I’ve been wondering the same thing. I wonder if she can put him in the other room for the duration of the trial.
well she can hold him in contempt of court which he is but she has stated reasons not to do that.
The Darrell Brooks defense is almost here. Expect one of these upon resumption of trial:

Illness
Injury
Outraged Outburst, removal from the courtroom

The creature that is also known as DB has no intention of following instructions and being told what to do. He will not comply. I will not be surprised if he ever gets to an opening statement today.
MOO
I am fully expecting something other than DB getting up there and giving an opening statement. I think he told the judge he "is informed" about "subject matter" etc. but will say whatever he wants to the jury. He is now looking often to the ceiling..I think it signals he knows the end is coming and he has no case. I wonder if the public defenders had in all that info sketched out potential open and closing arguments and if he will rely on that or go rogue. My bet is on rogue and hope the deputies are ready. I bet some is jury are pretty nervous to be in the same room with this madman.

'Just about time to start the afternoon megapint moments!

I get it. Mr. Brooks knows he is going to prison for the remainder of his years, so he has nothing to lose by being obnoxious.

I think his defense is that he does not exist. That is why he objects to being called by his name.

I have been watching the trial since the beginning and like others have said, it is dreadful…but…you just can’t help but watch.
I was thankful the prosecution voiced their displeasure with having to put up with this crap and also pointing out to the judge that SHE is in charge of the court not Brooks.
It will be interesting to see if his opening statement is all about sovereign citizenship. I hope the judge won’t allow it. This trial is supposed to be about his guilt or innocence on running people over in the parade.

this judge is very prompt so already we are after starting time....hum...now she ready and after 1.5 hours he is locating some files. Oh boy.

  • #747
You're stalling, hop to it Mr Brooks!

  • #748
Here we go with the delay tactics. He’s having problems locating some files.

  • #749
Oh lordy! It's the " somebody took my files" defense!!

Let the melt down begin.

I will be interested in what the "defense" plan is...because the witnesses so far were very emphatic that DB was driving the SUV at the time of the massacre.

Judge to Jury: "The defendant will now make an opening statement"

Defendant says he will "speak from the heart."
Here goes!

It's like driving by a car accident. You know it's bad, you don't want to see bad things, but that morbid curiosity makes you look, and you just can't look away.
I have been so angry at his disrespectful behavior I have yelled at the tv, yet I can't change the channel.

He will be a jailhouse hero for making it so expensive to prosecute him.

An “emotional” 3rd party intervenor….does anyone see any tears?

Edited to add: OK looks like there are real tears…wow…he’s feeling sorry for himself here! Classic!

  • #756
Whoa!! Is he actually confessing?

NO!

Now he’s even using a Kleenex

  • #758

Why does Janice Joplin's Cry, Cry Baby keep running through my head?

  • #760
He does sound heartfelt. I am crying.
* I am crying for the victims
he may be crying for himself.
