AFTER my alarm went off. :furious:

I have family in eastern Canada that will get hit fairly hard in the storm, many of them fishermen. Thank God they are all in, but I worry about their boats as that is their life's saving tied to the wharf.
BOSTONA historic winter storm that has caused more than 2,100 U.S. flights to be scrubbed has triggered a blizzard warning in New York City and may drop more knee-deep snow on Boston, leaving thousands without power.
Snow will start falling early Friday in New York, where the blizzard warning begins at 6 a.m. It will then change to rain or sleet.
The storm may bring 30 centimetres of snow driven by gusts of up to 72 km/h as it lashes the city into the evening, said Joe Pollina, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
Were taking this storm very seriously and you should take this storm very seriously, said Jerome Hauer, commissioner of New Yorks division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.

That's insane! Hope you can go back to sleep and get some rest. Snowing here now but they only predict 10 cms = about 3 inches. Hope it's not more! I hate driving in snow. :sigh:
Just wanted to say THANKS for the measurement lessonI don't know metric. Would that be centimeters? 3 cm = 1 inch? TIA
We're real close to the 34.3 -- about under the tail of the 3. On a hill that usually gets three or four inches more than the surrounding area. It should be exciting tomorrow...
Anyone have any experience with feral cats? I am concerned about the feral/stray little guy I have been feeding for a few years. He comes through the winter fine (I have no idea where he goes to stay during big storms, but he's been around at least three winters) but a storm of this size has me worried about him. He won't come anywhere near people, and the closest I've gotten him to come for food is about 15 feet from the house.
I was thinking about putting a couple of boxes (waterproofed) along side the back and front of the house (protected from the wind/snow a bit by the side of the stoop) with a dish of food in each - does this sound like he would be able to smell it and go inside for some protection?
I hate seeing his little paw prints along my walkways every time we have snow, I feel so bad for him and wish he wasn't so afraid... Anyway, just looking for ideas on how to help this little guy thru the storm![]()
