If you look at the satellite view, the actual house is farther away and quite a bit of tree cover in between

Edit: added map Jayme Closs Case - Google My Maps

Second edit: Looks like the closer property doesn't have any structures on it, tax records indicate it is undeveloped

Thanks for that info.

The Closs property has a property of 24 acres next to it on the west which I figure is undeveloped. Then the S house.

How far is the S house from the Closs? It has been said 300 ft? That seems hard to imagine with the 24 acre parcel next door but I don’t know how to figure the dimensions of the 24 acre parcel.

It sure looks lkke there is not much opportunity for cameras l

The garage is underneath a good portion of what I can assume is the main level. I'll try and find a picture that better shows it.

Thanks bc! The only picture I have kind of cuts off the bottom of the house. Although, I guess we cannot be sure what James usually did or did on that night.

Yes, I completely forgot about this! In her mind I think she thinks she is helping out by doing all these interviews and feels terrible about what happened but she is not a reliable witness.

100% concur. I also find her sketchy since she's seemingly doing multiple paid interviews. (scroll to the bottom of the article(s) where it says "We pay for juicy info! Do you have a story for RadarOnline.com? Email us at [email protected], or call us at (866) ON-RADAR (667-2327) any time, day or night.")

I agree. I've taken their words with a grain of salt since she said she saw a bus every day, yet somehow was unaware they had a child. That was nonsensical to me.

JS: That I can't tell you, I just know that the school bus dropped her off?
BANFIELD: And you would see her dropped off daily in front of the house by the school bus?
JS: Yes.
BANFIELD: But other than that, you didn't see collections of friends coming and going from that house?
JS: No. We didn`t even know they had any children. They just weren't out there doing things.
"They just weren't out there doing things" stands out to me among other statements made by the neighbors.
The Closs's home looked maintained with ornamental items hanging on the exterior, and their landscape looked groomed as well. Jayme was active in several extracurricular activities such as dance. I don't place much clout in the neighbors opinion, it's all subjective.

I grew up very close to Barron WI and also live in the Minneapolis suburbs. I always lock the doors. Even during the day.
This made me gasp. Plenty of meth heads around here looking for a package or a quick buck. I can't imagine leaving the house wide open.

Yes, and I knew I would open myself up to that when I made the post. However, whether people think it's a good idea or not, the point is that it does still happen. I was simply validating another commenter who offered a different scenario.

I wanted to get your thoughts on something that I have been thinking about more and more lately. We've all gone back and forth about if James was coming home to an altercation, or answering the front door. I've never lived in a house like that, but isn't the front door something that is really only ever used by a guest?

People I know with houses arranged like that always enter through the garage. I would even say that most people tend to enter through a door other than the front door.

Maybe I am just babbling!
I dont even have a house like that and I never use my front door.

Yes, he did say they have the phone but will not reveal who it belonged to or whether or not Jayme had her phone with her or even that she had her own phone at all.

They have confirmed it belonged to Denise. I can't look for the link right now, but I keep going back to the summary on page one.

But in DC's obit it says "Denise loved working with her flowers, feeding her birds" to me that doesn't sound like a woman who wasn't out there doing things. If you love feeding birds and gardening you have to go outside to do that. I am not sure how to take the neighbors.

I did a rough measure from the eastern side of their house to the front door of 761 feet.

I thought we determined around 300 yards instead of feet from the Google map. Perhaps that poster can bring the map forward again.

I agree. I didn't grow up in a house like that but in a neighborhood that did have similar houses, and yes - the families usually used the garage entrances. The front door was for guests.

Having said that, if the dad normally parked where his vehicle is in the photos, along the driveway and not by the garage, it's possible he regularly used the front door.

My hunch is, though, the family usually entered the house from the garage level.

Totally depends. I've never entered through my garage because it's full of stuff (lawn equipment, Christmas decorations, etc.) and use the front or patio door.

@BeeGirl said almost what I was going to say. I know many people who only use a side door by their kitchen or only come in through their garage, but just as many don’t use the garage for parking, or maybe only one spouse parks in the garage and the other out front because the garage is used for storing things and yard equipment, hobbies, etc. I think it just depends on the individual/family, but without knowing the Closs family’s habits it would be hard to know what they were likely to do.

ETA - I do not live in the northern Midwest and don’t have many friends that do, but if I lived there in the winter, I would like to park in the garage to keep myself and my car a little warmer than out in the cold/snow or other inclement weather.

I think the only thing of importance that came from the neighbor is the time and the amount of gunshots. That's all they would know. LE is not going to give them details about the case. The time and gunshots are what has consistently been reported from the beginning. There may have been more, but right now what's been reported ( aside from unreliable gossip sites that can't be relied on) is all we have to go on, as far as facts or evidence. Dramatic captions from on line Entertainment sources should not be mistaken as facts in the case. Imo

Yes, and obit mentions she liked working with her flowers. I can't see how, with all the trees between the properties, that the neighbor could really know if she was out there doing anything.

I know my neighbors are outside a lot only because there's a lot of noise with 5 kids playing, even though I can't see them through the trees. There would be a lot less noise with only one shy kid

I believe the time is correct as it has been consistent from the beginning. The very first article said around 12:30, then it was determined to be 12:31. It was repeated in every article ever since. Her clock was seven minutes fast. Once the correct time was established, it was adjusted and that's what LE has gone with ever since. Jmo

We don’t know if LE thinks 12:31. A specific time has never been confirmed by LE. The only place that the 12:31 time has come from is interviews with the neighbor.

They have confirmed it belonged to Denise. I can't look for the link right now, but I keep going back to the summary on page one.

LE has confirmed they have her phone which made the 911 call, but they haven't specified where they found it -- with her body, elsewhere in the house, out in the yard, etc.

True, that is all we have which is better than nothing. I just don't think all realistic theories have to fit that timeline. Interesting how different people can get the same information and come to different conclusions.

I do think think she is more reliable than Radar!

Several sources have said that they were active in the community, always helping people, mom was involved with Jayme s activities, etc. The neighbors don't have young kids. Obviously they do not have the same social contact with someone who has a child involved with lots of activities. Maybe they are the ones that are reclusive. Where I live we are surrounded by trees. The neighbors don't pay attention to what we are doing and I certainly don't know what they do. Jmo
