I really like this story that speaks of neighbors using their guns to protect Jayme while waiting for police to arrive. I had wondered if they had considered the danger they themselves were in when they took Jayme in. They all did and were incredibly brave IMO:

Jayme Closs ‘in shock,’ while neighbors, gun ready, waited for police with her – Twin Cities
Jayme Closs ‘in shock,’ while neighbors, gun ready, waited for police with her – Twin Cities

I bet a lot of the people out in those cabins probably have guns.

What would he put on it? Slacker lunatic seeking teacher's assistant position?

I'd be very surprised to see him on any job related site.

I could see him looking on job site but not necessarily posting.. he likely has an email
But a psychotic one...

[email protected]

I can only imagine cops have phone/email / checking Acct/ credit card/Venmo acct... that will lead to a lot of info... might only make sense to him though.

Assuming it was a test, there could be a couple of reasons he didn't catch her.

1. She left the road and he didn't anticipate that.

2. After he drove off, he waited a little too long before circling back.

3. He never actually thought that she'd "leave" him.

The one thing we do know is that he underestimated her.

Great points. and yes, he far underestimated her grit and wit.

Here are some of my theories that have some credibility to it -

1. What if the person that broke into the Closs home would have given notes on the layout to JTP? If this was a purely random attack, JTP would haven't have known the layout and would have had a harder time to conceal his steps.

2. Perhaps JTP was trying to break in the same way the prior thief did, but realized that way was blocked, so he shot the door open with the shotgun and accidently shot James. He then knew that with Denise and Jayme as witnesses, he would have been found guilty if LE found him. Then, trying to conceal his steps, shot Denise to death then kidnapped Jayme because he wasn't sure if she would be able to testify against him.

3. Expanding on the fact of the break-in, would it have been possible that James saw JTP and grabbed his gun (This is hunting territory btw) in case he would have came to the front door. JTP shot down the door, and potentially James could have shot JTP in the leg or anywhere (Non-fatal) After he shot James dead, she shoots Denise dead (same reasons as before) and takes the gun because the gun would potentially give his position away, and runs away. He is able to go to the hospital or treat himself, and he is able to survive. He keeps Jayme in the basement because he is afraid that he would get a longer time in jail. He doesn't do any physical harm to Jayme, but inside, Jayme knows she has to escape in case he did.

First: as usual I could be sooo wrong: but: it took 20 minutes for police to arrive to Jayme....it was @ 10 to apprehend JP: I understood that JP was arrested in town or thereabouts, not near the house...

Also: about his previous criminal activity: what we know is only what he got caught doing...I am sure there IS more...

His brother is a sex offender: that also is only what we know: stands to reason there is more that we don't. I have a feeling JP's brother gave him quite a few 'bright ideas'

JP may have not only been a participant but at the very least likely a witness to whatever his brother was up to in those years they lived like hyenas in the woods on their own JMO

(also, as an aside: I don't care how crazy this sounds: I STILL want to know about those girls cruising @ so early on RE: crime scene: especially if JP's brother had a scanner. I know, I know...probably nada)

What break in are you referring to? The only one I'm aware of was after the murders.

???

Yes and the only reason they use them is for deer or bird hunting and some, a security measure.

As investigators continue to piece this all together, and I believe they will soon. IMO, there will be a moment when it’s all clear to them, and they will say “oh 🤬🤬🤬🤬” as they stare at each other.

No one was making excuses for him. I certainly was not. I was responding with a fact. I was pointing out that he was 13 when his paraents were divorced. Same age as Jayme. PERIOD. The poster corrected me and said 11.

I'm just stunned at the difference between the brutality and horror of the crimes and the credentials of the people Jayme was with until LE arrived. What a black and white contrast.

If JP was on Fiverr / UPWork/ or freelancer.com... and he codes or computer assistance.. he could easily make a good living and build clients without divulging location.. or real name..

Those sites also promote anonymity... and prefer no email given..

If he wasn’t anti social he could have rented rooms in that house and simply not worked.
5 bedroom house... no dogs or roommates...
Makes me think he was growing or making drugs... don’t really know..

Drugs would explain nobody coming forward stating he was fair on marijuana dealings...

Can’t fathom he did nothing... or left this little trail...

That’s pretty neat...

He would have had to have gone back by the cabin to know she was gone, if he indeed was out looking for her, which hasn't been established for sure yet, as authorities have said both that he was and that he wasn't. If he did go back by the cabin and found that she was missing--why didn't he follow her footprints in the snow?

That is cool. I wonder if Jayme is overwhelmed by so much attention.

FYI, that's the bridge that was built to replace the one that collapsed in'07 and killed 13 people.
