The husband of one of Closs' cousins says he wants to spread the word that Closs disappearing is a serious issue. He says if anyone has any information on her location, they should report it to police.

She said she doesn’t understand why anyone would harm them. “I don’t think that there was anybody that would of been against them because they were such nice people, and I don’t think anybody would want to hurt them,” A said. A also said whoever has her should give her back because there’s a lot of people who really love her and don’t want to see anything bad happen to her.

James and Denise Closs were longtime employees at the Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron, which has a hatchery and processing plant. RN, Denise Closs’ father, told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Jayme “was quiet as always” at a birthday party for another family member. Denise Closs, he said, was “a thoughtful person [who brought] a little gift for everybody” at the party.

At the Barron Area Community Center, where Jim Closs’ name is listed on a board recognizing those who have exercised for 1,000 hours, local resident MS said everybody was “on edge, waiting to find out what’s going on here.” MS said he knew Jim Closs from high school athletics when Closs went to school in Ladysmith, Wis. The family was known for being active in their community, he said.

At Christine’s Dance Company, CF said the mood had been “somber” with the realization that part of their family was missing. “That ache doesn’t go away,” she said.

Jayme, a quiet, sweet girl who blossomed under encouragement, has taken dance classes since at least 2010, CF said. She was scheduled to come in for a 5:40 p.m. class Wednesday with two other girls. Instead, CF expected she would let Jayme’s classmates and parents talk about their missing friend.

The neighbours could very well be wrong about what they heard and when they heard it. If the Sheriff has trouble with the timeline of 20 minutes, which is really a long time in this type of situation, then that is what I'm going by. The neighbours don't seem like they would deliberately give their 'ear witness' account the way that they did, but they could be wrong about it. The fact that they went to tabloid media and possibly got paid for their several times told memory of events, only weakens their version. I don't think it really helps with finding the murderer anyways at this point. If they had actually seen something, that would be a different matter!

NOT that it was a knowable fact that he only came in 5 feet and was there for 4 minutes.

IMO, the fact is that there was no evidence of an intruder. And that means they can't know if he came in 5 feet, 10 feet, or went all over but just didn't leave a trace.

He said 5 ft... and he has evidence..u could be correct... I think what Fitzgerald is likely saying is right inside doorway..2 people suffered horrific gunshot wounds that killed them instantly. There’s blood / tissue likely close inside door spread backwards from 1 or 2 people... there’s no footprints through that could be how he arrives at 5 ft... dunno.. but think it was a mess... and perp didn’t step near it.. sadly

Wow...that's unusual for them to stop at each drive on a Highway. Also would be annoying to travelers I would think. When I said alone, I would believe an adult would be close by. But, I shouldn't make assumptions because I don't know if she did or didn't. Don't know anything definite about any of them.

I grew up in a rural area. Only the townies shared bus stops. All highway bus pick ups were individual because you could not send kids walking down a highway to share a bus stop. It’s not at all safe.

Yes, I agree. This had been discussed before, and I'm in the camp which does not want to hear the 911 call, especially since it does not 'say' much; plus if I was a family member I would not want the tape released for public perusal.

One of Jayme Closs' family members (video says “Great Uncle”) lives in Manitowoc. They want people to keep talking about Jayme. They’re keeping their hopes up that she will be found alive and safe.

The husband of one of Closs' cousins says he wants to spread the word that Closs disappearing is a serious issue. He says if anyone has any information on her location, they should report it to police.

The husband also says the positive messages on social media are encouraging. They are helping the family remain hopeful during a tough time as the search continues.

Some of Closs’ family was at a press conference on Tuesday. Jayme’s aunt said, “Jayme is the sweetest little girl, she wouldn’t hurt a soul.” (“Tuesday” refers to Oct 16 press conference)

Superintendent of the Barron School District DT echoed that sentiment saying Jayme is a loyal friend who loves to dance. Jayme is also a runner on the Riverview Middle School cross country team.

