Yes, she had no idea they were looking for her, is what I read. Imo

Do you have a link because I do not think that is true

The article sounded like his mom moved various places up & down 53. But it doesn't make sense that he was living a bunch of different places as much as an hour from the cabin, yet still was going to the same school in Minong.

I think he was living in the house with dad and mom was moving, moving, moving

While he may have been allowed to go there, I question how he could have got there. We've read that his father left the house at 4am for his commute, and his mother drove a schoolbus, so she would be at work during the school commute hours. Unless she drove up around Minong, but then you wouldn't think they'd say she parked the schoolbus at Haugen.

I don’t think mom has lived in Haugen long. He lived with dad in the house in Gordon. Mom moved around not the killer

if that was the case, why wouldn't he just abduct her from a less secure location where he wouldn't rack up two intentional murder charges? IMO it's bc he is a coward and feels powerless, is not smart or clever and is intimidated by authority.
He came up the driveway with his lights off. He probably intended to sneak in and grab her while everyone was asleep.

It’s so horrific beyond words to think that someone can just say to themselves, “you know, I think I’m going to break into that girl’s home, murder her whole family and take her as my prisoner”.

I have wondered about too! I think he may have and already planned how to cover up doing it if the need arose.[/Q
Yup. Sadly, I think you’re right.

Those three months were about fear and survival. Now that she is finally safe, she will be able to process the loss that she has suffered.

Fortunately, she has a loving family surrounding her. Hopefully that helps.
I've been thinking, yes, J is brave, strong and amazing. But I hope too much isn't expected of her, to always feel she has to present herself that way. If she
Random thought...

I was just wondering how Jayme is doing these last few days and realizing that while it was obvious from the beginning that her parents are not ever coming back considering they were murdered right in front of her, she may just now start experiencing some other losses concretely as she is now back in the free world and trying to adjust back as best as possible. Meaning it’s now that she will experience these losses further when her parents can’t be there for certain things. I don’t know how and if she recovers after the shock of something like this, but if that somehow starts to dissipate and morph into a new stage of grief, I think reality can only continue to hit her harder like a ton of bricks as she starts to resume some type of “normalcy”.

I think the murders were premeditated and intentional. The lights were off as part of his scheme to accomplish the murders.

Opinion and speculation only

He also made a point of saying that he chose the shotgun because he thought it would be easier and faster to kill them with. I think I know what the OP was saying, though, and I agree. I think his plan was to break in and kill them in their sleep. Either way, they were going to die.

Yes.
This will add some additional penalties at his sentencing. Evil. Pure evil.
I wonder if he was the type that harmed animals or smaller children in his youth.

Opinion and speculation only.

I agree and the only variable that he didn't consider or know about was Molly and her barking. When she started yapping in the middle of the night that changed everything. The element of total surprise was gone although the family did not expect what happened next.

I heard this as well. It originated from Jayme telling one of the neighbors that but I cannot recall if it was in a news article or the 911. Somewhere it was put out though, not just gossip but reported.

However, that being said, I for one am frustrated. For each and every supposed fact that is reported, there is a report saying almost just the opposite from some other news agency. I don't know how anyone is supposed to take anything as truth.

We have the 911 recording and the complaint. But even with the complaint I take the perp's words with a grain of salt.

We hear there was social media and computer usage and then we hear there wasn't. We hear he had a gf in 9th grade, now a friend comes out says he never had a gf nor was into girls. On and on. We hear he was quiet but caused no trouble. Then we hear he had a temper and picked up roadkill. Just examples and it seems to occur with each and every single thing.

Anyhow, just confirming I heard what she did as well. It was reported right in the beginning after she escaped...

It’s horrific but it’s also extremely rare... your more likely to get hit by lightning

Think about what he had to do to temporarily get away with the Crime...

