearance. Angela is a bright and wonderful person. It is nice to see such a watchful community. I feel a little helpless out here in Colorado, so keep up the watchful eyes out there. This is my brother Larry's daughter that we are talking about.

Only want one thing for Christmas,

JD
