I think he would have worn black leather gloves.

It would fit the rest of his ensemble, which played into his fantasy.

Black clothing, black mask, black gloves.

Plastic gloves would tear, and wouldn’t match the psychology of his crime.
ITA. I've noticed in media stories about LE seizing drugs such as fentanyl, the officers always wear thick, black gloves.

Yeah. I think he probably wore something similar, both for practical purposes, and as part of his fantasy.

He would have needed something that would allow him to pull the trigger, but also something that didn’t leave fibers behind.

So they would be made of some material that met these requirements.

They probably wouldn’t have been an afterthought.

All of this discussion about the house where JP resided has me SMH. He (JP) didn't own the home or acreage, so why should his dad have to sell it? PP is a victim of his own son at this time and unless he is found to know anything about these crimes he is the one to make a decision about what becomes of HIS property IMO.

He doesn't have to. But I can't imagine stepping foot in the house again or having the neighbors looking at me and whispering or being outright hostile. Even renting it is fraught, making money off the house or appearing to. From the tiny bit that we know of him, he seems to be sensitive to the situation and my guess is he lets it sit for a decent interval until he can just dump it. He's traumatized as well, and I doubt he does anything for a while.

I don’t think the gloves medical people wear tear easily

It almost fits too perfectly. And yet, I wonder. Did we ever confirm how Jayme knew JTPs full name? Did he drill it into her? Did she see papers laying around the house? I honestly do not recall seeing that little bit of information confirmed. Why would it matter? Did he actually plan for her to escape? And she would be able to identify him quickly? Or am I giving our suspect too much credit?

I would think JP's HS diploma was hanging in the house with his full name on it. MOO

Screen shots. Glad others do them. From now on, I plan on it.

The complaint. I only read it a dozen times. I am going to find someone who took screen shots, I swear. I realize they can be amended but amendments I always thought were filed but maybe that is incorrect. Or I am losing it, people can feel free to say so. However, I pointed it out and it was discussed back then. That and the two different taping scenarios were the things that stood out. Oh well. It was not even that I questioned her account, I just figured she saw a shadowy figure all in black with a gun coming up the driveway and then said the first time she saw hi was in the bathroom (meaning up close). So it is not that I am questioning her account. It was just a bit of a thing where I thought there must have been moonlight, etc. or a light on. Oh WELL.

Oh, I don't think you're losing it. Things take hold in the mind, and it's tough later to find out how. Not that I'm bringing up the uncle's disappeared interview again or anything :)

I didn't mean to pin you down or question you, I was genuinely curious because that changes details of the crime a bit, for me.

I remember her seeing someone walk up the driveway. I guess

Fentanyl can kill them. That is a different problem

Just a thought: If he had decided to kill all witnesses then why the need for a mask? Just to terrorise or for some other reason?

Maybe wearing the mask was part of the thrill for him? Saw it in a movie? Maybe it was in case they had a home system that recorded video? MOO

Even if they don’t, they wouldn’t fit in to his fantasy.

He didn’t need to dress in all black in order to do this, he chose to.

He’s not going to get all dressed up, and then wear disposable gloves.

So, if his confession was taken from stories/ideas he read about rather than the truth, what happens?

Don’t think LE cares as long as he goes away for life. I think it doesn’t matter what he actually did. The facts are he killed two people and kidnapped a kid and kept her. No explanation he gives is going to suffice.

Yep. Not sure I believe his account. Been discussed.

With regard to driving up the driveway, I swear from now on I am going to take screen shots of everything. Not at you in anyway. In general. Saw a man dressed all in black with a gun walking up the driveway is what I recall. But I am not going to argue it. And I read it many times. I also doubt I am the only.

I don’t remember the gun part. What I remember is in an account somewhere wondering, since he was walking up the driveway, why no one noticed a big gun.

What did James see when he was shining his flashlight?

If I recall correctly, it was a very dark night.

He did not have anything showing of his body.

Did they have motion detector lights? Don’t most people have them? We had one on the garage, obvious, but the one on our porch was in a decorative porch light on the wall of our house. No one would know it was a motion detector light.

I don’t think there is anyway he could get tape off a roll with gloves. Finding the end is an all day task whoch takes fine motor skills

All you have to do is bend the end beforehand.

That’s probably also part of the reason why he had Denise do some of the taping.

A motion detector light would explain one thing that has niggled at me: the dog. One of my little dogs is particularly alert, territorial and barky, and I am confident he would not know if someone "coasted" up my driveway with the lights off. But if the car triggered an outside light, that would help explain it.

Also, I've wondered how they all got up so quickly, how James seemed to get to the door before JP did. I'd think a barking dog, Jayme realizing something was going on, getting her parents up, etc. would take a minute or two at least. I wonder if JP stayed in the car for some period of time, gathering up the things he would need or steeling his nerve, or something.

Mask: bc perhaps not so confident on his gun skills? Maybe didn’t want a neighbor to see him? A home video system to capture him?

Plus the 911 call was 48 seconds long. Surely she made that call when the gun shots were first heard.
Then the yelling police heard was probably JP telling her to tie Jayme up bc the only other option is him yelling as he looks room to room. Right?

Yes. In a nice calm situation I try to do that until inevitably the tape tapes on itself . But I may not be the best one for making any determinations because no matter what I do, the tape wins and thwarts me.

I would think the words could be heard

In terms of commotion I just recalled reading he told Denise to hang up the phone. So it must have been the commotion of him kicking in the door to the bathroom police heard on the call?
