I don't think the parents could've done much more than what they did. They last saw her around 9pm, which seems a normal time for people to head to their bedrooms to rest. Is there something that I am missing here? If she was still attending school, what could the parents possibly do to make sure that she didn't borrow another kid's phone to contact him? Or that he didn't buy and gave her a new phone that she kept hidden? I don't think the parents are at fault here with the information we have as of right now. Sometimes kids with normal, loving families fall into these dynamics, get abused by and adult, etc. Assuming that Sophia was abused at home is a bit premature.

in arkansas a "hot check" is the same thing as "bouncing" a check. in other words, he wrote a check on his own account but there were insufficient funds to cover it. i'm a native arkansan who currently resides in texas.

I agree, most parents do their very best and being blamed isn’t helpful in this situation. I hope she’s found safe soon.

In Arkansas at least, if he is on felony probation, he automatically waives his right to consent to search. They can come in any time, anywhere he is.

One of the articles stated that he took her to arkansas previously but that she "returned home last year" which could mean as late as December, which would still line up with the timeline. The no contact order could have been issued following her return home. MOO

But there's no getting between young girls in love, and the guys they love, for whatever reason that might be.

Interestingly, the age of consent in Arkansas is 16. Isn't that where they were found before when they ran away together? So the crimes would be, traveling across state lines for immoral purposes (is that still a thing?), interfering with the custody of a minor, and violating a court order. Along with the violations of probation.

Prayers they are found quickly, and somehow this pregnancy is worked out positively for the baby. Somehow.

I could be - however expedicted search warrants aren't popular with some approving officials due to the possiblity of (1) mistakes or issues in the process or (2) agencies involved overstating or unintentionally misstating evidence in their search warrant affidavit - both of which could impact the case judicially. So it really depends on the approving authority in my opinion.

This isn't two near age teenagers, this is a forty year old deliberately grooming and raping a sixteen year old, impregnating her.

It's not just a power and age imbalance, it's illegal, predatory, and has a high chance of resulting in the death of this girl and her unborn child.

But they were in Arkansas for months of their relationship, including the time when she got pregnant. She was there through December with him.

This is tragic, but their conception was not illegal.

• she had been using multiple devices to communicate with strangers online
• Day (allegedly) came and picked her up on July 29 and they arrived in Arkansas on August 1
• Her parents had believed she was still in the Beaver Dam area
• Police located her in Arkansas in December
• Her parents were shocked at her location
• She was returned home and then reported missing again February 3
• Surveillance footage from the family home shows a man who appears to be Day on the driveway
