How in the world did they know about it already at 2:00AM! Wild.

FYI- 2 AM is bar time in WI. Lots of people coming home at that time. Also 2 AM is the end of second shift for the factories as well. Could have been just people coming home and seeing the lights.

I'm hoping they now know the exact type of gun used, ran serial numbers in the area, etc... and find this weapon used to begin the domino process of piecing this case together, along with the BCA expediting any prints and lab work on hair, blood, tire make for model of vehicle, so much more

It's possible that the weapon used came from the Closs household.

If the police have shell casings/empty shells, a search of the home might turn up a box of shells/rounds with at least the requisite number of shells missing. Not finding any boxes of ammo wouldn't eliminate the possibility the perp took the unspent rounds along with the weapon; but finding unspent shells which match the fired shells found at the scene would suggest the perp did not arrive with their own weapon. Rather, possibly events transpired and the shooter took control of the Closs weapon and turned it on them; before departing with Jayme and the Closs' gun.

*modsnip* quoted post removed

Do you think it might also be possible that James may have won some cash money at the casino, and perhaps may have been followed home by some drug crazed robbers?

I can see this as a possibility if Dad arrived at the door with his gun and maybe a shot/the shots heard were during the struggle for the gun

The only reason I don't think it could be this is because why just kill the parents? Why take the girl instead of leaving her body with those of the parents? Someone besides the murderer knows what happened and for what reason and has not gone public with the information yet. Investigators know a heck of a lot more than they have divulged.

Anything is possible but Ontonagon county is probably more rural and isolated than Barron county
Thanks for that information; I had wondered if the maybe ME had gone to Ontonagon county and she was being called back, but it seems that if that were the case the entry would have had more detail. It's still a very interesting call log entry.

Bizarre theories continue to abound! It's as if people were looking to a bookie for long odds then plunking down a fiver.

But then, this seems a bizarre case.

But it will be proven mundane IF law enforcement can untangle the thing.

Like all of them - until then it will seem bizarre, mysterious.

I think Denise Closs made the 911 call before the abductors saw her, and she stayed silent so she wouldn't be heard right away. Perhaps the abductor heard the dispatcher calling out, asking for someone to speak, then went toward her.

My gut says the family knew the abductor(s) and they were after Jayme. They must have had a purpose for keeping her alive.

This is all just speculation based on the facts laid before us.

All cases like this they are told not to speak to the media. But most still do ie: NG every night and most times it’s people who aren’t even directly connected. With this case i hear nothing but crickets. I think it’s very unusual. IMO
Hi all...MOO. I’m wondering if everyone is silent because of the concerns that the perp may have known or watched the family. Fear is a very powerful motivator.

I agree. The only logical conclusion that I've been able to make is that there was family to be notified.
