IIRC- the fifth amendment protects a person from incriminating themselves in a crime they committed, or have involvement with, even after the fact knowledge of a crime that -say- they chose to keep quiet about for instance.
If the A's are called to testify at the GJ and take the fifth, that is an admission by omission of their guilt/involvement in SOME way in the alleged crime.
But they are also shielded from providing testimony which might be self-incriminating relative to a whole other ballgame.......for instance a crime not alleged to have been committed by the target of the Grand Jury's investigation.
The 5th offers broad protections...:blowkiss:
