Just bringing this post forward again to answer members questions about forensic submissions / DNA

It all depends on how it’s categorised ie. urgent submission can be turned around result wise in 24-36 hours BUT what you have to realise is the cost of doing so is prohibitive and if you only have one or two items for submission as URGENT then it’s achievable but in a case like this, items would have to be carefully scrutinised and considered if financially viable as part of the forensic strategy because no matter how much we like to think that there are infinite pots of money for LE to use ( or even FBI for that matter) on such investigations, the reality is that there isn’t and sometimes very difficult decisions have to be taken ( and cost unfortunately is a factor when you consider how many cases per day would need URGENT DNA submissions).
I would think the FBI and other LE would be aware of this and prioritize accordingly.

A few days ago, I scoffed at the idea that it was a co-worker of the parents because I figured a co-worker would likely have been noticed by now. Someone pointed out that it could be a former co-worker. I've been on the company's local facebook page and looking at profiles. Nothing of serious note, but what a rabbit hole I've found myself digging into.

Quoting myself to add this rough transcription from the video, during which Sheriff Fitzgerald speaks:

From the video (at 00:48), transcribed by me:

REPORTER (voiceover): I asked the Sheriff earlier this week, if he will release the 911 call from the Close family home that is apparently still being analyzed.

SHERIFF FITZGERALD: I’m struggling with that because it’s not what we want yet. I mean they’re trying to do it better and fix it up but they can’t.

REPORTER: Have you listened to it?

SHERIFF FITZGERALD: I have listened to it.

REPORTER: Do you, I mean…

SHERIFF FITZGERALD: You don’t hear nothing that can help you. I mean it’s very confusing.

Ok I have to put my 5 cents in here ...

A little OT but when 2 year old James Bulger was murdered in the U.K. by two 10 year old boys, Venables and Thompson in 1993, the CCTV in the case was virtually not viewable and certainly you could not make out any pertinent conversation. However, it was eventually sent to NASA, yes NASA space agency in the USA and they were able to clean up both the visual and audio to enable them to be published and the boys responsible to be identified .

That was February 13th 1993.

We are now in November 2018, some 25 years later. And technological advancement since then has seen a meteoric rise in what can be achieved.

So let’s put this into perspective in relation to the inaudible content of the 911 call - and can we be expected to believe that it can’t be ‘cleaned up’ with a view to the audio being advanced and the Sheriff being able to determine exactly what was said on the 911??? Because in the absence of other evidence, I think the 911 call is of most importance. All MOO

Has anybody figured out why they are not they are not looking for the killer of the parents also?

What do you mean they are not looking? Do you think her parent's murderer and the person who took Jayme are not the same person?

Have police said they suspect the person who killed the parents is different then the person who abducted Jayme? Confused

Voices on a phone are easily muffled or made inaudible by contact with clothing, hair, or skin in the most normal of circumstances. I was going in that direction but to say it's "confusing"? The sheriff is either speaking from in complete exhaustion (expectedly) or meant something other then what I was thinking.
Yes, I was thinking maybe the phone was in someone's pocket, or even in a different room, as they could not hear any one actually speaking into it, only background noise. Jmo

No. But I was a little confused too. Jmo

LE has not ever mentioned that to my knowledge? I do understand that she is the one that is actively endangered although.

I didn't think they had to mention that. The parents were killed, the daughter is missing, and she's considered "endangered." Unless there were two separate crimes around the same time that night by coincidence...

Goodnight fellow sleuthers . Tomorrow is another day closer to finding Jayme.

Yes of course they would! However at the end of the last thread, these questions were being asked yet again . Along with questions about cell phone siting and pinging and triangulation which for ease of reference for those that missed my previous posts, I was going to post again. But maybe I need to rethink that because I’m clearly stating the obvious!

It seems I confused people with my post about Jayme's cell phone being turned off, because I was continuing something from a previous post, without quoting myself.
This video, from WQOW (an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Eau Claire, Wisconsin) shows an interview with Sheriff Fitzgerald, from the first day. If you look at the posted COMMENTS, <modsnip - screenshot and discussing comments>

I'm pretty sure they are doing everything within their power to find the suspect. I don't know why we would think otherwise.

The thing that bothers me is they never mention it. I am sure LE is doing everything they can, without a doubt.

No, LE has not insinuated that there are different people involved. They have treated this as different parts of the same crime.

In the Abby/Libby murder over in Delphi, Indiana Libby was able to capture video of the perp. The video was sent to NASA and Disney. The still image that's been released from that video was the very best they could do. It's okay, but it's still not great. There are still features and objects in the image that people can't agree on. Technology has advanced a lot since then, but it's still not perfect yet.

What you are saying makes sense. Unless she went running out on the road after witnessing what happened in her house and was scared so she ran to the road. I wonder if that is where the two/three possible vehicles of interest came into play?

KARE 11 on Twitter | 9:24 PM (CDT) - 1 Nov 2018

"That's the answer I struggle with every night as I go to sleep." @DannySpewak talked with Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald about where the Jayme Closs investigation is - and what's next. We'll have more on @kare11 news at 10. https://kare11.tv/2RrU7e7

(*video at link; rough transcription below)

SHERIFF FITZGERALD: I wish I could solve that. I wish I could give the community that answer. That’s the answer I struggle with every night as I go to sleep, is to figure out exactly if this was random or not.

Well, they r looking for two vehicles that have to driven by somebody (most likely) of driving age. But they are awfully silent. Have only asked if anybody knows of any disagreements.

True - good point.

Somebody several threads back mentioned what seemed like an abnormally high number of registered sex offenders in the area and others have mentioned quite a few drug related offenses. I hadn’t seen this though, just a good old local “police beat.” I’m getting the distinct impression that this area has a lot more problems than I initially thought.
