Another piece of information that I cannot reconcile is that the neighbors heard the first two shots but didn't report the third but made no report of hearing the police sirens that Jayme said she heard and that JP pulled over for. They were awake at around that time and also said they had taken the dog out about one am because it was aware of something. Wonder why, but I do know from first hand experience, that first responders will approach an unknown situation without sirens and in many cases red/blue lights so as to not tip off an intruder. That makes me wonder how far away from the scene they do that because that would indicate how far away JP was when he pulled to the side of the road.

The first 2 shots were made outside at the front door in quick succession. The third shot was inside the home, which could explain why they didn't hear it. The neighbor did say the dog 'huffed' a little around 1 am, but I'm not sure if she actually took him outside at that time.

Good question about the lights and sirens, I thought they went in silent. IDK.

Something just came to mind. The day that he left the house and went to his mother's, what time did he leave do we think? Was it around the time that news was hitting, incorrectly, that Jayme had been found. I wonder if he left at that time because he heard the first initial news reports and wanted to get out of Dodge? And then while he was traveling he learned that that was a false alarm so he returned?

I can't remember right now but those news reports were, or how it was initially stated. The false ones that day that I'm talking about.

I heard this as well. It originated from Jayme telling one of the neighbors that but I cannot recall if it was in a news article or the 911. Somewhere it was put out though, not just gossip but reported.

However, that being said, I for one am frustrated. For each and every supposed fact that is reported, there is a report saying almost just the opposite from some other news agency. I don't know how anyone is supposed to take anything as truth.

We have the 911 recording and the complaint. But even with the complaint I take the perp's words with a grain of salt.

We hear there was social media and computer usage and then we hear there wasn't. We hear he had a gf in 9th grade, now a friend comes out says he never had a gf nor was into girls. On and on. We hear he was quiet but caused no trouble. Then we hear he had a temper and picked up roadkill. Just examples and it seems to occur with each and every single thing.

Anyhow, just confirming I heard what she did as well. It was reported right in the beginning after she escaped...

It would be in the report of her neeting with her rescuer. There is a comment about “they didn’t know who I was” or something like that referring to people coming to the horror house.

I do not believe there is a comment from her that she did not know people were looking for her.

Can anyone find that comment?

Please show the link. Anyone?

The false reports came as a result of a police raid in southern WI on farm where the remains of two deceased people were found in a fire pit. The large LE presence gave rise to over zealous speculation and people assuming it was related to JC. It spread like wildfire and was completely unrelated.

Yes, the killer would know it had nothing to do with him. Probably got a good laugh out of it

Understood.

That he left the house because he wanted to be able to listen to it and be away from the house when he did? I still want to know what time that that news hit the airwaves, and if that was any thing that prompted him to leave the house that day and at that time.

Complaint reveals chilling details of Jayme Closs' abduction, captivity

I don't think JS took their dog outside, but that the dog was already outside.

BANFIELD: That`s remarkable. And that night it goes without saying, you didn`t see or hear any vehicles coming or going, especially around the time of the gunshots?

SMREKAR: No, and I don`t sleep well at night. And I was up about 1:00 o`clock-ish, and our dog was on the porch. And he was doing some light trumping noises. And I knew something was up. I couldn`t see anything anywhere that looked or felt out of line. And I told the FBI people that have been here a couple times. I said, you know, from now on, if I hear something that doesn`t sound appropriate for that time of night. I`m going to call in immediately, because we just thought it was maybe a neighbor chasing a bear out of their yard.

Some thoughts:

If I’m understanding correctly, no angles, no amount of sleuthing, nothing could have located Jayme:

1. Her abduction had nothing to do with the turkey plant, James or Denise (disgruntled employees/workers, etc).

2. Her abduction had nothing to do with other violent home invasions.

3. Social Media and internet activity had zero significance in this case.

4. The perp was in no database as he had zero criminal record.

5. This had nothing to do with any of Jayme’s extracurricular activities, such as dance.

6. This had nothing to do with any neighbors or anyone in the community.

7. Perp had zero ties to the community.

Point is this was one of the hardest to solve because There was nothing. Not a link to anything. It doesn’t matter how good of an LE Investigator or Sleuther one is, you can’t find something if it’s not there.

