I have changed my thinking a little on this case. IMO I think Jayme was taken that night, and her parents killed in the process, from someone in their past. Maybe even from someone they knew not recently. I hope the police will investigate and look into people and incidents from long ago or as far back as they can.

The reason I say this is because there was a murder in my former city, which stemmed from a 50! year grudge (a prank that happened in college) I am enclosing the link just for proof and in case anyone is interested, but I guess it just got me thinking that possibly someone had a grudge against one of the Closs' and snapped for whatever reason on that night. It might not have necessarily been something recent that caused the murders.

A 1950s locker room prank sparked 2012 South Dakota shooting - NY Daily News

Both Denise and James had prior marriages. It could be possible that hurt feelings or a grudge from a former in-law had simmered and festered over the years, IMO.

I would imagine that LE has thoroughly investigated former spouses and relatives.

My own opinion.

It may be that if someone knows insider information about a potential psycho killer, may very well consider keeping silent.

The problem is that someone could "think" someone at work could have done something like this, but someone who is this efficient at killing, and there isn't much to suggest the actual killer, I would find another job, and get far away from someone like that. And especially if I had young daughters at home.

We would like to think that everyone would talk to the police to find the killer. But maybe someone doesn't want to get involved, especially if he or she had some immigration issues. This also brings up a potential avenue for investigation...maybe one of the Closses was going to involve authorities regarding some hiring "irregularities", or delivery issues. And the Cartel or MS-13 decided to send a very clear message to folks in this area, about loyalty.

I don’t think there are MS 13 there.

Or perhaps took in a person that needed a place to stay ? Denise’s relatives said she was always trying to help others.
Can anyone confirm if anyone may have been staying there prior to the crime? Maybe someone having a family or drug problem who Denise felt sorry for and was trying to help ?

One of my first thoughts about this case was that perhaps Denise and James had let a friend or associate who had fallen on hard times stay with them for a few days or months. It wouldn’t have had to be recent either, it could be that someone stayed with them briefly a year or more ago.

The possibilities with this sort of scenario could include letting someone who was evicted or broke up with spouse or live-in bf or gf stay temporarily. Then while that person was staying at the Closs home someone visited that person, maybe even while the family wasn’t home. Thoughts that come to my mind include to buy or sell drugs, or an abusive spouse or bf.

A crime that occurred in the city where I live happened after someone came to a home to buy drugs from a house guest. The family had no idea the woman who was invited to stay in their home after leaving her bf was selling drugs. The person who came to the home to buy drugs from the guest observed expensive things in the home and a plan was formed between the houseguest and the drug buyer to rob the home.

Just thinking outside, my thoughts and opinions are spinning while thinking of possibilities.

My thoughts only. My opinions only.

You would be surprised. MS 13 is infiltrating rural communities faster than inner cities.

I mention this, because this home invasion is very similar to what happens in Hounduras and Guatemala routinely. Fast, violent, and takes young women.

One time the girlfriend of a contractor my husband and I had used showed up our door begging us to shelter her, saying her boyfriend was battering her. We took her in and tried to talk her into reporting it or going to a shelter. They were messed up in drugs and she was afraid if she reported him it would get even worse for her. Then her boyfriend called my husband and asked whether we'd seen her? She looked terrified, so my husband said no. A while later the guy showed up at our door and seriously threatened my husband for lying to him. He managed to talk his way out of it but it was a really dangerous situation.

We had a female burgle our home, during the day, with her two year old in tow. She had tried another home but the people were home.

She had been to a children’s Halloween party at our house where several relatives invite their friends to attend. We did not know this woman. She died a couple of years later from drugs. She was in her 20’s and not one thing was written in her obit.

So random people can be at a home. But it sounds like the Closs family was not social

In reference to the two CFS#s,

Calls for service generally refers to assignments that are typically distributed to public safety professionals that require their presence to resolve, correct or assist a particular situation. ... Generally, calls for service relate to the fields of thepolice, fire department and emergency medical services.

The first number is given at 00:53:26.
The 2nd number is given at 01:07:23

Between those times, assistance from Barron PD was requested , EMS was paged, and ERT was paged, so it could be a separate number for any/all of those.

Well, to sum up, there is a sicko out there, and he has Jayme... again, a reference to a he, but it could very well be a they.

He may well be known to the family, and have a reason to know any one of the immediate family members, or extended ones.

He may have had only seen any of the family members on an excursion out where he was coincidentally at the same place at the same time, and some kind of trigger occurred.

I just can’t see some transient passing by (like I lean toward with the unsolved Delphi crime) spending the amount of ammunition and time to carry out the murders and abduction in this case. It’s possible, but doesn’t make sense.

YES! Through some very intensive sleuthing, it has been determined that there is a trailer hitch on James' truck. The puzzling part is that they didn't appear to own a trailer! This changes everything...

What type of trailer could his vehicle tow? We have a 5th wheel, and I know there is a capacity level for tow vehicles.

I do wonder about the details.

I think about crimes where the killer just responded to an ad, and either got PO’ed or saw an opportunity. IMO, and lots of hugs and support for Jayme’s surviving family as they head into the new year.

No. They are in my area and know how not to stand out if they want to blend in. They are more places than most would like to think.

Just some random thoughts at the moment. Several here have said that they see a scenario in which a female and male are involved. A recent crime committed in my neck of the woods has me giving more thought to this. Let me set the scene for you: Rural highway on the outskirts of a small town. A middle aged woman is at home alone (not sure of the time of day at this point) but she is brutally assaulted, raped and left for dead. She was unresponsive for several days, then upon regaining consciousness, was too traumatized to be interviewed by LE for a few more days. Finally a sketch is released by LE: subjects wanted for questioning are male and female. This is not usual in this area at all. It is a very low crime area, although like many small rural towns, they are struggling with some drug crime, particularly meth. The persons of interest have not yet been caught. LE has not released details as far as how they gained entry to the home or what time of day the assault occurred. This happened 5 minutes from my childhood home where the worst crimes I remember were things like drunk driving.

A trailer that could carry a four wheeler, or a motorcycle just about anything. A truck without a trailer hitch around me is kinda naked. Just standard equipment in the country. We don't know what he had stored in the garage.

Well, let’s see... a Silverado 1500 w/ class 3 hitch? It *could* pull a boat or a few sleds, but I can’t rule out a small turkey transport trailer. Perhaps he was embezzling birds for sale to the Canadian poultry cartels. But hey, that’s just my opinion. :D

Well, let’s hope Fitzgerald throws us a bone... something... anything... soon, because we’ve pretty much already beat our poor dead horse to smithereens!
Well I have said since day 1 I expect the case to be resolved within 6 months and I still am standing by that. I realize he stated no DNA left at the site. DNA is great and if found certainly helps the investigation. But we need to remember that for centuries cases didn't have DNA and cases got resolved. I'm still under the suspicion that the perp(s) will have interfaced with the family in the past one way or another and have had crossed paths in the past. So I think looking into the family and the people they knew, worked with, had problems with, whatever, I think the perp will somehow be loosely connected to the family in one way or another. We don't know what the sheriff's office isn't telling us as they are just feeding us the crumbs. But with the huge LE presence initially I can't help but to believe it will be solved. MOO
