Not sure I buy that. Could the sheriff be trying to throw the perp off? I still think that if it was something from online, there'd be a POI by now and a description, even if they didn't know where the POI was.

I would imagine the online focus will be on the accounts of Jayme, Denise, and James. Snapchat/etc. leaves few traces, however.

Hello,

Long time watcher. First time poster.

This case baffles me. Honestly, I think think one area that is being far overlooked is the neighbor. I see over and over again it could be a crime of opportunity, and JC could have been watched for a period of time.

I paused for a long time at this, and thought, okay, the only person(s) who heard anything were the neighbors. JS stated she heard gunshots. TS was already outside, wrangling their dog.

In most cases we all read, criminals like to insert themselves into the crime scene. They have done multiple interviews and shows with their information. If you dig further, it appears TS has been involved in many lawsuits both for and against. It appears as well, if all the pieces fit, he owns properties.

By no means am I saying they are criminals or they did it, however, I am saying, the perp or perps may be much closer to home than folks think.

Welcome bobsburgers to your first Post. :):):)

A nearby neighbour knowing about the Closs family, and the gathering on the day, knowing James was working, may be involved.
The neighbour may provide info for 'other' interested parties, and they act.
MOO.

Welcome Rural. :):):)
Being a local in the area of Kandiyohi County, provides us with further info.
Thanks.
How close is this area to the Closs case?

I'd say Willmar, MN is about four hours west of Barron, WI. As another poster noted, Jennie-O was founded in Willmar by Earl B. Olson. I am still not convinced the body here is related to the Closs case. The local Drug and Gang task force and the MN BCA are involved. As has been stated, I would assume the FBI would be involved if it was Jayme. West-Central Tribune is the newspaper for Willmar, if you are interested.

BBM. There are many different degrees of "homelessness", though. Homeless people can literally live on the street, taking shelter under eaves and in tunnels during the night. However, many homeless people do have roofs over their heads, and even jobs and transportation-they just couch surf and stay with friends/family. My sister and her 4 kids were homeless for more than a year. They technically had a place to live (two of our spare bedrooms) but were still classified as "homeless" since it was a temporary arrangement. Homeless people can definitely have vehicles and even jobs; they just don't have enough resources to secure permanent housing and, as a result, must either stay with people they know or take up residence in a temporary shelter.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) , a homeless person is "an individual without permanent housing who may live on the streets; stay in a shelter, mission, single room occupancy facilities, abandoned building or vehicle; or in any other unstable or non-permanent situation. " What is the official definition of homelessness?

Guns and ammo ARE expensive (guns can be pricey, the ammo I use is relatively cheap) but sometimes people's priorities don't quite line up to what one would think the logical order should be.

I'm not sure how I feel about the theory of Jayme meeting a homeless person and inviting them over (although that's kind of what happened with Elizabeth Smart's family), but the possibility that she or her family extended some kindness to someone who interpreted it as something else still exists.

That is true about homeless.Different categories for sure. But the ones such as your relatives probably were not eating at a soup kitchen or at a place that would be serving the homeless, would they?

If true there would be footage from the store.
From what I read there is video inside the store of her and mom there that evening.

The body in Wilmar was badly decomposed. 2 weeks wouldn't yield investigators saying, "badly decomposed."

Then read the unedited transcripts

CNN.com - Transcripts

@bizzle2 - this from the rushed transcript-

“BANFIELD: Even though this is fairly rural, you are right next door, correct?

SMREKAR: Right”

This isn’t correct, is it?
I was under the impression the 2 houses are not “right next door”... technically, their land is adjacent, but the houses are not next door like in a subdivision, are they?

And later from the transcript-
“SMREKAR: No, and I don`t sleep well at night and I was about at the boat. 1:00 --ish and our dog was on the porch and he was doing some light noises “

Boat? What boat?
And I have never heard anyone say their dog was “doing some light noises”. Either the transcript is really off or Wisconsin has some phrases that I haven’t heard. Will ask my DIL.

Actually is it close to anything in this case? There is sometimes a link when somebody is found. Thinking of Hanna Graham and how she was found in Jesse's grandma's vicinity.

Any update at all on the body found at Kandiyohi County yesterday afternoon? It's been 24 hours now, surely must be some news if only its whether the body is Male or Female?

