Or playing Solitaire 'till dawn, with a deck of 51 . . . smokin' cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo . . . :D

Still no Jayme. Glad to see the LE statement about focusing on social media. I think we all suspected LE was doing so, but it is nice to see Sheriff Fitzgerald indicate this.

so says the Statler Brothers...

As for SM, I wonder how extensive the search is. JC, DC and Jayme? Or will it extend to a much wider net?

The body found in Willmar MN is 155 miles away. And nothing other than that’s been released.

So they saw her using the bus but didn't now they had a child. Quite contradicting. These people irritate me. Their constant interviews and this kind of contradiction. Shady imo. Not saying they are involved but def shady type people. MOO

They probably did not know they had Jayme until the school bus dropped her off. Remember, before she attended a different school and probably was picked up and was not taking the school bus. Did the other school bring her by bus? I don’t think so as she went to the “caretaker” who is the aunt, I believe.

How long does it take for a body to decompose outside?
Generally, it could take about a year for the body to decompose into a skeleton in ordinary soil and eight to twelve years to decompose a skeleton. And if a dead body is inside a coffin and buried deep underground, it could even take 50 years to decompose all tissues on the body.
Know the Time That a Corpse Takes to Decompose - EnkiVillage
www.enkivillage.org/how-long-does-it-take-for-a-body-to-decompose.html
I do remember from reading about decomposition that the two week mark is about when the hair and fingernails fall off. A year seems like a long time to fully decompose, but it also depends on environment, temperature, insect activity, etc. But if I remember correctly after 2 months there is not much left in terms of flesh. For a rural Sheriff I think he’s handling this with brilliance. Every single move he’s made has been thoughtful, informative and dependable. If I can see any shortcoming at all is the lack of press availability to everyone. He has instead been guarded, which may be necessary, and given specific interviews. It may be he trusts some more than others or it may be advice he’s been given. But I think it inflamed the public and most certainly the remains media.

I agree he is doing a fine job. I'll never forget his press conferences. He was full of emotion and seemed to be shedding a few tears himself.
Heaven only knows what those men saw in that crime scene.
Probably enough to make a grown man cry!

@bizzle2 - this from the rushed transcript-

“BANFIELD: Even though this is fairly rural, you are right next door, correct?

SMREKAR: Right”

This isn’t correct, is it?
I was under the impression the 2 houses are not “right next door”... technically, their land is adjacent, but the houses are not next door like in a subdivision, are they?

And later from the transcript-
“SMREKAR: No, and I don`t sleep well at night and I was about at the boat. 1:00 --ish and our dog was on the porch and he was doing some light noises “

Boat? What boat?
And I have never heard anyone say their dog was “doing some light noises”. Either the transcript is really off or Wisconsin has some phrases that I haven’t heard. Will ask my DIL.

JMO

They are the nearest neighbor in terms of being on the same side of the road and both having addresses on highway 8. Whether there are other residential neighbors closer in terms of yards from the house I don't think most of us know. I haven't been there with my measuring tape.

"At the boat" = "about"
"some light noises" = "his business" (the kind from his rear end)

Not every word is correct in the transcript, but it puts every word in the interview into context. This was all on TV so there is video of all of it.

Also it has been mentioned that you cannot see the Closs property from where the Smrekar's live. Which begs the question: How did they see her get off the bus outside her home every day?

The bus would let her off on the highway I am sure. A school bus would not go up that driveway

I agree that we simply don't know.

But you have to put yourself in the shoes of the officer arriving. It was noted on the dispatch log that one of the officers thought JC was answering the door. What would indicate this? Obviously the body was near the doorway. The way I picture it is that the bullet wound was to the front of his body and that he had fallen backwards. Any other positioning of the body or if the bullet wound were in the back would not indicate he was answering the door to an intruder. While we can't take much from the dispatch log, this one instance where it is pretty clear to me.

