Found Alive WI - Ryan Borgwardt, 45, Green Lake, 11 Aug 2024 *evidence that he faked his death and is alive in Eastern Europe*

I find it more important for RB to make restitution than waste additional taxpayer resources accommodating him in jail.

I also doubt he'd be sentenced to time for a single misdemeanor obstruction charge. A good indicator is his signature bond release. IMO, this was a moral crime against his wife and children that he rightfully will never recover from. What an indecent person...

A criminal complaint states Borgwardt is charged with one count of misdemeanor obstructing an officer. Court filings state he intended to mislead investigators by "intentionally" leaving items at Green Lake to make it seem as though he had drowned.

Court records show Borgwardt was issued a $500 signature bond at his initial court appearance on Wednesday. A judge also ordered him to surrender his passport to the clerk's office.
Perhaps restitution is the reason he's been charged. He will legally be responsible for cost to LE.

I do hope his wife divorces. This is way past a case of infidelity. It placed undue hardship on the family both financially and mentally. It caused embarrassment on a state and national level to the family, stress to the children, involved law enforcement and others who sacrificed time and money for nothing. There are some things a person can forgive, but this is beyond that.

Forget infidelity and embarrassment -- this man's actions were cruel, indecent, and inhuman. He intentionally faked being dead to his spouse, children, and parents! -- IMO, this is unforgivable.

ETA: I was an adult when I lost my parents to natural causes, and I still grieve them. The loss of a parent changes your DNA. You don't get over it -- you just adjust to living without them. I also think about the Orca whale in WA's Puget Sound who lost her calf on Christmas Eve and who has been carrying the deceased calf on her head-- refusing to let go-- for at least 11 days now.... "the burden of grief." Ryan Borgwardt didn't hesitate putting his family through any of this. JMO

Good point. Elephants feel deep grief too.

Apparently, RB's wife has filed for divorce. April is hearing. How could she not do so after thinking he died, then finding out his betrayal. She and kids will heal, but I can tell you from an abuse situation, you never really forget, and although life goes on and you don't dwell on a particular situation, you don't comletely forget.

Good for her! It's a wonder she didn't do it months ago.

I'm guessing he had money hidden somewhere, or other things she didn't know about, and she wanted everything exposed before starting the proceedings.

So,what's the latest on him? Still living with his mom and dad? Working?

Ironically, just found this after last post. Not much info, however.

Fox 11 News, April 15, 2025
GREEN LAKE (WLUK) – Another status conference will be scheduled for Ryan Borgwardt, who allegedly faked his death and went to Eastern Europe.

Borgwardt, 44, faces one misdemeanor count of obstruction. No new court date was immediately. No trial date has been set.

Borgwardt did not appear at the hearing Tuesday. In Wisconsin, defendants in misdemeanor cases can allow their attorneys to appear on their behalf at certain hearings, and that’s what happened for this session.

Separately from the criminal case, Borgwardt’s wife filed to have their marriage annulled. An April 28 hearing is scheduled in that matter.

IMO, she wants him and their marriage erased as if it never happened! Good on her.

Fair is fair.

He tried to erase himself from theirs.

Here's the public information about his court cases. I couldn't link his directly, but put his name into the search engine and you'll get them.

I don't recall seeing these before:

More charges than just the resisting an officer. New charges, from March 18th. Violating a domestic abuse injunction, resisting/obstructing a PO (new, bail-jumping.

Charming fella.

So he fakes his own death, willfully abandoned his family, but now that he's been found out, he can't leave them alone?

It's too bad that there can't be steeper charges so he can be productive. Behind bars. Making license plates, folding paper, something useful and leave the family he threw away to recover in peace.

Agree.
There must have been some pre-disappearance indication to his behavior, obviously not recognized at the time.

Sounds like he doesn't realize he's crossed the finish line with his family. "I'm sorry, honey," just isn't going to do it. Remorse, like forgive, is spelled with 7 letters, but that's the end of their commonness.

The March 18th charge isn't on the link I posted.

Oh boy. Sounds like this dude has some serious mental health issues. I hope he's locked up before someone gets hurt.

To me and some of the blinding evidence it seems as he bolted...Mail order husband!

Lots of mental questions, the first being who would plot the entire fake death/international woman scenario with expectations of not being caught?

When he came back, did he really expect to return to his wife/family as though nothing happened? Did he expect there to be no charges? Did he expect to be financially ruined?

Sounds like he attempted to see his wife. Well, just a hint. She is done.

Best thing that could happen would be for his mom and dad to kick him out.

Any updates? Intrigued with what's going to eventually happen to this guy. Certainly his family has no use for him. "Leave us alone," doesn't seem to have registered with him. I just keep thinking about his kids, how they have to handle his behavior.
