How would a young man come up with the idea of kidnapping
a young girl and killing those who would get in his way?

Is there a movie or video game or 🤬🤬🤬🤬 site that would have planted this idea in his head?

Is this discussed on 'Incel' sites?

I just can't fathom where or how this idea develops.

To be fair, men have been kidnapping women to drag back to their caves since our ancestors were upright enough to do the dragging. Greek mythology and European folktales have stories about them. It's nothing new. He wouldn't need fictional movies or video games to inspire him-there are enough real life kidnappings in which the perp holds the woman in captivity. As far as 🤬🤬🤬🤬, probably. You can find any kind of 🤬🤬🤬🤬 you want. There's something for everyone. <modsnipped>

I think she needed to train her body to be somewhat immune to it's needs; needs like water, food and elimination? jmo

Possibly. If you go through long periods of time without eating much then your body will start adapting to that. My grandmother used to say that if I didn't eat more, my stomach would shrink and then I wouldn't be able to eat at all. It doesn't quite work that way, but you can get your body used to fewer calories and therefore not feel as hungry as you may have otherwise.

What do you think that is, that you can see through the doorway, in the blue room on the left? A desk and chair? Bathroom counter and wall mirror? Or... ?

Washer or dryer?

(Sorry, working with a bad keyboard -- pardon my choppy comments. Catching up on 3 threads takes forever!)

The source for the RO article citing Badadmins was likely Badadmins on self-promotion.

Regarding JP, I think immature perp better discussion that IQ or planning. Planning vs doing -- only 1 way to get experience. I strongly believe this was his first serious crime.

For instance, after crime, it would have been much smarter to go west on HWY 8. Also, maybe 30-60 minutes earlier or later might have slowed LE resp as BCSO deputies were on shift change (thus at the station)and some deputies were nearby in dispatch when the 911 hangup came in.

Hindsight 20/20 for crime and people not seeing JP was a problem before or after IMHO.

Strongly agree that without the arrest JP would have gone onto to more sophisticated crimes.

The "Taurus" - upon review, going on what they did vs what was said
- car was likely noted afterwards, but too late to act on that night
- after that, FBI probably advised not to disclose to public because...
- after scene processed, they knew abduction and disclosure would have
only served to lessen survival if alive (maybe they would have released
this during the scheduled PC that never happened?)

Marine failure a trigger toward worse behavior -- very likely IMHO.

Why did he pick JC? I think kidnapping had been a fantasy for a long time.

I think JC because of her hair color likely combined with some sort of interaction/fascination/conflict with his sister.

Regarding the Christmas travel, I'd guess he got money from his grandparents.
If you look at the cabin pictures closely, one is from the grandparents to his brother offering support to him in Colorado (why that card was in the cabin and why it was deemed picture worthy I do not know...) I'd imagine they were trying to help JP the best way they thought they could.

As far as the Christmas "party" at the cabin, I'd say it's as likely they stopped by to pick him up to go to the grandparent's as anything else. I don't see JP hosting any kind of event.

Good points.

Regarding the Christmas gathering, I find it doubtful they were just picking him up and not staying for some type of gathering simply because I believe all four live in Superior, they would have had to run down and pick him up and run back. I just think it more likely if it was a pick-up, one or just one couple would have run to get him. jmo.

Looking at pictures of the Closs home I've only identified three exterior lights.

Looking from front of house there is a light above the front door.

There is either a flood or spotlight directed downwards towards the garage door area that is mounted on the left side front corner of house.

On the right side rear corner is a flood or spot light pointing downwards towards the deck.

Neither of the flood or spots lights look to be either motion activated or dusk to dawn activated.

Not comfortable attempting to post multiple pictures yet. :(

I believe the 2nd light mentioned by the officer at the rear of the house is a light in the bathroom which looks to be in the center of the rear of the house.

MO
FWIW I have been using floor plans for the Closs home that I drew myself , summarised from what I read from the posts here (and picked and chose). Then I updated it after reading the complaint.

I will share it, but it may be embarrassingly wrong in places (never been to rural America, and never seen any similar house type)

So, I think the light at the back could be the parent's room light at the NW corner, or the bathroom light in the centre back.

BTW there is even a "bathroom hallway doorway" for Denise' phone

I think you are pretty close other than I think the living room is front left and Jayme's bedroom is the back right. Based on some of the things that have come out like a remark from the PT with regard to Jayme's room. The picture window on the front of the house on the left also fits a living room more than the bedroom. Otherwise I think it is very close. jmo.

I agree and would add two thoughts. First, there are no closets figured into any of the schematics we have seen so far and they take up space, like a coat closet near the front door. Also, my opinion is that the stairs to the basement are opposite the bathroom door and they head down toward the front of the house and take up the space opposite the front door, behind the cabinet. At the bottom of the steps a person would turn right to the garage or left into a basement/laundry room. Rarely, if ever is the bathroom visually apparent as you step into a home.

The steps have alway been debated. I think they could also come out of the kitchen area, in many homes they do, not all certainly. Or as you said from back to front. I would allow also that they could turn, a few steps down one way, a landing and a few the other way.

I agree bathrooms are usually not as you enter a front door but more likely are back by the bedrooms. And if it is in the center between the parents' bedroom and Jayme's it would explain them maybe going in there as they would have been least visible when heading for it. Not sure why they did not head downstairs if the stairs are in the same area though but they probably only had a split second or two and in no way am I judging that, except I still think they could possibly come out of the kitchen and go left, that would then explain it because they would likely be visible if they headed for the steps.

We may never know. If there is a trial, there will be a diagram. If there isn't, not so sure.

Forgive me if this has already been answered as I am behind on the thread, but it appears to be a washing machine or dryer.

This has a few new things. Thanks for sharing it. Someone clearly went and accessed the actual divorce records/judgment for this timeline.

I would add that the early October, 2018 entry says his dad has moved out--does that mean I wonder that he just moved out then...? If so, that changes some of my thoughts. This kid was not alone at all--well maybe while dad worked, etc. Kind of hard to know how they mean it or where it came from.

Ok, so I was confused about the house due to the Daily Mail photo, which made it look like a two story house to me. Apparently that was the back door. I found a side view on the Deluth Tribune site, which shows what I first thought was the first floor as just an exposed basement at the back.

Delete, messed up post.

I just had the thought that with the Christmas story coming out, clearly the Patterson family is being interrogated. I mean I figured that before but this article coming out yesterday leads me to believe it is ongoing.

I mean maybe this was found out in the early days but if it was just found out, it likely did not come from JTP as he is lawyered up. It could have come from Jayme but I doubt she would know who the attendees were, so what remains is from his family maybe in addition to Jayme mentioning it...

I would assume also since the home is in Douglas, it is Douglas County questioning the family.

Just thoughts...

I think it’s the washer & dryer. Dryer to left of the washer? Or washer on left? But I do see 2 appliances.

The low thing on the left is either a washer or a dryer. The tall thing on the right is a curtain (rod etc visible up near ceiling). I too thought it was a fridge or shelf at first but then I noticed a curve in the vertical line... MOO
