Could James have come home just as killer was exiting with Jayme?

NO FACEBOOK RUMORS, NO FACEBOOK COMMENTS, NO RUMORS IN GENERAL.

Short of closing the thread I don't know what to do. I'm still not done cleaning up all the posters quoting a post that is obviously against TOS.

Do not quote posts that violate our rules, alert on those posts.

If I can be more clear please let me know because I am at a loss of what else we can do to get everyone to understand our rumor rule.

If it is a rumor and it is not supported by a mainstream media post then it is not allowed.

That is about as clear as I can get. Wait, I'll post this in different languages.

Swahili: Kama ni uvumi na si mkono na mkondo mkuu wa habari baada basi hairuhusiwi.

Chinese: 如果这是一个谣言,它是不是由主流媒体支持后则是不允许的。

Welsh: Os yw'n si ac nid yw'n cael ei gefnogi gan post cyfryngau prif ffrwd, yna nid yw'n cael ei ganiatáu.

There are so many other languages. If you want more translations go to THIS PAGE! It is very helpful.

Could James have come home just as killer was exiting with Jayme?
Very possible and it would explain the stepping over of a body.

Sadly, I feel like this is where the case goes cold. :(

I think there is still a lot of analysis and discovery to go before it can be qualified as "cold". I'd qualify it as "frustrating". Where's Abby Sciuto when you need her? :)

Ok just clarifying, bc i feel like i have heard this mentioned more than once.
If the instructions regarding the half eaten McD's cheeseburger were to be taken literately perhaps they were a favourite of Jayme's however she normally only consumed half, therefore if the person(s) she is with have treated her to one, she would discard half.

There are videos of their interviews

And interviews can be edited. And how they are edited can make a difference in how they “appear” and “sound”. I know this because my husband and I shoot video and edit video. He and I can edit a clip very differently which results in a different outcome.

All this talk about the cheeseburger in the town hall notes, and here I am thinking the line about seeing a "scarf" on your property was oddly specific.

I hope it's ok to post this, but the details were posted by a member of the community. Apologies if already posted.

This is the same "half eaten cheeseburger" reference as before. From the community meeting on the 17th that media was not invited to.

Does not appear to be a second mention.

She is 13 so its not likely she is going to be out playing in the yard.
Actually and respectfully I disagree with this as I have 12 soon to be 13 year old twins (boy/girl) and both still occasionally ‘play’ out in the yard on the trampoline or with their basketball or scooter and Ramps.
I think that there are extremes of age and maturity displayed depending on the individual and the area they reside etc
An example is my niece is 11 and lives inner city area and already has ‘boy’ friends that she hangs out with and in fact went trick or treating with 2 of them last evening. However, my two kids, her cousins, are only interested in friends from school ( O goes to an all Boys school and A goes to an all girls school) and would not feel confident enough or comfortable to go out trick or treating, alone with just a friend or two and in the dark . They are much more innocent in their age group even though a little older. It’s the old adage of letting them be kids for as long as possible as far as I ( and they too feel like that) am concerned. Whereas my sisters approach is totally different, allowing her 8 year old son to play age 18 x box games and letting her (just ) 11 year old daughter go to bed at 11pm on a school night and watch inappropriate TV programmes etc
I’m fact, sadly , this same niece was run over by a car last night whilst out with friends ,trick or treating ,in the dark at 8pm and as much as it could happen to anybody, at that age you really aren’t equipped to cross major busy roads with little street lighting because you are too busy messing around with friends which seems to be the case here . Had it been me, I would have been with my kids and although it could still have happened, it would have been less likely as I would not have let them mess about whilst crossing a busy road in the dark! Fortunately, she is ok and just bruised and scratched albeit shook up and initially she was giggling with her two friends whilst telling Mum and LE until the seriousness of it became apparent. ( it was a hit and run ). I’m so thankful that she’s ok as it easily could have been worse. And I know that I cannot wrap my children up in cotton wool and that they need to learn for themselves, and they do so. But my hubby and I just approach it in a different way ( probably because we are both LE). For eg we tell our children the truth about the big bad world out there ( as well as the good stuff ) so that they know to be aware of their surroundings and what can potentially happen. My kids know sanitised versions of 9/11, child exploitation, Jamie Bulger murder et al ( you get my drift) yet my sister thinks that her daughter is too young to know any of this yet ???
Sometimes it’s the million dollar question as to how we parent so differently yet we had the same upbringing.
Sorry to ramble

Le often gives examples of what people should look out for in searching, just as they do about noticing the behavior changes in people around them...imo they would NOT give out specifics. Just as the perp may NOT have missed work, yet they always include this.

