That’s certainly possible. My thinking is that they were quite specific in regards to the red Challenger, and less so in regards to the black suv (2 different potential manufacturers).

If there was a high probability that the red car wasn’t a Challenger, I would have expected them to be just as vague as with the black vehicle.

It comes down to how they identified this vehicle in the first place. If it’s security footage that’s one thing, but if it’s an eye witness statement then it has a much higher probability of being wrong.

Time will tell I guess.

Yes. But the person who was certain could've been wrong. Witness memory is notoriously unreliable. However, if they figured it out from video, then yeah - I think no way is it the car.

The Challenger is bothering me. There can't be that many of those in the area, and it's a distinctive car, especially red or orange. Even if it's not someone "local" I doubt if there are too many in the state. It doesn't strike me as the sort of vehicle that is going to be good in the snow.

Well, but, I found about 10 red or orange Challengers within the dates LE specified, listed for sale on the Eau Claire Craigslist just a few days ago. Not all were necessarily in Eau Claire, but were advertised there and several other cities in Wisconsin have Craigslist -- I only checked for Eau Claire.

Just off the bat, I don’t know the lingo/ for WS. Sorry.

Has it been mentioned that Jayme may have had a disability? I worked with ASRD children in my former career. Jayme’s posture in her pics is often poor or slouched and the right side of her body in early images of her (per the family FB) appears to have a disability, especially the right hand. I don’t see it as much with her lastest photos which therapy may have helped. Her school portrait is most noticeable. I did also see an image in the mom’s FB of four or five women in Autism Speaks tshirts, looked like a fundraiser, Jayme is in the front. Anyway, just some observations from a medical professional.

Also, if she had a mild disability and this is known to the perp, perhaps they wouldn’t harm her right away? My whodunit is on either someone who followed mom or dad home from the casino after a win (they pay out in cash) or a relative, by marriage or blood.

I try to keep up with the threads and read them at night when they get locked but still... blah blah blah, you guys know.

So much THIS - but I didn’t quite know how to word it. It seems logical that someone out there was/is preying.

What the heck is this on the front lawn? I increased brightness and contrast a little to make it easier to see.

would emergency rooms, drs, etc be keeping a eye out for anyone that came in with a injury that they could have gotten during a crime?
In the area, for sure. Out of state is anyone’s guess.

IMO, it would be a dumb move for the perp to put this car into the river if it was involved. Why? Because police have insisted that they were looking for a different vehicle. Nobody was/is looking for a Monte Carlo. Plus, dumping the car means it could be checked for trace evidence, and even without a plate, it won't take long to trace the VIN.
Maybe stolen to be used in a crime (not saying this one in particular)then ditched. Not uncommon.

If LE didn't feel pretty sure that those vehicles were involved in this crime, they would also be asking for the OWNERS of said vehicles to come forward as potential witnesses or what have you, and not just for any public sightings, tag numbers, and the context in which they were seen. "Vehicle of interest" is the same legal jargon as "Person of interest", and we all know what the POI moniker typically implies.

Just because a killer is able to come and go and not leave any trace, doesn’t necessarily indicate a high level of planning.

This guy took tremendous risks, lucked out that the neighbors didn’t call the police, and escaped the scene before the police arrived by the skin of his teeth.

Whatever his purpose in committing this crime, there were easier ways to have done it.

I just think luck was on his side that night.

I’m hoping his luck changes.

That certainly gives some food for thought. It may indicate that the perp is familiar with how rural people react to hearing gunshots late at night. That in turn may indicate he is either local or comes from a rural area himself (or herself but right now I think we're looking at a man). So again that raises the possibility that the perp may be hiding out in the wilderness somewhere. Because the temperatures aren't conducive to actually being outside it may mean he's holed up in a house or cabin.

I know I mentioned this before but if he's in a cabin or house - as opposed to on the run - then he has to replenish supplies at some point. IMO clerks at rural stores tend to remember people coming in for food, water, etc. so hopefully if someone recently appeared to be stocking up for the long haul they've let LE know. JMO.
Since I have been following cases for so long now one of the things I have learned is most cases aren't nearly as complex as some may think or make them out to be. Usually what's the easiest route to any conclusion turns out to be correct imo.
Respectfully snipped by me for emphasis.
OBE I'm definitely onboard with you about this. In other cases we've often seen the timeline move around or end up being totally different once the case is solved. LE rarely shows all their cards in the early stages of an investigation.

I think it's worthwhile to continue to question and sleuth everything in Jayme's case so don't get me wrong: I'm just saying that the evidence may make more sense as LE releases more information. And I do believe LE has a lot that we don't know about right now. MOO.

I know some perps insert themselves into the case. Do you think this perp will show up at the funeral tomorrow? Will there be law enforcement there?

I wonder if that’s why the funeral seems so rushed. A trap?

I asked myself " I wonder when they are going to notice the incredibly easy to enter patio door in plain sight?"

KUDOS for noticing another feature of the house. ;)

I commented on the patio door a few times. The cops seemed to have a lot of interest in something(s) on the deck. Everyone keeps talking about the bathroom, but I wondered whether mom was making a run for that back door. And I wondered about what room was located there. Whether that's the end of the living room, a master bedroom, a den? Dining room maybe? (chair). Noone has a patio door in their bathroom. :)

If anyone is jumping in and missed it, a 2000 Monte Carlo was found today submerged in the Fox River in Oshkosh, WI. The car is red with white markings and in very good condition, could not have been in water long.

Car discovered in Fox River in Oshkosh

In the Mark Fuhrman interview, he said, "the red car with white markings".

A poster here even pointed it out that maybe Fuhrman is losing it because the stock photos of the Challenger released by LE are red or orange with black markings. Fuhrman did not correct himself nor did Sandra Smith of Fox say anything.

Your link says yellow markings:
The car appears to be a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo with yellow markings.

Fitzgerald said on Monday that through video camera footage from businesses and homes, they have identified two vehicles that were near the Closs home on Monday, October 15.

Fitzgerald said the first vehicle is likely a 2008-2014 red or orange Dodge Challenger. The second is likely either a 2006-2010 black Ford Edge, or a 2004-2010 black Acura MDX.

At this time, the sheriff's office is not releasing surveillance images of those vehicles.
Jayme Closs' Aunt: 'We'll never stop looking for you'

Oh! It infers they have surveillance video. So no way would FBI experts mistake those two.

I doubt that he will show up, as he’s likely concerned with getting away with this.

Most killers do not go to the funerals of their victims.

Police will certainly be there though.

It looks like an old television antenna on the roof of the house.
Oh, yeah, you're right. Thanks! Darn. Seemed like some really weird pattern of clearing the leaves in the front lawn.
