Is Jesse Vang the caregiver who reported him missing?

No other news outlets have picked up the story of the mom and JV's arrest. Considering how many community members are reportedly searching, I'm a little surprised there hasn't been a press conference. Maybe LE is pushing for a confession :(

Note that this is from 2002 (22 yrs ago), but he was arrested for statute 948.03(2)(b) - Child Abuse-Intentionally Cause Harm. While that has nothing to do with this case, or this child, it does speak volumes as to what sort of person Jesse Vang may be, and what he could be capable of. He was pretty young when this happened (18).

Direct link, although you might have to start at the beginning and search for the case number, hence me SS'ing it above to save folks the potential hassle.

A NOTE TO THE TWO RIVERS COMMUNITY
As all of Two Rivers continues to wish and pray for a positive outcome to the search for Elijah Vue, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the response that we have seen from law enforcement and other first responders.
Many, many agencies have come together with an incredible array of resources, in a short period of time, all in the interest of finding this beautiful little boy. And while it breaks our hearts to see this happening in our city, residents should be pleased and reassured to see the level of cooperation and coordination taking place among assembled Federal, State and local agencies.
This ongoing search includes a law enforcement team consisting of the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, Two Rivers Police Department and many other local agencies that are coordinating efforts.
Thank you also to the hundreds of local residents who have taken to the sidewalks, streets, fields and forests around Two Rivers, as citizen volunteers joining in the search for Elijah. You are again demonstrating the kind of community we live in--a community that cares about the well-being of ALL of its members, whatever their age. That's Two Rivers.
There will be an update from law enforcement to the press and the community some time later today. Please be patient as the various agencies keep their main focus on the all-important search for Elijah. They all recognize the community's desire to know more about the status of this matter, but need to be very prudent in what information is shared regarding this ongoing search and investigation.
I will defer to Police Chief Ben Meinnert for a more complete thank you to all of the agencies and individuals involved in this search, at a later time--but wanted to take a moment to acknowledge a truly amazing response to a very, very difficult situation.
As these efforts continue, we want to emphasize the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive. We urge anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to please come forward and share it with law enforcement immediately. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be the key to bringing Elijah home safely.
Greg Buckley
Two Rivers City Manager

Per the link to Two rivers City Hall FB page LE will be providing an update to press and public later today

Other arrests were things like Aggravated Battery, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Possession of Cocaine, Manufacture/Deliver Cocaine, Battery by Prisoner, Fleeing an officer and Criminal Damage to Property. Interestingly the newest one was 2007 which was quite a while ago. Perhaps he lived in another state after that, so his records wouldn't be found in WI records? Or perhaps he was in prison for a time. I just can't see a repeat offender of the above named crimes turning over a new leaf, although I suppose he could. Just not where I'm placing my bet. ;)

All found here and including his BD to rule out others with the same name:

I vote for a long prison sentence in 2007. This would be 14 years on from then, so a major drug charge +assault could do that.

“We haven’t found out anything new. It’s the same thing as last night. I think from what the detective told us this morning, they’re basically doing searches all over again. At this point, more family members are here and we are just trying to support each other asking the community if they have any information,” said Orson Vue.

Orson Vue is Elijah’s uncle and says the family is doing everything possible to stay positive as an extensive search is conducted, involving volunteers from across Northeast Wisconsin.

“We’re extremely worried, we’re all emotional at this point, at the moment,” said Orson. “And we don’t want to think of the bad stuff that may have possibly happened to him and we’re hopeful.”Elijah Vue: Search for missing Two Rivers boy moves into second day

So no one is talking yet.

I don't think a parental abduction seems to make any sense, with one parent in prison and the other living at the apartment.

I do believe that the little shoe that LE found in or nearby the dumpster belonged to him. Bad, bad sign.

Did they have outstanding warrants or something? Or can you arrest people without charges in WI? Im sure the police have their reasons.

Wisconsin can hold for 48 hours. Statute 970.01 link: Wisconsin Legislature: 970.03(6).

And ETA: I didn’t see any warrants on CCAP. Most are listed on the site, unless it’s something “family court” related.

“Elijah’s extended family hasn’t had contact with him or his parents for the past couple years.”

Family came in to help search so they appear caring. I wonder what caused such a long time of no contact.

Thanks. That 48 hour hold would be so helpful nationwide.

The mother of a three-year old boy reported missing in Two Rivers was booked into the Manitowoc County Jail overnight. Katrina Baur appears on today’s prisoner listing from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.

A man who lives at the same Mishicot Road address from where Elijah Vue went missing Tuesday morning, Jesse Vang, was also taken into custody last night.
Oh how I wish I was even the tiniest bit surprised. When I saw his beautiful little face I knew heartbreak was coming.

Has anyone seen anything about “more information” coming today? The city and police’s FB posted that more info to be released later.