Also they have no clue whether or not Jayme is alive. Imo they have reason to believe she left the house alive, but there the trail ends. Any sort of “proof” would give FBI enough to go on to track down her and/or perp, i.e any sort of contact with anyone etc...they have to stick to the idea that she is alive to keep generating tips, keep the public aware and engaged and because there is no evidence she is not alive.
All jmo but from following hundreds of cases as well

Yes. For some reason people have taken the "seeing feet" part as if it meant his feet were seen beyond the door and that may not be the case at all simply because as officers got closer and closer to the house and with an open door would be able to see further into the house as they got closer and be able to see even further if lights were on in the room beyond the front door.

So there is no way for us to determine just how close James was to the door.

Same with his position. His body may not have been found in line with the door and for example, could have been perpendicular to the door with only his feet visible from the vantage point of approaching the front door and the rest of him only observable by entering the front door and looking to the right. We simply do not know.

I agree that we simply don't know.

But you have to put yourself in the shoes of the officer arriving. It was noted on the dispatch log that one of the officers thought JC was answering the door. What would indicate this? Obviously the body was near the doorway. The way I picture it is that the bullet wound was to the front of his body and that he had fallen backwards. Any other positioning of the body or if the bullet wound were in the back would not indicate he was answering the door to an intruder. While we can't take much from the dispatch log, this one instance where it is pretty clear to me.

I read this as well.. Now I am looking to find how to pull all the calls for that day or even that week.
If true there would be footage from the store.

I think you are exactly right. For one thing, we really don't know that Mrs Smrekar said things in the order that they were reported. I have, and many other WSers have pointed out that even though the media uses quotes, many statements are out of order, words left out, context removed, the exact wording of the reporter's question is not accurate, etc. Some media are genuinely trying to do the right thing without realizing how it sounds, and others intentionally reword things for sensationalism.

I believe the part about not knowing the Closs's had children could have gone something like this-

Reporter: So did you know Jayme?

Joan: No! For years I didn't even know the Closs's had children.

Reporter: So when did you become aware of her?

Joan: Last year when I saw her get off the school bus every day. (Remember, she had attended school in another district and was bussed to a caregiver' house until about a year ago. Then after the caregiver moved to Barron, Jayme had to switch to the Barron school and was delivered to the Closs house for the first time.)

THERE IS VIDEO OF THE INTERVIEWS

I agree. I am surprised there has not been a breakthrough in this case. I havent been able to follow this thread except for right at the beginning when it happened.

My gut reaction at the time is something or someone at that Sunday family gathering may be involved with this.

Its too bad there was not a miracle way to see a video of everyone she had contact with at the gathering.
Maybe a 3rd cousin or maybe a friend of a cousin was there and spotted her from a distance and gave him a crazy idea to do something like this.

The video of the gas station vehicle was strange with the way the person shifted to back seat. It makes me think the people somehow knew her. Maybe not close but I do think they somehow knew her. That family gathering is what I keep going back to because I dont like coincidences in cases like this and that was way too close to the abduction.
What gas station vid? In Miami? That was not her.

... the only person(s) who heard anything were the neighbors [the Smrekars].

Is there a source for this? Did LE confirm that no other neighbors heard anything?

I know the area where the body was found in Kandiyohi County. It is near an old wooden bridge, just outside of Willmar. A place where kids go to screw around, kinda secluded, but still close to town. We used to go out there as feral youth. Could be a random person from out of the area, but I'd guess it is someone with ties to the Willmar area.

Welcome Rural. :):):)
Being a local in the area of Kandiyohi County, provides us with further info.
Thanks.
How close is this area to the Closs case?
