I don’t think the gloves medical people wear tear easily
JP described the gloves as "work gloves."

Complaint, pg 8/12:
The defendant also stated he was wearing two pair of gloves on his hands, which he described as regular work gloves.

Yep. Not sure I believe his account. Been discussed.

With regard to driving up the driveway, I swear from now on I am going to take screen shots of everything. Not at you in anyway. In general. Saw a man dressed all in black with a gun walking up the driveway is what I recall. But I am not going to argue it. And I read it many times. I also doubt I am the only.
Perhaps you recall bad reporting, or simply recalling JP's account of what he did, and not JLC account what she saw.

Complaint, pg 9/12:

The defendant stated he walked on the sidewalk leading up to the front door of the house.

pg 8/12:

The defendant stated he was wearing a black colored jacket and had a black colored balaclava mask on.

I believe it's possible MSN may have conflated these accounts as you recall them, but suffice to say the CC is available to prove and/or supersede any erroneous reports. MOO

A motion detector light would explain one thing that has niggled at me: the dog. One of my little dogs is particularly alert, territorial and barky, and I am confident he would not know if someone "coasted" up my driveway with the lights off. But if the car triggered an outside light, that would help explain it.

Also, I've wondered how they all got up so quickly, how James seemed to get to the door before JP did. I'd think a barking dog, Jayme realizing something was going on, getting her parents up, etc. would take a minute or two at least. I wonder if JP stayed in the car for some period of time, gathering up the things he would need or steeling his nerve, or something.
I’ve got a really long driveway and my dog knows when someone stops at the end of it. I feel confident she would hear someone coast in.

No I just asked someone that came to visit flat out cold without asking or hinting what I meant about what she remembered from reading the complaint that stood out. She remembered the same. Like I said, I am not going to argue it but I am far from the only one that remembers it and maybe it has been amended. It stood out from the first reading as did many things. And then I reread it more than once over the next few weeks.

But again, I will leave it be for the moment. Not worth arguing it since I cannot show it. jmo.

Hopefully someone can track down these documents...

“Wisconsin authorities have examined call logs, photos and videos stored on the cellphone of the man accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old girl and killing her parents, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

The documents said authorities were looking for a contact list, a log of incoming and outgoing calls and the dates and times of those calls, texts or other messages and social media communications. They were also seeking emails that were sent to or from the cellphone, evidence that would tell them where the phone was during their months-long investigation, and any pictures or videos on the device.”

If it has been discussed, I missed it.
Based on personal/family experience, where was JP in regards to how the Marines train.
I looked it up online on a Marines site and I see a basic outline of Weeks 1-4

Week 5 starts "Weapons Field Training Battalion. hone their close combat skills and master Marksmanship Training."

Is this typically how it works?
He was discharged in wk 5.
So, is it possible that he had some weapons training at this point?
It gives me the feeling that he was wanting to carry out something that he wasn't able to achieve or attain before he was kicked out.
Any thoughts?

No. He wouldn’t have had any weapons training at that point.

That training begins week 6, with “grass week.” During this particular period, you learn firing positions, and how to sight targets.

The fact that he was discharged on week 5, tells me that he was dropped from training weeks before that.

There is a process to being discharged, and you don’t go from training to being sent home, without first being sent elsewhere.

He did very little training.

According to a search warrant affidavit, the red Ford Taurus Patterson was driving was taped up and taken to a secure evidence garage. The FBI's evidence response team searched the car the next day and found his cellphone on the front seat.

Wisconsin authorities have examined call logs, photos and videos stored on the cellphone of the man accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old girl and killing her parents, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

The phone was released to the Wisconsin Department of Justice to be analyzed by someone trained in the forensic extraction of data.

The documents said authorities were looking for a contact list, a log of incoming and outgoing calls and the dates and times of those calls, texts or other messages and social media communications. They were also seeking emails that were sent to or from the cellphone, evidence that would tell them where the phone was during their months-long investigation, and any pictures or videos on the device.

Confusing media report! I hope this News 5 report is saying that authorities have executed search warrants and awaiting all the information requested including but not limited to contact list, call logs, emails, texts, etc., from service provider, and not that forensics failed to extract data from JP's phone found in the car. MOO

Yeah, I think they are simply awaiting results.

The beauty of the way he was captured, is that he didn’t have time to delete things from his phone.

He thought that he had gotten away with this, so I expect that they will recover a goldmine of incriminating data.

You can learn a lot about a crime from a cell phone.

And a lot about a person.

Agree and his phone was more than likely his primary mode of online access so hopefully it’s a fruitful data capture.

Wow. Two pairs of work gloves. Incredible that he could work with tape.

"Jayme told authorities that she woke up when she heard Molly barking and saw a car pulling into their driveway. She woke up her parents and she and her mother, seeing a man through the glass holding a gun, went to hide in the bathtub while her dad went to the door."

That is a bit closer to what I read. Thank you. It still is not it but it is closer. I have had company and have not read the last few pages but was the link from ABC shared about JP's phone, etc. and his images and things on phone, etc. and the chronology...? Same person who stopped by shared it with me.

Like I said I am not going to argue it but others I know remember the same. It does not matter I guess, nothing I am going to get hung up over. Conflate though? Nope. My concern lies with not doubting but justice and wanting things ironclad. Two things stood out in the complaint other than the very illness it gave all of us. That was one.

Yup, partially flattened roll or not, I don't believe I could work with a roll of gorilla tape wearing 2 pairs of work gloves unless I'd prepared and/or turned up the edges beforehand, or somebody did it for me. Perhaps DC started/loosened the tape edge right before JP took it away from her. Also, I believe JP can tell a good story if he's the only one telling it. MOO

Once you tape one area and rip it off, then you must carefully control the tape when you move on to the next area.

He was so comtrolled and calm that he could do this in two pairs of work gloves and so quickly? Nasty

might have be vinyl gloves under work gloves?

Timeline:

Judging by what we know, the call log started at 00:53:26. The first dispatcher entry, dispatching 3 units 00:56:01. So 2 min, 35 seconds to try and resolve the 911 hangup. This is not unusual - there are more 911 hangups than you think. Cars onscene at 01:00:29. That's 4 min, 28 sec plus 2:35 for 7:03 elapsed for 911 response.

Figure with what we know now the dog alerted maybe 1.5 min before call? (Dogs can be very observant to specific vehicle noise signatures.) First shot 30 to 45 seconds before 911 call? Just a guess here, though.

Some distortion/muffling due to the bathroom/tub likely didn't help, but there's probably more detail on the tape than released.

So say, with what we know, time from first shot to escape with JC about 7 min, 8 min max I believe.

I want to re-iterate I think BC dispatch and the first 4 responders did a great job.
