Following the party, Suzi said she texted Denise around 8:30 p.m., as they normally did. But what happened just hours later ensured their lives would never be normal again.

Investigators no closer to finding missing teen Jayme Closs whose parents were found dead in Wisconsin home

I have posted a video about 5 times now of Paul Blume stating on the news last night that Denise's sister spoke to her on the phone at 10:00 PM.

Did Blume specify which sister spoke to Denise at 10 PM? She has 2 sisters. She might have communicated with one at 8:30 and the other one later.

In this video, Paul Blume says 10:00
Paul Blume is also saying something to the effect that the sheriff has clarified that James's guns are accounted for and that the killer brought their own weapon. Has there been any interviews or press conferences where the sheriff actually stated this?

Thanks, Josh. Didn't see myself getting thrown into an Acosta/White House argument today, As for #FindJaymeCloss update: Sheriff confirms investigators now examining surveillance video from a larger radius around crime scene including *outside* of Barron County. #FindJJayme

What leads going out of town in the opposite direction?

Which opposite?
Turtle Lake is to the west. Barron is to the east.
Further west/southwest (90 miles) leads to Minneapolis, MN.
Further east, looks like a lot of small towns similar to Barron.

I keep wondering also if the multiple rounds near the door were intentional or accidental. some people have a hard time stopping shooting once they pull the first time if is a semi auto handgun that is very powerful, the recoil causes some to hold on tighter and when the slide slams it can become a cycle that can be hard to break. could point to someone not use to shooting.

The entire electronics angle does suggest they are looking for James' phone
There is no reason for it not to be there unless the perp took it - which means it's crucial to whatever transpired...
JMO

Maybe they were looking for whatever they think the person they set the house trap for might come back to get. jmo

I don't think he specified and that very much could be what happened

Perhaps James or someone in the house had a video/picture of something and that was the motive for the attack. Concealed electronics might be something purposely hidden that the perp wasn't able to find.

Denise/bathroom
That part was removed from the KSTP story and if you watch the viideo it is not mentioned in the video while the rest of the information in the story is. The reporter only says that Denise was found elsewhere in the home. Which we knew from the 911 call log, which she also had been citing throughout her report, but she credited the "elsewhere in the home" to SN (Denise's brother).

Yes. And the Dairy farm? Where is that located and why did they want to park there? LE that is.
It is the next property East of the Closs home on the north side of the road. Law enforcement per the 911 log arranged a search of the property using two volunteer fire departments and probably a deputy or three.

Hmm. They would have talked about it though? Something like "so and so just won't let it go! I saw them today giving me the evil eye still!" might be said. I just can't make it work that someone would be so mad from years ago and not have had any contact for years and then out of nowhere decides it's time for revenge. I would think there would be signs and at least periodic threatening or, at the least, some sort of unpleasant fairly recent contact. Plus people would know, which is what I was thinking. Maybe there is such a person but they seem so harmless no one takes them seriously. No idea, I just think someone would have an inkling if there was this type of situation brewing. IMO
I respectfully disagree. I’ve learned countless people lead secret lives after practicing civil law for many years. People are extremely secretive when it comes to money and/or disputes arising from occurrences they don’t want others to know about. Mind you, I represented “reputable” professionals and families whose lives appeared beyond reproach on the outside. Nothing would surprise me.

Some interesting new details (BBM):

The phone from which the call was made lay on the floor inside
the modest, taupe-colored home.

"The phone isn’t near anyone so I don’t know if it got kicked," Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald of Barron County told Fox News on Tuesday. "It was closer to Denise than to James."

"No one talked on that call and we don't know who made it. We heard voices but we can’t make out what was said," he said, adding that it sounded as though the call was made in a room separate from the commotion.

"We do believe Jayme was home at the time the call was made," Fitzgerald noted.

Not sure if this article has been posted yet. Am I reading that right when it says they have all three phones?

The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation used a specially-trained dog to sniff out electronic devices at the Closs home, but none of the devices that were found have yielded any clues, including the three cellphones that belonged to Jayme and her parents, Fitzgerald said.

A teen could always have another phone or device unknown to parents, if given to him or her, or bought second-hand, i.e a Tracfone like I have. They are easy to hide.
to me the this is the best simplest explanation for the electronics sniffing dog. This does not mean she had the device just that they had to check.