Jayme’s friend A said she knows the entire Closs family well. Her parents worked with Jayme’s parents. She said she doesn’t understand why anyone would harm them. “I don’t think that there was anybody that would of been against them because they were such nice people, and I don’t think anybody would want to hurt them,” A said. A also said whoever has her should give her back because there’s a lot of people who really love her and don’t want to see anything bad happen to her.

Jayme’s grandfather, 72-year-old RN, said nothing seemed amiss at the family gathering that Jayme and her mother attended Sunday afternoon. He said Jayme’s father was at work at the time. James and Denise Closs were longtime employees at the Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron, which has a hatchery and processing plant. RN, Denise Closs’ father, told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Jayme “was quiet as always” at a birthday party for another family member. Denise Closs, he said, was “a thoughtful person [who brought] a little gift for everybody” at the party.

At the Barron Area Community Center, where Jim Closs’ name is listed on a board recognizing those who have exercised for 1,000 hours, local resident MS said everybody was “on edge, waiting to find out what’s going on here.” MS said he knew Jim Closs from high school athletics when Closs went to school in Ladysmith, Wis. The family was known for being active in their community, he said.

At Christine’s Dance Company, CF said the mood had been “somber” with the realization that part of their family was missing. “That ache doesn’t go away,” she said.

Jayme, a quiet, sweet girl who blossomed under encouragement, has taken dance classes since at least 2010, CF said. She was scheduled to come in for a 5:40 p.m. class Wednesday with two other girls. Instead, CF expected she would let Jayme’s classmates and parents talk about their missing friend.

On Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, JS said the family has “no immediate financial needs. I set up the account at Sterling Bank, because a lot of people have offered money, and I just wanted to have a place to put it.”

RN “Grandpa Red”, Denise’s father and Jayme’s grandfather, who also lives in Cornell, said Denise would call him two or three times a day. “She always had something else to tell me,” he said. “I could hear Jayme laughing in the background with her dad.” The loss of his daughter and the disappearance of his granddaughter, he said, have shattered his world.

He said he hasn’t been able to put his daughter to rest in his mind because the casket was closed at her funeral, robbing him of the opportunity to see her one last time.

You have a nightmare of a case to manage, and I have no idea what that all entails, but it must take a terrible toll on you day in and day out.
It is amazing to me that you are able to keep level-headed and even-keeled in your interviews. I do not know how you do it.
Forgive me if this seems like a criticism: how do you keep your cool and not freak out about this missing 13-year-old girl, who disappeared under horrific circumstances under your jurisdiction? I would not judge you harshly if you publically demonstrated emotions of extreme urgency, desperation and agony in this situation. In fact, I would thank you for mirroring my own feelings about Jayme. I know that you have a job to do, and the expectation is polished professional behavior from the guy at the top. But geez loueez, I for one would not fault you for breaking down in an interview and showing us you are super concerned and in anguish about this young girl. You have kids of your own so I know you must surely relate to the hell this family is in. I think it’s ok for you to show us a peek of the emotions you must be feeling, but that is just me, Coco Joe Schmo. I am just one person who gives you my permission to show us how hard this is for you, and how much you want Jayme to come home safely.

Just checking in tonight hoping for something, anything.....Thanks to Pommy Mommy for the great recap of the list of family and friends who spoke out on behalf of the Closs family. Everyone was so positive in their remarks and memories of the family. This crime just does not make any sense. I read the Daily Mail article today and Sheriff Fitzgerald admitted that "they may have interviewed Jayme's captor and parent's killer." I did not realize that Hormel Foods is connected with the Jennie O-Turkey store. We still don't know the caliber of gun or how many bullet casings were found at the scene. We also don't know the time line of James that day. We are told that he had to work, but did he work the full shift? Who was the last person to see James that day? LE has not released that information.

The number has been posted several times. What that number represents and how it was calculated has not been verified. 6400 cars driving by the Closs home every day is a misinterpretation of the data.
