what are the reasons Jim would go to the door? And yet, the door was kicked in. So, it would make sense whatever he saw on the other side he didn't want to let in and shut it rapidly. I wonder if he was just letting his dog out, unaware someone was laying in wait outside and then he saw them, shut the door as they kicked it in.
idk I just keep trying to make the scenario work that Jim answered the door and it was kicked it.
This just popped into my head. Remember the movie Crocodile Dundee #2? The "bad guy" approached their door, rang the door bell, listened, when he heard him come to the door the bad guy shot through the door.

I could see someone banging or ring the door bell (is there a door bell?) An argument ensues. James yells "go away or Ill call the police".... Then the door gets kicked in.

We see on WS kids that are missing a lot. Some seem like runaways and have been missing more than one time. There are easier choices out there.

But we see on WS as well, very strange crimes that we could have never even fathom.Remember the guy who buried a school bus with kids? So many twists on perversion

That was like the worst attempt at a hostage situation. It was traumatic for the kids. People don't always make sense.

as for the phone. if one was barely alive and their hand went limp it could touch the screen and end the call and then no one able to answer call backs.
Just thank goodness that 911 call was made.

The casino is called Turtle Lake?! Or is in Turtle Lake? All this time I thought it was an actual lake, or town named after a lake.
Official name is St. Croix Casino - Turtle Lake. It's called that because it's owned by the St. Croix band of Chippewa Indians. The actual address is in the village of Turtle Lake, WI. The village itself is really tiny and is across two counties - Barron and Polk which is next to it. The same tribe owns another one called St. Croix Casino - Danbury which is in Danbury, WI.

The actual Turtle Lake (as in the lake itself) is several miles down Highway 8 from the village. There's an upper Turtle Lake and a lower Turtle Lake which are connected by Turtle Creek which is a narrow body of water. This map shows it - look to the left of the lakes and you can see the village of Turtle Lake and casino location.

some type of check maybe? or could a check be a option is the way I read the post.
edit..well that is how I seen one post. I also see where the mind could jump to another idea in another
There are some posters that know how that is done but I'm not sure if they are here to answer. I forgot what they said about how they are paid. It wouldn't surprise me if they paid by cheque. Imo

IF jayme had her own phone that doubles the chance of a fast 911 call. she may have been asleep threw the start of it, but I doubt she slept threw the first shot. we don't know if she had her own phone and age considered I am not placing any blame on her at all.
There is a link a page or two back stating JC cell phone was with LE.

This would make me break any code of silence I had. I also would not be paying back anything, what is the point if you can't trust the outcome?

If there is third party involvement I would be surprised. IMHO I have not heard nor seen any evidence this is a kidnapping or an abduction. No one from the community is missing. However, I would like to know if all terminated employees hv been exclusively ruled out. Something was going on, and that could have been an affair, a firing, or trouble w a teen. Only LE know if DC or JC had already gone to bed. Only LE know if Mr. Closs had been at work. Saying she was home 'at the time of the shootings' and is 'endangered,' could merely be because of her age. We have heard nothing from LE regarding an actual timeline of events, and we have uncovered nothing to show who this family really was. The lack of SM or straight up truth from LE could be hindering this investigation. Her body has not been found, and I'd like to know if all underground structures have been searched.
Why is this town so deadly silent on the Closs family? They all work at the same plant, and the silence is what bothers me the most. Maybe someone recently built an underground structure for holding a victim. We have nothing to indicate that this minor was taken by force from the home. Did she purchase a bus or train ticket? Does she have her ID or passport w her? Are any of her shoes missing? Is her birth certificate missing? Where is her coat?

The lack of info is devastating, imho.
Excellent post

the chair could have been anywhere. almost any bullet will go threw more than one or more interior walls.

Just thank goodness that 911 call was made.

I agree, but to what difference is it making now? certainly the time the crime was discovered. maybe LE has more info from it. I hope.

I need to take a bit of a break. I'll check in now and then.

The police chief has said several times that there was absolutely no dialogue between the caller and the operator. To me that says that nobody said "help". Just background noise is all that was heard. Even the idea that there was screaming or conversation is just speculation. It could have been the sounds of somebody routing through drawers and cupboards looking for something. I believe it was described as "commotion".

One early local report from WEAU put the word help in quotes in reference to what the sheriff told the local station was heard in the background of the 911 call. It has been my opinion that the sheriff was misrepresented there. In my interpretation the point was that it was clear from the indecipherable noise (yelling/commotion) during the under-a-minute 911 call that someone needed help at this residence. The 911 log mentions yelling (a lot of yelling, iirc).

I think at this point the confirmed info about the 911 audio is that it is a far away and indecipherable commotion. Jmo.