How long does it take for a body to decompose outside?
Generally, it could take about a year for the body to decompose into a skeleton in ordinary soil and eight to twelve years to decompose a skeleton. And if a dead body is inside a coffin and buried deep underground, it could even take 50 years to decompose all tissues on the body.

I'm pretty sure that's animal abuse. The article probably referred to the dog only getting treats if he finds something.

Correct. Those dogs are insured for hundreds of thousands of dollars and are brought in from highly populated areas. They work daily in some cases and are fed the best food money can buy.

Treats however act as rewards when they are working.

If WS had a “are you *#!%ing kidding me” button, I would select it. Can’t hit like
for this one... :’(

I never knew this. When there are pleas for someone to tell what they know, I always figured the perp was a loner and nobody knew anything.

Its certainly possible. Many who eat at soup kitchens have a place to live although they fall into the homeless category. And Soup kitchens are not just for the homeless. As far as I know, they do not turn anyone away. Where I live, being homeless is not a requirement needed to eat at any place that provides meals to the public. In fact, many people who have their own apartments but have little money for food eat at such places.

Thanks for posting this. These guys do a rational analysis of this baffling case. I live one county away and this is the worst crime that's ever happened around here. It's discouraging to hear the investigation is being scaled back. I pity that poor girl.

I think the perp is a local person flying below the cop's radar screen. Somebody with secret homicidal tendencies who became obsessed with Jayme. Somebody who observed her and learned where she lived but that didn't draw attention to himself. In this largely rural area there are hundreds of isolated farms and homesteads. I think the perp is a guy similar to Jaenke-Annis but with more dangerous proclivities. In other words, not just a guy obsessed enough with Jayme to enter the Closs home to steal the missing girl's panties and dress, but to kick in the door, murder the parents, and abduct Jayme herself. Same type guy, only more radical, more intense, and more dangerous. If he stole Jayme to make her his secret, prisoner wife, she may be still alive. The alternative is too sad to talk about.

Welcome Herb.Wis.:):):)
A first time poster.
Living nearby, being aware of rural areas and farms, your idea of a 'local' with obsessive traits, may be possible in these homicides and Jayme's disappearance.
MOO.

I did not hear that they were outside with the dog. Is there a video? I saw the video on Daily Mail about 1:12 seconds in and he is stating that he was falling asleep when she woke him up and asked if that was gunshots. Is that a legit site?

Barron County Sheriff's Department

November 1, 2018

The Barron County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank all of our law enforcement agency partners who have assisted and continue to assist us in the mission to bring 13 year old Jayme Closs home. Each agency contributed an unbelievable amount of resources to this investigation, and we could not be more appreciative of the help from our local police and sheriff’s departments, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

I want to reassure the great residents of Barron County and everyone else across the nation who continue to support and follow this case that we have left no stone unturned. As of today, we have transitioned our Emergency Operations Center from a 24/7 reactive operation to a more deliberate and methodical effort to progress the investigation. This is based on a declining number of tips. However, we will continue to fully investigate those remaining tips and new information we receive going forward. This case remains our number one priority and we will have agents from both the FBI and DCI continuing to support our local investigators until we bring Jayme home.

To date we have received over 2100 tips and we follow up on every one of them and all of them have been contacted in some sort and follow up is being conducted. Again, just because the posture of our operations center has transitioned, does not mean the tips should stop. We still have a team on-call, to handle them as they come in. Please continue to call in your tips - there is a tip out there that will help us solve this case and bring Jayme home.

We built a great team of investigators to work this case and they spent the last 18 days, around-the-clock, going over information from social media platforms, phone records, family, friends, coworkers and every other kind of tip that has come in. They have worked with passion, determination and resilience to solve this case and bring Jayme home. I am so proud of each and every one of them. They were only able to do this due to the overwhelming support from the community with meals, tipsters and search volunteers that continue to keep our hope alive. We also want to thank the families of all of the law enforcement personnel assigned to this case, as most of these hard working individuals have been home very little, and that family support means the world to us and this case.

We will continue to actively work this challenging investigation, but again, I want to thank everyone across the county for all of the help so far, through your tips, messages of hope, support and prayers. However, none of us are done until we bring Jayme home.

Please continue to call in tips, again the Tip Line is
1-855-744-3879. We are here waiting to hear from you.

[email protected]

Sheriff Fitzgerald

My tip is that I don’t want to hear this! My tears are flowing.
