I’m still feeling optimistic, and perhaps putting all my eggs in one basket... but I’m now relying on the vehicle ID (either the two posted, or maybe more to come) to break open the case. I’m feeling very hopeful.

It’s a small town at midnight on a Sunday. The timeframe to be on the road (and suspicious) is very small.

Does that make sense though when we consider that police have it in the transcript that dad answered the door? Why are you answering the door if someone is already inside the house with you? The only way that makes sense.... hm...

THEORY: someone left and someone came back with the gun(s)? Seems unlikely but police *did* allude to someone may have had a misunderstanding with the family....

This theory would involve dad trying to get out the door.
Which just brought up another idea, thinking back on the suitcase...what if they were trying to leave town suddenly for whatever reason to get away from someone and that someone showed up?

Theory: Jayme was the target and they killed both parents to ensure that she understood that she was to do as she was told because they didn't care that they hurt people she loved most. Who's to say other family members wouldn't be next if she did not comply?
Also if the parents are killed it does multiple things IMO. If the search goes cold and LE eventually winds down it's efforts, you don't have the parents who would keep their own search going as long as they live. The other thing it would do would be take away some hope/fight from JC and make her more compliant knowing her parents can't come save her. Not a happy thought but a reality IMO.

I am curious on how the door was kicked in. There is the ouside glass door and then the exterior wooden door which is covered by the exterior glass door.

How would one hold open the glass door and get enough momentum to kick in the solid wooden door? The door itself was broken . Not the frame. A wooden door that looks about
Thank you. Yes there is a photo where the police are removing a wooden chair which looks like a dining room chair.

I think they had Denise bound to this chair.

Why did they tie her up? What did they want?

Anyone think this might of been a case of the wrong house?

At first I thought it could be possible, but I don’t think so anymore. They likely would have realized the mistake after killing James. No need to go find Denise, kill her, and take Jayme if it were a mistake

I keep asking if it was possible that Jayme died in the house or was unconscious when they took her because I am wondering if they had Denise tied to the chair, made to watch them...do things..to Jayme. If Denise was the target, it could make sense to torture her and then kill her

What if the perp was in the house and an altercation started. Perhaps James said either, "Get out!" or "Let's take this outside." Then, when they got to the door and the fight was escalating, the perp turned on him with a gun.

I'm not saying this happened, but it could have. One of my theories is that the perp was IN the house before the altercation. Other theories place the perp bursting through the door while the family was asleep. I just don't know.

How could the LE know for sure James "answered the door" - I think that was probably an assumption based on the location of the body. It's probably a correct assumption and a logical one, but part of me keeps an open mind that perhaps he was going out the door or kicking someone out the door.

Anyone happen to have both of the guys addresses who were marked as POI at the A&W station?

Search address and the trailer park address.

I'm going to see if the vehicle is tied to them and any potential other name and address. I need both addresses, pls

bbm Link? TIA

I don't see any neighbor closer than the Smrekars. I'll try to attach a screen shot of the area. The Closs property is highlighted in orange. The Smrekars house is circled in red, and other houses are circled in blue.

I do not think this is correct.

I do,not think the orange circled house is their house

Based on vent pipes seen in the roof in aerial photos, I suspect the bathroom was at the right rear of the house. Plus the rear photo shows smaller windows at that corner room.

Based on the time of night, one would expect Jayme was in bed fast asleep. From my own child, I know it sometimes it takes a lot to wake them at that age. Assuming James was shot first and then Denise ran, why would she run to a bathroom? If the location is on the rear half of the house then it's a second floor room. Plus, probably smaller windows to escape through. It's rare any interior door in a house is going to hold up to much so it's not a secure room.

I'm thinking maybe Jayme was still up and taking a bath. Perhaps they'd been out quite a while that day (we know about the family gathering and those can drag on). And we know James worked, so it's easy to imagine Jayme wanting to stay up to tell him something. Or perhaps she was running late with school work. Anyway, if Jayme was taking a bath (school the next morning!) it would explain Denise running to that room. Otherwise why not run to the door to the deck?

Of course it may have just been an all out struggle and she was clawing her way wherever she could.

Currently, I'm thinking somebody got off the evening shift at Jennie-O, went home for a gun, and went to the Closs house in anger. Perhaps they were made at both parents but it didn't extend to the child so they took her with them to decide later. We can see all sorts of ways co-workers could get mad, especially when a couple work at the same place. There's always jealousy, flirting, favoritism, firings, demotions, suspensions, accusations, etc.

You certainly did say it (Perhaps you forgot to put a question mark after this?):

I don't think so. My gut feeling is that whoever did this knew someone inside that house. JMO

I think if there were an official POI right now, we wouldn't be asking about it....we would know!
