Where do you go in Namus to find these rule outs? Would help me while I'm working on cases.
Create an account, you will see a new tab on the individual pages that says comparisons. You can only see it when logged in.

Yes the pointy chin fits. But for some reason I thought the reported WI/MI missing have all been checked, but not sure.

I don't think so. Each check costs money.

Based on examinations of the remains, including dental examinations and a soil assessment of the area where the remains were recovered, the woman is believed to be characteristic of the following:

  • An adult female
  • 30-83 years of age at the time of death
  • 4'8-5'4 in height
  • White and/or Hispanic
  • Had been deceased for two to 15 years prior to the discovery of the remains
These characteristics were applied by a forensic artist in composite sketches, which show three renditions of possible features the woman may have had when she was alive.

Does anyone know if anything further came from this?
Also, when skeletal remains are found, are isotope tests automatically conducted? (I study criminal minds (forensic psych) so my education is sometimes limited regarding physical forensic evidence :) )
The last I heard, they had ruled out several female missing persons, and an earring was found near the remains.

I am fairly certain isotope testing is NOT standard. This is something that agencies will often crowdfund to have labs such as Othram perform on remains that they send to them.

Better to move straight to DNA testing... it provides far greater specificity than isotope testing.

I put in a tip several months ago about the Florence County Jane Doe. I believe the remains belong to a young girl who went missing in 2005 from La Crosse, WI. Her name is Madeline Edman, and she was 15 years old. According to the missing persons poster Madeline was 5'4 and biracial which could be a mix of Caucasian and Hispanic. I am also in a Facebook group, and this was also shared in the group to which I commented and shared my findings which were these three sketches and why I believed the remains were Madeline. In my post I mentioned that a hoop earring was found with the remains, but I didn't know if Madeline wore hoop earrings. Then her sister commented on my post and confirmed that Madeline did wear hoop earrings, as a matter of fact, they both did. Knowing now that Madeline did in fact wear hoop earring and a hoop earring was found with the remains makes it all the more likely these remains are Madeline Edman. That was the only piece of physical evidence needed to confirm my suspicions. I'm sure that when I gave my tip to the investigating agency, they probably didn't believe it was Madeline Edman because when she disappeared, she was just a teenager, and they believed the remains were an adult female.
