Please LE. Dont let this get cold. Release the call. Make finding Jayme your #1 priority, deal with building a case later!

I hope LE has strong leads that they are working on and just making sure they have all the evidence they need.

I was hoping they could have found her by now. If LE isn't getting any closer, then maybe it's time they provided more information and see if the public can help.

It's a horrible, tragic thing that happened to this family.

Whenever there isn't news from the investigative team, I think that they are working furiously in the background. They must have quite a bit of data to go through.

I understand what you mean about releasing more information. Sometimes a person doesn't realize they saw something that is important to this case. That's when more information can be useful. The information can jog their memory or something might "click".

I hope and pray that Jayme can be found alive. I know we all wish for a good outcome for this wonderful young child.

This situation doesn't look good but there is always hope.

I like the idea of thinking of places someone could encounter Jayme (or her family--whomever we believe to be the main target) just in day-to-day life. IMO right now I am leaning toward someone who knows them in passing/in an acquaintance way. I just saw an episode of the ID show "Murder Comes to Town" where the family's regular pizza delivery guy (and accomplices) robbed them and killed their daughter.

I'm not pointing fingers at their pizza guy in particular, but IMO it could be someone along those lines--they know of the family and the family knows of them, but they are not a "regular" in their life, so LE may not have even thought to question them. I just feel like if it was a work vendetta, that would be really obvious (maybe not, but I feel someone else would have heard about it and that person would be exhibiting telling behavior).

So...delivery people? Mail people? Regular cashiers at stores in town (with it being a small town, I'm assuming there aren't a ton of stores, so they probably frequent the same places). Contractors to the home? Volunteers at Jayme's school?

Also, on a separate note about not parking in the garage--in my neighborhood, most houses have attached garages but I'd say about 80% of neighbors park their cars outside because they use their garage as additional storage for stuff.

ITA. The stuff from my parents' home fills half of our garage. It's taking forever to go through it because most is very sentimental.

You raise an interesting point about "delivery" people and I sincerely hope LE is carefully examining this possibility because DS and Jayme had attended a family gathering earlier. Did they take a gift and did they buy the gift online?

Many of us in my semi-rural area rely heavily on Amazon. They make deliveries on Sunday and use US Postal Service vehicles in our area but they aren't postal service employees. The boxes are placed on our front porch rather than left at our roadside mailbox.

JMOO - Probably way off but maybe...….
It could be possible that the altercation started way before gun shots and 911 call.

The grandfather stated early on that Mom and Jayme were at the family party, Dad was working. I don't think that would be something a person would lie about, why would he? Maybe Dad picked up a shift because he wanted to take Tuesday after the "big game" off, maybe they were short staffed IDK.

If he worked and if he got off at 12-12:30 he could have tried to call on his way home as usual and got no answer. Saw an unfamiliar car in the driveway or something else suspicious, rushed to the front door and was met by the perp (aware he is coming in). Shots fired, JC down in the doorway. Mom tied to kitchen chair while perp was "interacting with" Jayme or even vice versa. Jayme or Mom managed to get to the phone to dial 911 the perp saw/heard it, shot Mom and took off with Jayme.

I think it could be someone known to the family....maybe a friend/acquaintance of a relative who spent time around Jayme outside of Mom/Dad's presence?

I would first like to hear the 911 call, secondly would like to see the phone records for Mom, Dad and Jayme. That would paint a much clearer picture in my mind. I don't think it was random and I don't think it was a wrong address type of deal.

Again, pure speculation on my part, MOO, and so on.

Someone may have mentioned this already, but the Barron Area Community Center has a running track and is a very busy place as per yellowpages:

“ The center serves... more than 180,000 visitors annually and over 1,500 members from nearly 35 communities.”

wonder if they went door to door in that neighborhood
Not likely even before this case. People don’t generally trick or treat off highways with houses this far apart. It’s not really a neighborhood.

The Barron County Fair 2018 was July 18-22 in Rice Lake. That was a big deal when I grew up in a semi- rural area. Wonder if the Closs family went?

Rice Lake has a Skate City and a hockey rink, a Perkins Restaurant and a Walmart.
And there’s a Culver’s in Rice Lake.
The dance studio appears to be in Rice Lake.

14 miles, less than 20 minutes

The simple solution is one that is direct and close by, but this case does not appear to be simple or involve the concept of close by. What happened IMO involved someone after the parents, for what reason I have no idea. That's just my latest feeling (which frequently changes).

I haven't seen enough photos of the house to see if they had a basement beyond the garage. JMO

The photos of the front of the house show a window at ground level right next to the deck. The overhead photo also shows what appears to be windows at the ground level in the back. So it appears there is a basement beyond the garage. There are piles of -something- on the back of the house. Could be wood? Maybe a wood burning furnace in the basement? Just a guess.

Whenever there isn't news from the investigative team, I think that they are working furiously in the background.

Today they said, "No new updates but we have received over 2100 tips and have closed over 1975 of them and continue to work on this case." That means they are still working on 125+ tips. I try to stay optimistic on this.

If only we had a VI here who could tell us how their home layout is configured.

If I recall right, the perv entered through the patio door, and said Jayme's bedroom was to the right.

If noone knows anybody that could have done this, someone mad at them or a recent dispute, etc. then it must be a stranger. They need to look for or inquire about an OUT OF STATE car that was seen anywhere near their area lately. The internet could bring anybody into the area.

Yes this is exactly what I have been thinking all along. Thanks for taking the time to express it! I hope this is LE thought process and are holding it close and have something. I sense a tragic ending for Jayme, can't imagine her being alive at this point.

I am concerned that the sheriff is running on "hope." Hope limits you. Does he not have facts this far out from the event?
I understand exactly how you feel. I'm a realist and I have limited patience for just having "hope". I hits my last nerve. I must admit.

At 10 years old my niece held a toy drive at her school for Children's Hospital. Organized and ran the whole thing. She was highlighted in the newspaper. And that's how she acquired a stalker.
Abominable beast.
Maybe Jayme was featured through her activities locally in some manner.

I completely agree. I think in the minds of the per or perps, it was a "rescue" mission that perhaps went sideways. Lack of evidence suggests to me, it was planned. People just don't decide on a whim on a Sunday night, rural area..."hey..lets do this".
I think they have Jayme and the cops know she went with them....
I think the family has some sort of dark secrets and the lack of outcry is not typical of cases where a young girl is abducted.
I don't see it as a rescue mission at all, instead I see it as an "I want her and be damned if her parents don't agree. They can't keep me from her, I'll get rid of them and just take her", situation. JMO

Maybe their thought was to use her for ransom and then that plan went South.
Ransom to whom? They have already killed her parents, no one is wealthy in her family, so who?

The thread is slowing without anything new coming in from media coverage, which is our main source for info.

I did submit the tip about the strange sighting of a car that fit the description of one of the two but have heard nothing back (it was a sighting in North Georgia, so I still feel a bit of an amateurish cringe that I did, but at the same time, glad I did, just in case).

I am not sure how tips are ruled out... I think they were up to 2,100 today, with less than 300 not ruled out as of today. The investigative team is working fast.

It does mean to me to solve this crime, tips need to keep coming, and her picture needs to continue be put up on billboards across the country. It might work out in a few weeks like it did for Shasta. JMO.

Night all.

Hey everybody … way too many off-topic posts had to be removed in this thread.

Please stick to discussing THIS case, and if you introduce another aspect, please make it clear how you think it relates to THIS case. And, as usual, keep the politics out of the discussion or Warning Points and/or Timeouts will be issued.

Thanks.
