AMBER ALERT WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot, 15 Oct 2018 *endangered* #12

moo. I don't think she is willingly involved. no matter a 13 year old can not consent. I think that is important, I hope she knows that at her age she is not at fault. it could be that she attracted some sick persons attention, but that is on them not her.

I think it's safe to wager that the aunt had help from the FBI in crafting the wording of her plea to Jayme.
More than likely, every word was scripted by a member of the FBI's behavioral analysis unit.

Also, I believe the soft drink and the dog were deliberate visual cues from them, but as directed by the FBI. I posted about WHY these things are so powerfully helpful to the victim and to the perp. and people around him ( or them) in this case, Jayme Closs, at the end of the last thread before it was closed.

That much knowledge in how to spark positivity when hope is likely fading comes strictly from behavioral psych. training.

Once again, I applaud the FBI for the non-confrontative communication in this case.

IF Jayme is alive, and can be returned alive, the skills employed by the FBI will likely go a very long way towards humanizing her and also separating her as a person from the violence which occurred in the house. Enough time has passed now for this to be effective. Prior to now, not. The press and that Sheriff have been as focused on the two deceased adults as the missing girl. Also, the perpetrator(s) need emotional distance from the death scenes and Jayme, assuming that she's still living, slim as the chances are, statistically.

Treading carefully here, but a few things did strike me as odd in this press conference. It was almost as if the family were trying to appeal to Jayme to come home...as if she had a choice in the matter.

I don't know...maybe I'm just tired and off my game.

I think you are right. There is alot of research that goes into staging and a great deal of psychology involved. It seems they have an idea of what type of person the perp may be, and they are very carefully and subtly appealing to him or anyone who may know and suspect him. They need to do everything possible to humanize the victim and show her to be the child that she is. Someone said she is a teenager and has gone through puberty already. In my opinion, she is at the beginning of adolescence. She only just turned 13. She is just a little girl in many people's eyes, especially her family. While they want to send a comforting message to Jayme in case she is watching, all the thought and details, the wording, the dog, all of this was done for a specific reason, imo.

Those of us that have followed and prayed about these sort of painful cases are familiar with the frustrating feelings that come with it. We are kept in the dark on clues we'd like to have. You learn to trust LE the professionals know what they are doing and anything we question they have got well in hand. Sometimes things move slowly. Think how frustrated LE (who have actually worked a terrible crime scene) and the family and friends are. Family hesitates to come forward as they know their appearance will be critiqued just as we have seen here. Now is the time to wait patiently, help the family and LE if we can and try to avoid thinking that we have better ideas than they do. Praying she will be found. Please realize sometimes it takes a long time to get answers and sometimes they never come. JMO
Would DNA have came back by now?

I’m not sure how to reply to a message posted at the end of the last thread by a member who said that JC should not be referred to as little. She only turned 13 three months ago and I don’t think she is ‘past puberty’ as was stated in the post. Four months ago she was only 12 which seems pretty young to me. Puberty in girls usually occurs between the ages of 10 and 14 but can occur after age 14.

I agree. It was a less than thoughtful post as the family has talked about her doing thoughtful, child-like things.
"Puberty" is a multi- factor process, both physiological and psychological in maturing, and she was a very young, " barely teen".
Every one of us matured at our own pace, and she seems like a very sweet, young 13 year old to me.
She was or is small, very young, and she is loved very much.

I don’t think Jayme has a choice in coming home. But the message from her aunt definitely made it out to sound that she is alive somewhere.

I hope that Jayme would be encouraged to seek help at any available moment from that presser. Because even if she met someone online or if she was the target of her parents’ murder she maybe feels an immense sense of guilt ... this pressed exemplifies that it doesn’t matter, it’s not her fault and her family doesn’t blame her for anything.

They just want her back home to the people that know her best (iced coffee reference).

Or the Starbucks thing is weirdly placed for another reason? Was there perhaps an online conversation with someone that included a reference to this drink? Is this a way of saying: hey we know who you are and we’re on to you? (Pretty far fetched.)

It's not good to give a perp power by begging him to let his victim go. What works better is to show him that his victim is not an object to serve a purpose for him.
Exactly this! It was an intentional physiological move to basically ignore unsub/s and acknowledge only her. I personally think it was a grand move, and hope it's a giant step in the right direction to get that girl back where she belongs! That's just my opinion though. :)

Starbucks stood out to me as well.

'We'll never stop looking for you,' aunt says amid search for missing 13-year-old
(Includes video of the statement given by Jayme's aunt.)

"Not a moment goes by when we aren't thinking of you and praying for you," Jayme's aunt, JS, said at a news conference Wednesday.

In a message to Jayme, Smith said her dog, Molly, is "waiting for you," adding, "We all love you to the moon and back and we'll never stop looking for you."

"Whoever may know where Jayme is, please contact the Barron County Sheriff's Department," she said.

Aunt speaks out on Jayme Closs disappearance
Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald is asking anyone who was on Highway 8 in Barron between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. October 15 to call the tip line at 1-855-744-3879.

The FBI announced Wednesday there is a $25,000 reward for any information that will lead to finding Jayme.

Oh my goodness. I wasn’t able to watch the presser live, but did read everyone’s comments here about seeing the dog. Now seeing the clip, that is one amazing dog. Not sure if it’s a he or a she, but the dog did a pretty good job in the presser, and I see why so many of you were led to tears.

Good job, little dog.

They did the same with Abby Hernandez.

the coffee could just be something the aunt always got for her and the aunt just couldn't not get it. it could have been more for the aunt than anyone else. a emotional thing that helped her keep a better thought while she was speaking.

Extremely well said. I think we all need to keep this in mind. Very much appreciated Thank you for this, Memphis Bluez!

I believe you are spot-on.

I mean, even telling Jayme that they "love her to the moon and back." Quoting a well-known children's book is a strategic way of communicating to her captor that Jayme is just a child, which is one of your great points.
