Is the blue mattress encased in plastic? It appears shiny to me. (If it even is a mattress.)

It does not appear so in the shot of them moving it out. See PommyMommy's screen shot here:

I think items below the deck railing are not in focus so that could be why it looks shiny in the other screenshot. JMO.
ETA: It could also be flowers on the side of the mattress giving it that appearance. IDK.

I’ve seen a few theories that the reason the perp took Jayme was because he knew about the 911 call and didn’t have time to kill her too so he took her with him. Wouldn’t killing her be way faster than taking her with him? Pointing a gun and pulling the trigger and then running fast to his car vs carrying Jayme or holding a gun on her and making her walk to the car then probably putting her in the trunk before taking off. Killing her would be a lot faster. I can see him taking her if he ran out of bullets but not “time”.
I believe he took Jayme because of the 911 call and he had not finished having his "forbidden fun thrills" for the early morning hours, like he wished too.

Yeah, I posted the percentage but I need to update it to 6.53 As of 2017
Good find... but ... many states also allow "open carry". According to this site, Wisconsin does. So no need for a concealed carry permit if you can just waltz around with one in your holster on your belt! Wisconsin Open Carry - USA Carry

I apologize if this has been discussed and I missed it, but the dispatch log mentions a car that was driving back and forth pass the Closs home and was asked to leave. Do we know anything about the car’s occupants and any connection they may have to the family? This sounds highly suspicious to me as it was the middle of the night. Perhaps they had some prior knowledge that something was going to happen that night. JMOO

This has been answered on the thread, a little while back: from memory, 2 young females.

I’m not saying that the time gap didn’t occur. I am skeptical of it, but I am leaning towards it being true.

I simply cannot make sense of it based on the mode of entry, specifically, the apparent blitz style home invasion.

The pivot towards a slow, 20 plus minute prolonged event, is baffling and unusual.
Especially after those very loud gunshots, which he would know could attract attention. Then there is the fact that LE did not ask for anyone driving on that highway for information before 12:30. I understand that they have a good reason for not including it, I just don't know why.

Do you think the whole thing was about having Jayme? And do you think the perps intent was to kill her after he assaulted her?

Reposting the odds that Jayme is alive today, from my earlier post:
  • 46.8% of abducted children who were murdered were found dead in less than an hour .

  • 76.2% of abducted children who were murdered were found dead within the first 4 hours.
  • 88.5% of abducted children who were murdered were found dead within the first 24 hours.
  • 97.9% of abducted children who were murdered were found dead within 7 days."

I have been thinking about the funeral. It wouldn't be uncommon for the perp to attend the funeral of his victims. It makes me wonder who attended. Was LE or FBI present? I also know funerals bring people out of the woodwork too. My ageing mom regularly attends funerals of people she is barely acquainted with anymore (I think she is worried no one will attend hers...trying to build good karma).

I know, in previous cases, LE attend, even without uniforms, mingling with people, often watching their 'proposed' suspect, if there is one.
MOO.

I wonder what is it that made LE state with certainty that JC was in the house at the time of the attack? AFAIK, her voice was not heard on the 911 call and it was not made from her phone.

Maybe. Lack of true facts still leaves us with hundreds of possible motives.

What single motive would applying the principle of Occam's Razor suggest?
So so so difficult to understand or give meaning to. Wishing for more, wishing for her safety right now.

Don't let the "Loud Sound" steer you towards or away from a shotgun being used. While shotguns with bird or buck shot are rather loud, they do not typically break the sound barrier and as a result they do not have the loud "crack" of a projectile breaking the sound barrier. Many centerfire rifles and some handgun cartridge combinations can break the sound barrier. The orientation between the soundwave's direction of travel and the person hearing the gun get fired will have a huge impact on the level of sound heard.

If a shot is made outdoors the direction of the wind makes a difference on how loud the shot sounds too.

Haaa agreed. I never go with the “random psychotic killer” in cases like this, so the fact that this is still on the table for me, is indicative of just how bizarre this case is.
You know though, I truly think this case will be solved and we’ll look back and think maybe we should have seen it all along. I suspect something we’re assuming is true is way off and preventing us from seeing what’s right in front of us.

When I first saw a headline regarding this case, I must admit, my immediate thought was that the daughter had a boyfriend and they conspired together. I have seen that on the news many times. However, in all of those cases (that I can think of) the teenagers were caught within a few days. I don’t see two young kids pulling something like this off for this length of time. And as more information has come out about Jayme, she just doesn’t seem like the type. Truly baffling and sad.
I agree. If this had been a couple of teenagers they would have been found by now. I'm still not convinced this wasn't someone infatuated with Jayme tho, just older.

So the reason i say druggie might of hit the wrong house is I expirenced it first hand. I happened to have the same car as a meth dealer who lived a few miles down the road from me. The guy ripped off some people and they came up on in my driveway and set my car on fire. They thought it was is his car.

That is horrid.
You, or your family could have been hurt.:(:(
Very frightening.

First time poster here....
I’ve been reading these pages. I’m not sure if I missed it somewhere. I read she ran cross country at school. I’ve had kids in cross country, and they are out and about running around town and country roads, woods. Usually they are in groups.
Someone on their running route could have seen her, got a fixation and obsessed. I’m hoping LE has checked out that angle.
Great forum btw.

I'm leaning this way too....that we have what we believe to be a fact is incorrect. What do we believe is a fact but if it weren't would change our mindset?

The two were an 18 year old and a 17 year old. There is no family connection that is known. They do live a good distance away and they had either been driving through and saw something going on or they had heard about something going on via a scanner and took a drive to see what was going on. That seems to be the consensus.