If you're looking for a direct quote from Jayme, there isn't one AFAIK. It's reported in this article that she didn't know people were looking for her.

Back with family after escaping abductor, Jayme Closs 'is the hero'
During her brief stay in the K's home, Jayme was quiet, her emotions “pretty flat,” PK said Thursday night.

She didn’t realize anyone had been looking for her and was surprised the couple knew Patterson’s name. Jayme didn’t know who he was until after he abducted her, she told them.

Thank you for finding this. It seems then that if the neighbors did not see police lights or hear sirens (sound travels at night) and JP and Jayme did then they were much closer to Barron than I had previously thought or another way to look at it is that they were further away from the crime scene than I had thought. Not sure what difference the distinction makes though.

I was looking for Furman’s quote about Denise being the target and came across this, sorry if repost:

Fuhrman: Jayme Closs' Captor Was 'Careful, Calculated,' Likely Committed Previous Crimes

“Fuhrman said it appears Patterson left no forensic evidence -- such as hair or a footprint -- at the crime scene.

"He had no criminal record. So even if he left DNA, he wouldn't be in a database. If he left fingerprints, they wouldn't be in a database," Fuhrman noted. "So I think they were presented with a very difficult case."“

I thought we had determined that the transcript is flawed when you compare it to the audio. I’m not sure this is accurate.

( @PommyMommy I’m getting really spoiled and perhaps maybe even starting to take advantage because I saw the question at hand last night and I thought to myself, “Oh Pommy will get it”...tsk tsk to myself)

I recall Sheriff Fitzgerald's press conference, and his response to a media inquiry, crediting FBI, and Wisconsin Dept of Justice for helping initiate the Amber Alert for JC -- without a description of suspect and/or suspect's vehicle (i.e., criteria required for Amber alert).

I'm also baffled on why the Sheriff's latest statement (below) does not correspond with information in the Deputy's report in the cc.

Fitzgerald said Tuesday that the passing car was discussed during the investigation, but they didn't feel they had enough information to alert the public to it. It was dark, and police were traveling fast, so it was difficult to determine the make, model and other details, he said. [bbm]

“We didn’t have any specific information about that car," he said.

Jake Patterson's car was seen the night of Jayme Closs' kidnapping, but cops didn't have enough to pull him over
I am floored. He snuck by because he was driving an everyday average car, not a Hot Rod.
For quite a while people were wondering if it could possibly e another car, but they were sure they were looking for a Challenger, and maybe an SUV.
WOW.
Not dogging LE here, I know they are probably kicking themselves in the behind over that right now.
No wonder he was able to get in,get out, and vanish so easily.
He blended in,rather than stick out like a sore thumb.
I don't even know how to feel finding this out.
The whole time they should have been looking for a Maroon Ford Taurus.

I am reminded of a case, (handsome) Florida high ranking cop’s daughter was abducted and killed, iirc. A witness on the road called 911 with a sighting of a woman screaming in car but someone dropped the ball bigtime at dispatch and it basically cost her her life. The cops were riiiight theeere.... Iirc, this police officer took the 911 dispatch problem to the highest level...

I guess my point on that is like above, it seems the “Taurus” does appear to be the tragic element here.

I must have missed that. What is inaccurate?

Different people might have totally different perspectives on this guy though. So their experience is true but different from what someone else observed.

I think they were looking for the Taurus. They just didn't release that information. At the same time, they were looking for a Challenger and a Ford Edge or Acura MDX and asked for the public's assistance.

LE has JC’s statement and evidence from the crime scene against which to compare JP’s claims. I haven’t noticed anything in the criminal complaint that seems implausible. I hear what you’re saying, though. IMO, most of the dubious “facts” come from tabloids like Radar and DM. Hard to know whether to believe what they report or not.
