This thought is way out there....but is there a chance (albeit very slim) that the Closs family was the target in order to hurt not the Closs family, but extended family member(s)? Perhaps parents/grandparents of Jayme and her parents?

Like I said, slim chance I'm sure, I'm just thinking if it's very personal, the family unit is shattered. The parents aren't alive to worry/grieve their abducted daughter. So if the Closs parents are dead and the daughter is missing, who is likely shattered/suffering the most whom is still alive? Parents/Grandparents of the Closs family? Siblings? Anyone have a grudgeormisunderstanding with THOSE family members?

It's a very HUGE stretch, I know.

as the barron pd asked, let's look into the closs's past.

he was an "older" father (mine is the same so no prejudice)...any chance she had an older half brother? a disgruntled half sibling or relative? were her parents' on their first marriage? simple questions. i can't find anything. but an out-of-towner-with-a-grudge seems much more likely than a local.

a local would be missing. or acting strangely. as far as we know, no 'locals' are missing.

My dogs bark when they are crated. Not so much when they are going about their normal day and night with us. I don't think we can infer that the dog's actions or inactions led him or her to be spared, but that it is a part of the criminal's thinking/ behavior/ internalization.
Exactly. That's what I was trying to get at. The dog was spared by an obviously anger filled homicidal person. If it posed any annoyance to the perp, I'd think he'd kill it........Unless Jayme loved that dog, he knew that, and didn't harm it for that reason.

Moderators, I love you.

Your work is appreciated.

Really enjoyed reading your thoughts. I'd love to know if the dog was crated or not. If it was not, I'd think it would be barking and possibly trying to bite the intruder. The intruder could easily eliminate it but chose not to (for some reason-Jayme loves the dog?). If the dog was crated, it poses no threat or annoyance so, in my opinion, doesn't hold as much evidenciary value as far as the intruder's intentions. Sheesh...don't even know if that makes senseo_O
Now that I know it was a little yorkie, I'm betting it could have been in bedroom with Jayme at night

Not necessarily. The call and her abduction may have coincided.

You’re right, it seems that with every new detail, we are only left with more questions.
Even though the phone is listed as her mother's phone, it could be Jayme's phone and was listed in the mom's name for billing purpose. (I'm not the first one to suggest this. Was suggested way earlier in a previous thread.)

When dispatch called the cell phone back the call went to voicemail and the voicemail greeting stated it was DC’s phone.

Just a random thought- what if JC's mom or dad had been gambling at the casino and won some decent amount of cash and somehow mentioned it to a work associate, family member, neighbor or someone and the perp came for that cash- idk this is not thought through here - because why would they take Jayme with them? Ohh there is just no motive that makes sense. Prayers for Jayme.

There is one that fits, but homicide never makes sense. To mention it would be speculation so I will reserve my opinion until more details are made public.

Pray for this little girl. I think it's one of two things, her father in management fired someone or caused someone to be fired or she innocently corresponded with a predator online.

i agree it make no sense. Does the fact that the moms phone was used for the call mean maybe the perp and jayme where gone before the call? idk nothing is making sense right now.
No. Police have indicated they believe jayme was in the home when call was placed due to some evidence in the call and at the scene.

I'm sorry, but respectfully, I do not agree with the " wanting to save her" line of reasoning.

EVERY known element of this home invasion and double murder is full of rage and brutality as we know the case facts at this time.

I can tell you that someone who sees themselves as " a savior" does NOT go in with a shotgun and kill 2 adults and basically shatter a young teen's entire world.
BTW, the most harmful ages in the stages of human emotional growth and development for life changes such as deaths, long distance separations from friends and family are ages 11-14. Females are much more likely to suffer long term attachment problems than males are, especially a shy little girl like they say Jayme is.

This is a crime of great rage and also probably someone who is very thought disordered with regard to assaulting the young girl.
I’m not saying that’s the only possibility, just one. The bottom line is that it has something to do with Jayme being the main focus. Now to figure out which scenario it could be.

Random things that stood out to me today...

“FBI, has been careful to avoid suggesting Jayme was kidnapped.”

“But the sheriff said he has a "100% expectation that she's alive."

And saw that mom was found in the bathroom in attempt to barricade herself and that she could not have made the phone call.

Also they are going to release the 911 transcript tonight ?

Sorry no links
Sorry if repeat info...

I too have pondered 'Mom in the bathroom'. Seems most moms will fight to the end to save their child. I think this one did too.

Yes, could it have really been just a 4 minute getaway, that is mind boggling!

Now I wonder if there were more than one that came in that night? We have always talked about a lone intruder but what if there two or three?

Is that bit about the bathroom from a credible source though? If I recall, earlier in this thread mods snipped that discussion for that very reason.

I too wonder about that. I wonder if Mom was wounded and her last breath to save her child by calling 911 because she was so incapacitated from a gun shot wound she could not help Jayme?

This has to have been a horrific scene if first responders are getting trama help per post upthread.

How old was he?

Maybe dad kicked door in after hearing the first gunshot and didn't have time to unlock the door???
Fails to explain “multiple rounds” as per police transcript.

Was her father in management? I don't think that's been confirmed, has it?

How old was he?
The Barron County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call made from a residence on Highway 8 east of Barron shortly before 1 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found two adults shot to death inside the home, according to Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald. The parents have been identified as 56-year-old James Closs and 46-year-old Denise Closs.

I think our energy needs to be focused on the question, what does Jayme have to do with it? In my opinion, she was clearly the target. The only scenario I can think of is,
Someone felt she was in some kind of harm and needed to “save” her.

If it was some kind of revenge and she was being abducted to hurt the parents, they would have kept them alive to make them suffer the idea of her being missing.

What else can we come up with along these lines?

I firmly believe she was the specific target the suspect came there to abduct.

I believe her parents were murdered in cold blood because he knew without a shadow of any doubt they would stop him as long as they had breath.

The only way they would not try to protect her is if they were dead. He made sure they were.

They were no longer able to protect their baby daughter. They were no longer able to summon the police and verbally tell them who had taken their daughter from them.

He wanted her loving protective parents voiceless and he made sure they would be forever.

This is one of the saddest case I've kept up with lately. My heart breaks for Jayme and how this monster ripped Jaymes parents away from her forever. Then he took her away to do unspeakable things to an already traumatized innocent child. Imo

Why do we assume the perp(s) fired the gun heard by neighbors? Maybe mom tried to shoot someone and someone shot back with their own gun? Maybe a gun was removed from the home? So many assume the two shots heard by neighbor were the two deadly blows to parents but I’m doubting that is the case. Hey maybe Jayme took some shots at someone and that necessitated a fast exit with her?
