WI WI - Suzanne Marie Schultz, 17, Black Earth, 1 Dec 1978

  • #81

According to Unidentified wiki:
The victim's body was found in a field along with the body of a man. They were believed to have been killed less than a year before they were found and there were gunshot wounds present on both victims. It is believed they were killed together.
Yes these are the newpaper articles and NamUs Profiles I posted when I first posted about the possible connection.

I don’t know why I feel so strongly that these two might be them, I just do.

IMO, this 32 year old (documented as mentally unstable) man, who tried to kill himself after threatening to harm his wife and neighbors in 1970, and who took a 17 year old adolescent girl out of state in 1978, is responsible for her disappearance. Her U-haul trailer was found in Chicago which includes Riverdale, a village on the far south side of Chicago, which is where his family is from. No one ever heard from his family. How come? Court records in Florida show he was still alive as late as 2009.
I have always felt something was hinky regarding their disappearances.

My personal opinion is that he got her involved in something that resulted in the loss of both their lives. But that’s just me.

All I can say for certain is that Detective Mayerhofer has really taken this case on, and he has not let up.

After my first correspondence with Detective Mayerhofer, a few things happened. Suzanne’s profile changed to reflect she went missing from Florida not Black Earth Wisconsin.

Then Lund’s NamUs profile was updated to reflect the same detective, Detective Mayerhofer, as the person investigating Lund’s case. Despite Lund’s case initially being assigned to a department in Illinois, it now displays the Dane County Sheriff's Office in Madison Wisconsin as the Investigative Agency on file.

This makes sense judging by my most recent conversation with Det. Mayerhofer, which focused primarily on Lund and his activities/whereabouts.

the Detective also confirmed that Lund has a death certificate. He asked a few questions about the Tampa situation that made it sound like he was going to look further into the birrrh certificate. Possibly to see if that was a formality thing vs an actual death certificate proving Lund is in fact deceased.

I don’t know much more than that. But he ended the email with a reassuring comment that despite the fact he will be out of the office, he will continue to check emails should something come up.

These things take time, and now we just have to be patient.

If my recent conversations with the Detective are anything to go by, I truly believe there will be an update of some kind in the year to come.

Interesting. What were the court records for? I wonder when the dearth certificate was issued.