I think her mom may have first gone into Jayme's room first as well. It was far from the front door and near the sliding glass door. Then she was shot after going to help her husband or at least trying to see what was going on. LE said the background noise sounded far away, so it may have been Jayme who made the call before she was found in her room. I also think it is likely she was killed within the next several hours. Of course I hope it is not the case, but it is looking more likely that she won't be found alive. Jmo

My feelings and imagination are close to yours. I think something brought James to the door... maybe a knock. Denise came along with him but stopped by Jayme's room to peek in and, if she was awake, may have told Jayme to "stay in your room." Then stood where she could watch James and see who it was outside. At this point not suspected 911 needs to be called but see first who's at the door. She's cautious because of the time, imo, but maybe more annoyed than frightened at this point. I think this way because the neighbors made a point to say the Closs's didn't answer their door the times she knocked on it to give them their mail and that was during day light hours. So, the Closs's, I think would have been on high alert to anyone, unplanned, knocking on their door as it was coming up to 1 am in the morning. James may have looked out the window in the door and thought, "no way" and told them to leave or he'd call 911 or, if someone was asking for help, he might have cracked the door... realized his mistake immediately upon seeing who was actually out there and slammed the door shut. Then the door was kicked in. James and then Denise were killed. Jayme may have called 911 and tried to get out the back door (may or may not have succeeded) or Denise could have called 911 and dropped the phone as she was running away from the killer.
(all imagined scenario on my part)

I think it's safe to say the phone didn't turn off. Dispatch called back and didn't get an answer. It rang and then went to voicemail. If the phone were off it would have gone straight to voicemail. If service were poor they probably wouldn't have disconnected their landline. That leaves someone hanging it up.

I can't find it now, but didn't someone just post a link last night saying from dispatch the call was labeled a "hang up?"

I assumed someone turned it off or it died. This is why when dispatch called back it went straight to voice mail.

  • #695
Ok, well then I guess I can go back to my original opinion that the killer disconnected the lines. The reasons given were so convincing that I gave up that theory almost a month ago.
That was from the 911 call log made public portion regarding the land line I believe?

Trying to bite my tongue with every casino comment, but at some point I have to say something...

I’ve worked in casino operations since 1994, I’m actually sitting in my office at a casino now as I type this. I’m on camera every minute of every day from the moment I pull off the highway until I leave property. The only areas that don’t have camera coverage are the bathrooms and the guests hotel rooms.

Everything I do and everything the casino does is highly regulated. The games are fair, cards and dice are inspected dozens of times per day, machines are precisely calibrated to regulated payback percentages. IDs are checked, taxes are withheld and reported, we work alongside both DCI and state gaming regulators who ensure that everything is legit. Everything. If I get a DUI tonight I’ll lose my license and my job tomorrow morning.

I can absolutely promise you the casino is not involved. Even in the very limited circumstances where it would be possible to owe the casino money (bad checks are the most common), the casino’s lawyers will handle it. Period.

Very good thought. Then LE would have found her that close to her cell phone. They refused to release that information, they are the only ones that know.

I'm glad you posted this as I was just in the process of posting something similar. LE has never outright confirmed the timing of the neighbors hearing gunshots.

Please humor me but what if...………

The neighbor did mistakenly look at the clock and it was more along the lines of 12:51 vs 12:31 as others here mentioned. Easy mistake to make especially for someone whose older (eyesight wise) and in bed. She also mentioned her dog altering to something around 1:00 am (the getaway?)

I set my stop watch time for approx. 7 minutes (start of call to officers arriving on scene). Wow that was an eye opener, it was a long time!! I actually went to my front door and imitated the actions, ie confrontation/altercation with JC, DC somewhere behind him dials 911 after first shots drops the phone in front living room area runs with Jayme to bathroom/back bedroom locking them in using the chair as a barricade. Perp breaks in and shoots DC (maybe that's why neighbors didn't hear another shot) grabs Jayme and blazes out of there.

The phone could have been far enough to only hear noise/commotion like "Jayme I love you I can't live without you, I'd rather die" etc. (possible reason suicide dispatch??) Perp sees it/hears 911 operator and disables it on way out. Plenty of time for this to happen.

JMO plus my DH thinks I am way too invested in this. He was my perp in this scenario ;)

Excellent reenactment. When I am exercising, five minutes is eternity, Having fun? It has flown by.

Tell your husband “ thanks”. He sounds like a keeper when he finally will understand priorities. Any other reenactments you can think of? How about a fake door kick with different scenarios?

When LE contacted security at the casino at 04.32 on 15 October, it has been assumed they wanted to look at their CCTV footage of the highway. Has this ever been confirmed anywhere at all? Does the casino overlook the highway do we know?

I hope I don't get in trouble for sharing this. (Mods go easy on me lol).

Where I live is on a reservation. I had been working closely with the Tribal Sheriff to help young people and families deal with (****). The heroin and meth is organized and pandemic. Those that run it are ruthless......

This is MOO but one never knows if there is a tie in somehow.
