They literally had no clue who was behind it? What were they doing?

You got that right. It makes you lose respect for them. I didn't even want to finish watching them babble.
I stopped too when the self praise started. Somebody older knew.

And also congratulating themselves!?

I hope they reveal more of how he targeted her for us parents to learn how our own kids may be targets.

Why would a 21 year old guy want to do with a 13 year old girl?

I think we all know the answer to tjis one jmo.
I meant targeted a girl that far away from where he lives.

To be fair, LE tried hard and did a lot. (As did friends, family, the community, people like us concerned about missing people nationwide.) But it was ultimately Jayme who rescued herself.

Suspect arrested in Jayme Closs case identified as Jake Patterson was hiding in the home he grew up in
“Neighbor Daphne Ronning said Patterson's parents moved to the home about 15 years ago and that Jake and his brother were raised there and attended Minong High School. The parents moved to another home once the boys became older, but Patterson and his brother continued to use the town of Gordon home,”

Site is slow; apologies if someone else already answered.

I am elated that Jayme is alive, she's been through so much and yes she is very, very strong and needs our support. However, this presser is bizarre and I am glad the press is asking much needed questions to get some answers.

He had taken measures to avoid detection.
Like an overseas VPN?

I understand now, the silence of the community. They had/have their arms around the family and Jayme. Protecting them.