Can I just say that from my own experience of being dispatched to an incident via the Police radio, you have to take what is initially on the dispatch log for 911 with a pinch of salt. I say this because from my personal perspective and that of my colleagues, attending incidents in inner city Liverpool U.K. , you don’t really know what you have in front of you when you first arrive at scene and it can be a minute or two for you to realise what’s happened or what you think you are dealing with. All the while transmitting this information over the radio . And then the officer who inputs the information on the computer log is literally transcribing as quickly as possible, the information that you are passing, but from their own perspective and using their own words and terminology. At the same time of doing this, they are also making contact with a supervisory officer, the Detective dept , the Area commander ( or whoever is in charge of that Policing area to update them of a potential serious situation that requires a strategy to deal with the media and enquiries from the Prime Minister Office ) , ascertaining who the SIO is and calling them out, calling out Forensic teams, calling out Search trained and armed response officers ( UK cops are not routinely armed with guns ), obtaining previous incident data for the address , making initial contact with Mobile phone providers that there is an incident commenced that may need real time input ) , and tasking the Force Intelligence Unit to obtain recent information from all the Force systems of intelligence re the address attended
All this is going on at super speed and it’s only a couple of operators along with the Forve Incident Commander, doing all of these initial actions to get the ball rolling. And as I said before, this is all being done whilst communicating over the Police radio with attending officers AND updating the log ( 999 or 911 record ). So you really can’t put too much thought into what was said by whom or what instruction given at what time or when the reason for attendance code / title was changed and by whom or who was in the house and now appears to be missing. All this information gathering is taking place in real time and bring actioned accordingly and the operator is run ragged at this point and high on adrenaline trying
to fulfill a checklist of what needs implementing and updating it all on the computer. So he answered the door becomes he’s at the foot of the door or his feet are out of the door or the door has been kicked in, no not kicked from my perspective, it’s been shot in etc etc etc
If you get my inference?
That’s why when a case finally goes before the Court, the initial log of call and the information thats then inputted can be a huge source of confusion leading the defence to create huge reasonable doubt among a jury straight away as if the initial call info isn’t clear as to what’s what and what happened then how can LE be sure of anything. It’s s typical defence strategy to attack policy and procedures rather than evidence in the U.K. although they do attack the evidence chain too.
I hope this helps you understand all the different information first released .

Oh, Geeze... Now I'm going to have that song in my head for two days. o_O :D

Why would they use an electronics sniffing dog? I mean, yeah, they could be looking for Jayme's cell phone or tablet or something but it's not like she had time to hide it in the wall or pipes or something. It seems odd/extreme to me but maybe I am missing something obvious? And that the dog is generally used to find electronics used in CP... what?? Do they think there was something vile going on in the Closs home? Someone tell me I'm reading too much into it.

Could it be possible that Jayme had lost her phone privileges recently (or didn't actually own her own phone but LE suspected she had purchased one on her own) and LE, being unable to locate her phone, was determined to find it? I know there are a few photos with Jayme holding a cell phone but maybe it wasn't hers.

Exactly. Gut feeling authorities need to take a deeper dive into this (they might have already). TS also has a few different pseudonyms he goes by. It may be all coincidence. I apologize if it is. JMO

People who have visited the neighbors?

  • #932
Correct. Those dogs are insured for hundreds of thousands of dollars and are brought in from highly populated areas. They work daily in some cases and are fed the best food money can buy.

Treats however act as rewards when they are working.
As well as the best treat of all , it’s favourite toy ( most often it’s ball )

Yes, I don't think there is any indication that they are "shady." Maybe just a little confused or at least not very observant. Maybe they meant they never knew they had a child until the last few years. They did say they thought they lived there for seven years. Maybe they never noticed Jayme until she started school. I think it's just a matter of either poor reporting or communication problems. I certainly did not get the impression that they are shady. Jmo

I have looked everywhere but cannot find an overhead map where I can look around for other houses. It's driving me batty because I see nothing but the Closs home and the neighbors next door. Any help with a link would be much appreciated!

An electronics sniffing dog??? Be still my heart!

I know this is so aggravating to some when someone comes in late asking for a recap of today's updates but would someone be kind enough to do it only this time for me?

We are still having major problems with the aftermath of hurricane Michael. I am wanting to pull my hair out after 20 days of it. Sorry for going off topic.

Anyway any updates anyone will give me will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

If there are other kids around her bus stop might not have been directly in front of her house. Mine rarely was, it was always down the street a bit.

I do not think there are other child homes plus they live on a busy highway. The school bus is not going to have a child walk down a busy highway, IMO

Always worry about first reports accuracy. Initial report stated suicide which makes me believe head shot. Then changed to homicide when multiple cartridges and bodies found with no firearm.

Also find it hard to believe that no DNA or finger prints of non family members found. Yes, LE holding back if found but that means they do not match known individuals. Or, extremely lucky criminals that I find even harder to believe.

They are tucked in the woods. Across the street is more woods. It looks to be nearly 700 feet to the driveway of the nearest neighbors, with a lot of woods in between. (Per Google maps) That's a pretty long way. Way too far to simply see into the neighbor's yard, especially in the woods.

I remember reading about a 'house across the street' so I'd like to see where more houses are located.