I guess because the cameras would catch people coming and going on the road, maybe. Not necessarily that they had been at the casino.
Thank you for shedding some light on this issue. The fact that the casino was on law enforcement’s radar does NOT equate with James having a gambling problem, gambling the night of his death, etc, etc, etc. With all due respect I do not understand why people continue to beat this dead horse.

Turtle Lake casino does not have this. You can just walk in. While their surveillance isn't at the level of say MGM Grand in Vegas with stuff like biometric facial recognition, there are high resolution 360 cameras at every entrance and outside in the parking lot. It's pretty easy for a casino camera to capture the license plate of virtually any vehicle that comes into the parking lot.

As far as individuals that enter, they are always captured by the "eye in the sky". That is the black bubble looking things you can see if you look up at any gaming establishment in the US. Gaming law varies by state but typically requires every square inch of the gaming floor and entrance/exit ways to be easily accessible and recordable by surveillance footage and most states require casinos to maintain footage digitally for 6-12 months however many casinos keep it longer such as up to two years in case they are sued or need to sue in a monetary dispute. Cameras are not permitted in restrooms however they are immediately outside the restroom so the casino can track if someone goes in, do they come out. While less regulated, most US casinos have 360 cameras set up to cover their parking lot as well.

The "eye" is really a 360 panoramic camera that has multiple zoom features. Depending on the strength of the camera you can zoom down to the ground level and tell what kind of shoes a person is wearing if it's a live shot. If they are captured walking across the floor by watching back footage, options are more limited but you can still tell general physical features. Most cameras, even casino ones, can't take a piece of footage recorded previously of someone walking across the floor and zoom in to the level of detail where you can clearly see their face and all it's features. If you were watching that person live and they were standing still then you could.

Surveillance at a small tribal casino like Turtle Lake however isn't what you'd expect in Vegas. The Hollywood picture of dozens of trained guards and experts sitting in a NASA Mission Control like room zooming in and out of camera live shots is very misleading. Casinos spend millions on technology however much less on those watching.

It's very reactionary work - you wait for a call from a pit to either queue up footage from a recent happening or the pit suspects someone is doing something shady and wants more human eyes on them. For example, the pit will call up and say that "pit 5, table 3 BJ first base may be capping". This means that in pit five at the third table in the row, blackjack game, the player to the immediate left of the dealer and first to act each hand may be discreetly placing extra chips on winning bets to be paid more. I'll spare you the logistics of how this is accomplished but if you have a novice dealer, it's actually very easy to do. The surveillance folks would then zoom in on that table and player and watch them specifically for a period of time.

Getting a casino surveillance job at a place like Turtle Lake is relatively easy and you don't need much training to do so. Often on the "graveyard" shift (usually 2 AM-10 AM) you have 1-2 people viewing live footage. I've been told the late shift people are really there to just wait for a call from one of the pits or slot manager if there's something they need to focus on.

Otherwise, it's really sit there and stare at the screen and is an incredibly boring job as most surveillance people are those who have limited experience in the gaming or security industry as those positions are not well paid. Anyone who is a true expert can make a ton more money doing private consulting or going to work for a third party outsourcing firm.

Source: My own knowledge of casino surveillance from friends who work in the industry and I also work for the security provider for a major fitness brand in the US.
Sounds to me like you maybe have some casino experience yourself... bet you could tell me what a $25 horn bet pays on the high side. :)

Also, not sure if the bullet holes in the door part is true (BBM):

"With no suspects, no sighting of the child and scarce physical evidence one month after the Oct. 15 murders, police in the small town of Barron are scrutinizing the few clues they have, starting with the mysterious 911 call and a front door riddled with bullet holes.

Fitzgerald would not say whether the killer shot through the door but local news footage shows investigators carrying it away from the scene -- covered with what looks like bullet holes. Fitzgerald confirmed to Fox News that the door was undergoing forensic analysis. He also would not elaborate on the type of gun used in the crimes, citing the sensitivity of the investigation. James Closs kept hunting rifles inside the home but all have been accounted for."

Has anyone found this footage of the "bullet riddled" door being taken away? I think they might be referring to the glass storm door with pumpkin window clings?
