Listening to the extent of the medical care required for some of these people I have to assume that many had to go to Milwaukee or further. Waukesha hospital must have been overwhelmed for months after this. Many are describing multiple surgeries .ie 12 and more. Wow.

Wow that last statement was powerful...calling the monster right out. Good for her. I had no idea until today just how severe those injuries were to so many and of course that impacted their entire family. Very strong people that spoke today.

DA is ripping him a new one now.

Per judge, only 3 individuals will speak on behalf of Mr. Brooks tomorrow. No written statements have been presented. Hmmm. Guess the rest called in sick.

Well that was fun to watch Opper with nothing to lose went after him..bet that felt good for her. I loved it. I think the judge will do the same. Now down to 3 zooms....wonder who the third is. Tomorrow going to be something...he is speaking...that will be rough to watch.

Sue Opper's descriptive words of DB:

Manipulative, Chicken, and Void of character.

BOOM!!

Yes, very powerful. I was not aware of the extent of the injuries either. Brain injuries can be so devastating.

We will watch him throw dirt in the grave of any hope he thinks he has for anything less than the maximum sentence.

As the DA phrased it, his "void of character", condemns him.

Just my thoughts.

DA Sue Opper finally brought the heat! I was disappointed by her closing and she def redeemed herself today!

She got his goat! I loved it! Morally bankrupt, narcissistic coward, evil, void of character! The weakest person in the room!! INDEED! He wanted to go to the other room and judge said nope, you are not in control!

So starting at Noon tomorrow with Mom, Grandmother who will both read statements on zoom...maybe one other ...I think these will be short and then for the grand finale we have DB who will get his last chance to insult his victims and in fact the entire justice system.

I am waiting for Brooks, as a final insult, to do a "full moon" dance. Are his pants held up in any way?!

It will be interesting to see which direction he takes.

Will it be a temper tantrum that everyone is against him, or, will he have the fake tears of how a harsh sentence will hurt his family? He may do both.

I certainly don't see him acting like a man, taking responsibility, being sincerely remorseful, and asking for forgiveness. That is not in him.

Just my thoughts.

Court record lost

We may never know why bail was set at $1,000 in the Milwaukee County domestic violence case.

Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm called the bail his office recommended for Brooks just days before the parade "inappropriately low," so why, despite a pretrial risk assessment that said he was very high risk for committing a new crime, did Court Commissioner Cedric Cornwall go along with it?

FOX6 wanted to know, so we asked for a transcript of the hearing and learned it doesn't exist.

--------

When the assistant district attorney charged Brooks with his second violent felony in two years, she failed to even look at his pretrial risk assessment because, Chisholm said, she was overloaded with other cases.

"When I first ran in 2007, l made a promise to the community to identify people by risk," said Chisholm. "You had a young ADA trying to do the very best she could under difficult circumstances, and she made a mistake."

I am curious if watching his reactions yesterday had an impact on his family. His mother stated in her interviews that she did not watch the trial, so it is unclear if she would watch the sentencing. In my opinion, his mother seems like someone who has had to deal with a family member with a personality disorder for many years. I have experienced this first hand and if this is the case with her, the person with the disorder can distort your whole view of reality. The longer you are away from them, the more you are able to see the bigger picture. Eventually you start to realize some people are beyond help, because they are unwilling to help themselves.

That said, I am not convinced his family will show up. Just like at trial. JMO

the judge told him clearly yesterday during another of his melodramatic apologies to her that the apology needs to go to the VICTIMS. I do think he is delusional enough to think that judge may be lenient with him and might just attempt some apology. The most leniency he will get is TIME SERVED which should really help him out. Keyword in sentencing will be consecutive and no chance of parole. Sue Opper made such a good point..anything else would place a higher value on one of the victims over another. Never happen. I have also got the impression he will not really be in any sort of therapy but not sure how all of that works
