Now that I've seen the aerial, is it possible they parked on the other side of the woods next to the other highway? Then just walked through the woods to the house?

I've thought this all along. Why park in their driveway, as that's the only way out?
Park down the hwy, or in back to a connecting property that you can run to.

Hi all...MOO. I’m wondering if everyone is silent because of the concerns that the perp may have known or watched the family. Fear is a very powerful motivator.

The family was told not to speak to the press by LE but I agree that people in this small town seem terrified. Watching the news videos I posted above, a lady who didn't even know them says she got a new dog (a pit bull) and her sister bought a gun to protect herself. The lady at the table where they were selling bracelets seemed really nervous and shaken up as well. I noted that the mom of a close friend of Jayme's spoke to the press but her daughter was not mentioned by name nor shown-- probably because they are scared and trying to protect the kids. The moms eyes looked like she had been crying or was very close to tears. I can see the fear on these locals faces. It's no wonder that few friends have spoken to the press. No one wants to make themselves and their family a target if there is a crazed gunman still lurking in their community. JMO.

The problem is if someone known to the Closs's, or online person(s) committed this crime then all the investigators probably would have zeroed in on some suspect(s) by now. At this point it seems more likely this was a stranger danger crime. Since people have been killed over something as small as a cinnamon bun, I don't see it as bizarre that someone would be murdered for money.

But stranger abduction and murder is much more rare than we often believe or think .

Thanks for that information; I had wondered if the maybe ME had gone to Ontonagon county and she was being called back, but it seems that if that were the case the entry would have had more detail. It's still a very interesting call log entry.

Do states share Medical Examiners? Ontonogan County is in Michigan (Upper Peninsula) I believe. Unless there's another in WI.

I wouldn’t think so. A cursory search for the MEs in each county provides different names.

Do you think it might also be possible that James may have won some cash money at the casino, and perhaps may have been followed home by some drug crazed robbers?

Bars - not very much on a Sunday night/Monday morning.

Sunday night football? Those who work shift work? Wisconsin? Definitely active on a Sunday night. It is also usually service industry because alot of restaurants are closed on Monday. Maybe not as happening as a Friday night but still pretty active.

Noticing that outside light is on. I imagine it's been on since that night. Dad was able to see sho was at the door, if he looked out...Not sure why a would-be killer would leave an overhead light on right over his head. jmo

I see what you mean, I am not very tech savvy but a lot of people are, can it be hard to identify someone online? The taking of a child with murder of parents is just such a personal act, not sure if it could be a stranger danger crime. If they came to steal, using your analogy a cinnamon bun, why add a whole other level of crime/s to that? Escalated far too quickly with a tragic outcome.

I think this is possible. It only crossed my mind because LE did in fact go to the casino after visiting his work.

No, I didn't notice the county was in a different state, oops but others have also pointed out my thought was not reasonable for other reasons. I should know by now not to post a random thought without actually considering it. Thanks to everyone for kindly correcting my crazy idea.

Just a couple of things I was thinking about:

1. Rural homes don't usually have house numbers on the outside, they have a fire sign at the end of the driveway with the city/town and house number/street address. It is the red metal sign you can see here: Search near Closs house turns up empty in Wisconsin. Locals would know this, I don't know if someone from an urban/suburban area would look for this. I didn't see any house numbers on the Closs house video above.
   
   
2. Ontonagon County appears to be where Denise's family came from and some still reside. There is a public webpage and genealogy tree she appears on.
   
   
3. This is grasping at straws, but I wonder if the septic company has been contacted. They came to the house twelve times in the past three years based on county GIS webpage.

If they came 12 times, that means I was probably right that the home equity loan was not so much for home improvements like remodeling, and more likely one single chunk of money to replace the septic.

#3 — quarterly inspections ...sounds normal. It’s against the law in most places to not have a septic service.

It does seem unusual, I believe the law here is every 36 months for pumping and every visit was for pumping the holding tank.
