She didn't just talk to the press when they were outside her home. She invited them in and posed for pictures and interviews. She called in to publicly talk to the sheriff even though he already had the information. I watched the interview on the DM site and in that she said they were in bed and she had to shake her husband and ask if that was a gun shot but at another point she says they weren't in bed because they had just gotten home. They also talk about the helicopters going over and he says "its uncomfortable" then tries to fix that statement by adding oh no really uncomfortable but blah blah. It seems like one will say something then the other will try to correct it or make it sound better.
I did not see it, but interviews leave out a lot. They film for a long time and then splice stuff together.
I have been interviewed by the media in the past, and that is what happened every time.
