I wouldn't want the 911 call of my death released to anyone publicly. the family does not need to have to hear it. the killer does not need to know what may or may not have been caught on it. for now at least I agree with it not being released.

That's spot on. This was a military like operation to get inside, neutralize the parents, and abduct Jayme as quickly as possible and then to either get her to his hideout or out of the Barron area entirely. Planned and expertly executed from the looks of it.

I live 50 minutes away and feel the same way. I've lived up here since 1976 and can't recall a crime this bad ever happening. It's gotta be solved!

Probably new people have moved in so you don't know what their intentions might be or how vicious they are. This is a vicious crime!

I don't yet understand why some folks on here keep mentioning meth problems in the area. What would meth (which is a country wide epidemic), have anything to do with a double murder of an employed middle class couple? Are you suggesting they were some how involved with meth? I really find that a stretch from what we've been told about them. Can those of you who have the "meth" theories please explain? TIA

I don’t have a meth theory, but do recall the tragic Holly Bobo case where the guy who abducted her and his buddies were all strung out on meth. It was a disgusting crime, fueled by meth. She was in no way involved in meth. She was stalked and taken from her home. So so sad. My point, I guess, is the person who did this could certainly be driven by meth, without the family being engaged in drug use. Edited to add: all my opinion.

Do we know if Closs had guns? I've been wondering about that from the start. Did Closs own guns? That is important to know. Please tell us -- anyone.

Wisconsin's gun ownership rate is 34.7%. They rank 32/52. Odds favor Closs owned a gun, but has not been confirmed by LE.

I am not being cute here, but this site is called Websleuths, basically for amateur detectives.

Local people might be able to tell a lot from certain details like: what was taken?, if tied up, what with? why are you looking for those cars? Where were they? What time? What does the call sound like? I have a person I know who coughs in such a distinctive way that I could tell you it was her on an airport tarmac. There is a lot of stuff LE knows, and even more stuff they don't know they don't know. By keeping it secret they are assuming nobody knows anything they don't.

LE means well but the secretive nature almost never helps them find someone alive, which should be their goal right now; not prepping for the prosecution that might never happen.

Sadly, I can think of one. The "violent home invaders", on not finding anything extremely valuable, but having killed JC, look at Jayme, decide to take advantage of her. This can be true even without her being the intended target initially, especially since they are in a violent state of mind. Then when they have to flee, they know that they can't simply leave her with her parents, because of their DNA, so they take her.

That's possible. That's also why it's so important to learn if Closs had guns because guns ARE valuable to criminals of all types. They use them or sell them for meth, etc. If Closs had guns and the perp's didn't take them, then it's more certain that Jayme was the target.

OTOH, the guns could have been inside a big locked safe and once the 911 call went out, the perp's knew they had to flee. So they grabbed Jayme and ran. That's logical. We need more info on possible Closs guns. Were there any? Were they locked up?

It’s hard to understate the ongoing meth problem that Barron County has been dealing with for years. I wouldn’t be so fast to discount that this might have played a big role, especially since one does not need to be involved in any way to get caught up in a violent situation.

IMO, no family implication. I believe it's more environment and the reality of its impact on a community the size of Barron, WI.

In this case, I doubt LE has much to conceal. At least any that the public could be of help. If items were stolen, pawn shops would be alerted. Knowing how many shots were fired, hearing the 911 call or autopsy results are absolutely not for the public to know.

I do sometimes think LE holds back too much when a person is missing but really can't see what they might be hiding that would help find her. But keeping her in the public eye is up to them, and she has faded somewhat already jmo. Too much other news.

The meth is coming from Mexican drug cartels, which have taken over most of the meth production in Wisconsin.

“It is more potent, more addictive and destructive, and cheaper,” Schimel said. “Since most of the distribution is being directed from outside our state and country, it is also more difficult for law enforcement to infiltrate and shut down the dealer networks.”

I agree with everyone else about the Red/Orange Challenger being a stupid car to use in a double murder.

Orange/Red muscle car seems like it would stick out like a sore thumb but as we are seeing, it is not the case thus far. In the Delphi murders, they have a photo and voice recording of the alleged perp and still have not gotten anywhere

There are several situations where a notable vehicle was used in murder(s) or were a VOI. Here are a few quick ones I gathered and they weren't necessarily caught due to the flashy car but for other reasons:

--The Grim Sleeper drove a bright orange Ford Pinto ( said to look like a hot wheels) when he approached his only known surviving victim and asked her if she wanted a ride. ( familial DNA)

--Robert Lee Yates used a white 1977 Corvette for at least one of his murders (car of interest and was pulled over but field interview report was misread as saying "Camaro" not "Corvette" and was let go)

--Vehicle of interest in the Short case was a 1998-2002, white, single-cab, two-ton flatbed stake body truck with wooden rails. ( unsolved)

--Ted Bundy used his tan 1968 VW Beetle for repeated kidnappings which was odd since classic Beetles are so memorable and tend to draw the attention of onlookers. He was caught driving a stolen orange VW beetle.

Yes they are bringing fentanyl over too they even admitted it saying it was cheaper to add it to heroin than having pure heroin!

I did read on the internet that Cameron resident Melissa Salmonson had created homemade solar lanterns (great idea!) to raise funds for the Closs family, but does anyone know how pro-active Jayme's family and friends have been since she disappeared? I mean have they been putting posters up in the town and handing out flyers and such? I haven't seen any of this in MSM?
