That’s exactly what I think it was, “dumb luck.”

They could not possibly have known that the police would definitely come from one direction.

Cars could be responding from numerous different locations.
I don't think they even thought LE would be involved. With no 911 call they probably figured they had several hours.

Ironically, they probably would have had several hours, if not for that 911 call.

I’m not sure though. Rural or not, going in as loud as they did, there would be no guarantee that a neighbor wouldn’t have called 911.

.
No footage of the other door taken into evidence, but it appears to be removed in this still-pic of the news video. Maybe this is not the door, IDK.View attachment 155625
Yes, we see an edge of a door there. But we have seen zero footage in any media video of any door except the glass door being carried away. Not one glimpse of the wooden door being carried out. If someone could find such footage, that would be great.

Thus, this sentence in the article

Fitzgerald would not say whether the killer shot through the door but local news footage shows investigators carrying it away from the scene -- covered with what looks like bullet holes.

Seems to be based on the writer of the story's interpretation of what they thought they saw in media footage.

It also explains the focus of all searches being west of the Closs home.

Yep. Confirms what many of us speculated early on. Although it doesn't tell us much, it is nice to have confirmation. This tells us that possibly the suspect was familiar with the area or at least knew which direction the police would come from OR maybe they saw/heard the police cars approaching and went the opposite direction, getting lucky that they didn't pass any. When Fitzgerald did the DrydenWire interview he said something about his gut telling him that the timing of the crime makes him think it was targeted/planned. I wondered what he knew. I speculated that possibly part of it could be the location of Barron County Sheriff patrol cars at that time of night. Perhaps he thinks the perp somehow was aware there were no patrol cars to the west of the Closs House at that hour-- maybe a routine shift change or maybe the perp had a scanner radio. JMO.

I don't see "riddled with bullet holes" anywhere in the story. I see this ...

I have no idea what the person who wrote the story is talking about since we have only seen footage of a glass door being taken and there were no bullet holes in it at all. There is no footage of any other door that I have seen.
. I saw “riddled with bullet holes in this story... sorry if someone else posted this, I’m not quite caught up yet.

I agree that without being able to see the evidence for ourselves the Fox News Story about a "bullet riddled door" seems dubious and sensationalized. However, we did have a previous story where the a family source said the door had been "shot in". The local reporters that interviewed the family members this week seem to be releasing bits of interview in drips and drabs each day to stretch it out. I'm going to withhold judgement about the door until I see if any of the family mentions it again in their interview. JMO.
(And if anyone feels compelled it might be a good idea to Tweet Paul Blume and the other reporter to ask them if the family mentioned bullet holes in the door. ;) )

It is one line above that:

"With no suspects, no sighting of the child and scarce physical evidence one month after the Oct. 15 murders, police in the small town of Barron are scrutinizing the few clues they have, starting with the mysterious 911 call and a front door riddled with bullet holes."

I really wish Fox News would choose another Jayme photo.

Very true. The neighbours did hear 2 gunshots but chose not to call 911, so yes they were extremely lucky in this case.

No worries, the more people who post it the better IMO. It is easy to miss things as these threads move fast. :)

This is interesting I don't know it we ever saw "bullet holes" in the door i wonder if they had a local guy on scene that got a better look at it or some footage that hasn't been publicly shown or if they are taking license with what we saw.
They know everyone was accounted for at ten. Hmm. Did James or Denise leave the home after? Maybe a trip to a local store for some item or other needed the next morning? Milk run maybe? Someone maybe had a “misunderstanding” over something silly like a parking space (speculation only!! Thinking out loud as it were). Could it really be that benign?

Where did you get this!? I hadn’t seen it before and wondered if there was an MSM link?
That doesn't look anything like the door we saw in the beginning. I thought it was brown.

@photographer4 made a mess of quotingtoy post. But I also consider those possible scenarios. Speculation IMO HERE whereby Denise upset someone during her religion classes, not that she did anything wrong. IMO, Those are 3 hot button topics. I mean someone misinterpreted something and went crazy or their child repeated a viewpoint and thy went wacky doodle. It happens. My own dad had a temper tantrum abt something a youth pastor taught, was fire and brimstone and youths are going to hell. Never set foot there again. How misinterpretation evolves to murder well, ya gotta be a little crazy. Sexual or domestic abuse can really get entire groups upset & riled. IMO, A whisper to a religion teacher or her daughter could kick it off & a Priest really isn't supposed to divulge that is he? Or could/would he? All speculation and just throwing out possible ideas.

well knowing James was home at 10 blows my initial theory out of the water.
I had wondered if he was followed home from work and ambushed as he walked in the door .
Now I am thinking he was either answering the door or heard something outside and went to the door.
WHERE ARE YOU JAYME!? </3

I think they most likely went to sleep. I don't know about Barron but on a Sunday night in most small towns I'm familiar with there is not a lot open after 10 PM. Also, in Jim's sibling interview they said there were plenty of times when Jayme was alone in the mornings-- like waiting for the bus. To me that indicates Jim and Denise both worked first shift sometimes, leaving Jayme alone in the morning. IIRC the Jennie-O advertisements posted in previous threads showed 1st shift as 7 AM - 4 PM. This make sense to me that Jim probably worked those hours and then went home to watch football. Denise and Jayme left the Sunday party at 4 PM and probably went home to have dinner with James. And if they had to work at 7 AM they probably didn't stay up until after midnight-- they are not 20-somethings. JMO.

ETA: Hey, do we know what time the football game ended Sunday night? I bet they watched it. JMO.

Someone posted a random image without a source. This is why WS requires links. I don't know why they posted that, but that is not their door. Please report the post as it is confusing people.
I think I accidentally <modsnip - link not allowed> did it, but it’s been corrected. The last image looks like the door was kicked in while looking at the door frame,IMO
