I think some readers who haven't followed too closely might be interested in a kind of "primer" describing some of the people in the news stories.

The most important thing I got out of it was that the family asks permission from LE before "outing" people who are not cooperating with the police. WW goes so far as to call it a "strategy." That may be a little over the top, but it might help some of you fence-sitters to know LE is consulted before the family makes these statements.

I have not seen any journalist point out a sad irony. Many of the pictures of Kyron that we have come to know were posted by TH on her Facebook account, and appear to have been taken by her. The frequently reproduced picture of Kyron holding up a seed package is one of a series, taken in 2009, of Kyron and his classmates planting seeds in planters. One picture in the series, probably taken by the teacher, shows a lovely, serene, smiling TH, with book in hand and Baby K in her lap, reading to children sitting on the classroom floor. TH captioned the photo: "Reading Tops and Bottoms to Kyron's class and doing a plant lesson (with Baby K's assistance). Tomorrow we add DIRT!!! Under the picture of Kyron with the seed packet she wrote: "That's right . . . we did Mammoth sun flowers in preperation for Mother's Day. I may be getting a few calls."

If you speak to him again, ask if there are any laws forbidding loaning or gifts of guns. I couldn't find anything in the statutes.

As a conscientious gun owner, I should think it unwise to loan a gun to someone for protection, given that should the gun be discharged in the commission of a crime (or self-protection) it would get the gun owner into hot water. While the owner may not have been a party to whatever event transpired, they're still legally responsible for the gun and its usage.

The same author has written 37 articles on the Kyron Horman case. The articles have covered and 'looked at' many different aspects of the case. Many, but not all of the articles, have included a picture and sometimes pictures of Kyron. I wonder if those who are so put out by this article think all of the articles by this author are yellow journalism, or just this one?

I was going to ask if I was the only one who doesn't mind the article at all. Actually, nothing about the media coverage has bothered me in the slightest. It is what it is. Plus, no matter how sensational, it keeps the story in the headlines. And if Kyron is still alive, that's very important, imo.

I agree with all of you and wrote the same thing a few pages back. The article isn't aimed at people like us who follow this every day, but for general readers who don't know the "players" in the case.

And I learned quite a few things from the article also.

I'm on the fence more than ever.

The "article" may have said that they ask LE's permission. However, at the presser on 7/30/10, the parents said differently:

They said that they were the ones who called DeDe out in public and LE had nothing to do with that statement.

The most interesting IMO was:

DY: we still get regular briefings, every day or other day.

KH: can't talk about any specifics (investigation)

Until this press conference, they seemed to imply that the information they were putting out to the public came from LE. Many of the so-called "facts" from the parents are believed to be from LE.

However, the parents also said information they "released" was from TH. At the time it was released, they NEVER even suggested TH was their "source." But they did tell us over and over that TH lies.

Now I'm more on the fence because I just do not have the time to go back thru all the reports to figure out which "facts" obtained from the parents should now be considered "opinion" and/or "rumor." Because any information they obtained from TH is either a lie or slanted with their belief that TH is responsible. By slanted I mean that we do not know if we are getting exactly what TH alledgedly said or their interpretation.

Therefore, my opinion is stronger that all we know as a fact in this case is that Kyron went missing from his school.

I don't know if this will show up as a multi-quote as I'm intending or not. But, anyway, yes that is interesting and I didn't know that either. How old is he again? Would he be in the same school? Well, I suppose even if he's in high school that it wouldn't be that far from the elementary school. Interesting. Anyway, I'm not going to necessarily say anything else. But, certainly if we could talk about the living arrangements regarding Terri's son, then we can talk about this especially now that it's in the msm....?

That must be why Desiree say she enjoys the drive to Medford with the boys, plural...I was thinking he lived with her and rode up with her to get Kyron...but she probably takes them both on same weekends. I wonder if Terri and/or Kaine drove D's son to the meeting point with Kyron.

It's hard to take a reporter seriously who misspells and misuses words. Leaving out Kyron's picture is mind-boggling.

One interesting quote, IMHO, from this whole article is this:

Some people think McCain's opinions are gospel, some think he's only a talking head. I think this helps us keep his statements in perspective.

I used to respect WW somewhat, I mean they did expose (and win a Pulitzer for) the whole [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Goldschmidt"]Neil Goldschmidt[/ame] scandal, despite the tabloidish coverage of this case. This latest article did give us some new info, but the heavy implications about guns and drugs? That's just not ethical reporting. Hmph. If it wasn't free, I'd cancel my subscription. Only sort of joking.

On a related note (forgive me if it's been posted before) here's some info on [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithia_Motors"]Lithia Motors[/ame] if you're curious. It's a big company. I wonder if she was trying to keep Lithia out of it. I also wonder if they may have put up some of the reward money.

Well, drugs and guns were really all that was lacking...we have (possible) sexual affairs, money, murder for hire,divorce action, restraining orders, illicit texting, possible conspiracies, a cop,alleged drinking problems, possible PPD, at least 9 marriages between the parents, and oh yeah...a missing little boy

LOL, today my bff (a redhead, btw) and I got together and went to visit her mother. We live about 65 miles a part, so its not like we see each other every day, unless it is an emergency, any way we had an hour drive to her mothers so she asked about Kyron (knowing I would have the scoop). I said of course I was up to date on the case, and it is a circus. She said she felt they were railroading Terri. I laughed again, then I asked her if she knew why. She said she didn't know. I love it when she opens doors! I figured I would start with the good stuff, they are doing a grand jury hearing and eone is invited but her, oh, did you know LE thinks she hired someone to kill her husband?, no, did you hear that so and so kidneys failed, she went to Canada, and won't tell us what non-approved drug she was taking, or that K & T got together when D was pregnant,....and I walked out, and she's like wait, wait, but do they have anything on her? She won't talk and has a look-a-like bff that lived.....I can't go on. I'm sure you all get the drift, but I found it very funny, then I found it very sad. How can I be acting so glib when this is actually about a missing child. It got me thinking: why aren't searches everyday more important than messing with these taudry details. Why isn't someone organizing this, independant of LE. Why isn't there a group of people checking out the areas around sex offenders in their neighborhood.

I myself am not sure why a local newspaper needs to confine themselves to only reporting that Kyron is missing. But, thats just me. I want to know who the players are, and this article helped me with that. And, it keeps the case in the forefront, when really, the case is starting to lose its luster. JMO - i.b.

Given that Kaine felt it newsworthy that Terri took excessive amounts of aspirn and ibuprofen during her bodybuilder days, I'm not surprised that a reporter would consider it game to report that DY's also engaged in self medicatiion - with disasterous consequences.