Starting at age 15/16 .... begin cutting yourself off from other people..

age 18... completely withdraw and no Facebook/emails etc

Have wealthy father that gives you permanent residence in secluded house,
Who doesnt miss the gun you took from him
Older sister who gives you her car..
All bills paid by mom/dad

Have family with no security cam ( he got lucky)

He had all that in his favor, cops missed him by 20 seconds...even saw his car...

He played navy seal/ghost since 15 or whatever and barely got away with it..

No clue what the real motive is, but he likely is just as upset about divorce age 11 then he was before Crime... nothing will stop a madman that steals his dads shotgun...
You have couple 100 million kids dealing with divorce over a decade, it only Makes numerical sense most will be ok, but one will be pissed off forever about it and discombobulate..

I guess cell phone service is in working order since JN was able to call 911. I know there still linger some outlying areas without internet service- usually neighbors have to put up some of the costs. I really think this neighborhood would have done that, but no way to no for sure. Wonder who was footing the bill for either his cell phone or Internet at the house (not to blame, but trying to understand).

She said in the 911 call that she was calling from a landline.

Barron tries to move forward after Jayme Closs' return

Barron tries to move forward after Jayme Closs' return

Barron schools superintendent Diane Tremblay said she still gets stopped on the street by people asking the same question: “How do we convince our kids that they’re safe?”

After initially being reluctant to accept offers of help from outside groups out of what she now describes as an “overprotective” instinct that made her want to limit the number of new faces kids would be exposed to in school, Tremblay said she eventually came to realize that people with experience and expertise could provide valuable insights into how to help students, staff and community members cope with the traumatic events of the past three months.

A crucial challenge involves restoring a sense of physical and psychological safety among students, she said.

“There is a lot of fear to manage,” Gay said. “There is a sense that, ‘Oh my goodness, this could happen to me.’ Even though the odds are astronomically rare, there is that idea that has opened up in children’s minds.”

While Tremblay already has been meeting with various school groups to see how they’re doing, she said administrators plan to do a formal assessment of all students and staff beginning on Jan. 29 so they can address the distinct needs of each person in recovering from the trauma they have endured.

Pages behind again, but since the two sides of the door look different, I wonder if this is a screen door that the dog scratched a few too many times? If so, won't keep the bugs out....

? JMHO YMMV

Hm. How about that picture of the high school kids and he is all alone in the back with his head in a book?

No, I do not think he was an average kid.

And I am thinking that the one grandfather is like the parents of Chris Watts.

They lost a grandson. Ok. Cry for us. Um, no

Am I the only one that thinks that looks like a perfect setup for a photoshopped picture?

  • Tends to suggest he didn't know they had a Dog that barked or that the dog would wake JLC first and she would go and alert her Parents.
  • I notice one of the things missing from his LE questioning statement is the yapping/barking dog he appears to make no reference to the dog. and one of the things mentioned in JLC statement was that the Dog barking woke her up.
  • If he had done careful surveillance as he suggested he did he would know the Dog would yap or bark and alert residents to something unusual.
  • All owners of Dogs subjectively know when their Dog is alerting to something odd or strange

Another piece of information that I cannot reconcile is that the neighbors heard the first two shots but didn't report the third but made no report of hearing the police sirens that Jayme said she heard and that JP pulled over for. They were awake at around that time and also said they had taken the dog out about one am because it was aware of something. Wonder why, but I do know from first hand experience, that first responders will approach an unknown situation without sirens and in many cases red/blue lights so as to not tip off an intruder. That makes me wonder how far away from the scene they do that because that would indicate how far away JP was when he pulled to the side of the road.

So we come back to our 4 legged furry friends and their intuition. Something is not right. Like myself, the neighbors knew the thier Dog was uncomfortable but couldn't pinpoint why and perhaps didn't join the dots between shots fired and why their dog was restless.

Not forgetting the Dogs were Neighbors as well and probably understood unusual yaps and barks. Like us humans, they communicate and alert to something unusual.

Edited to add a bit
