I haven't seen the movie, but I did read the Wikipedia entry (which as we all know is infallible) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Housemaid_(2010_film)), and it seems that the housemaid herself is the victim of the "accident" on the stairs. She also hangs herself from the chandelier (near the stairs) rather than from the balcony and lights herself on fire.
In the original movie (again, according to Wikipedia) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Housemaid_(1960_film)), the housemaid does cause the man's son to fall down the stairs (and poisons his daughter), then commits suicide (with the man) by taking rat poison.
Appears the only reason for Dina to be skirting her own deposition is that she knows she has *no* alibi and wants to press her defamation against the Zahaus with immigration nonsense. As KZ said, likely to try to get Zahau WDS case thrown out. But I am told by lawyer friends that the case will not be thrown out just because a plaintiff is not a legal immigrant. <AZLawyer may wish to expound on this>
I also don't believe Dina can suddenly find criminality in a Zahau plaintiff's past and get the WDS thrown out either.
Truly Dina appears to be simply using all her dilatory tactics to delay the WDS. It is most saliently clear that Dina has *no* alibi, and no valid defense in the WDS (and to me, it is most evident that Dina premeditated and murdered Rebecca in cold blood) and that is why Dina is using all these manipulative maneuvers and technicalities to try to get the case postponed till eternity. Good luck Dina because you will need it. That.Is.For.Certain.
Hello AZLawyer! Sorry I am just now answering this, but was on a blissful vacation in Oahau, then back to the insanity of a new school year starting.
I have seen the 2010 movie and the housemaid/babysitter (Eun-yi) does indeed hang herself tied to a chandelier, but jumps from the balcony- with her hair under the noose. The balcony almost plays the role of another character in the movie and there are many shots that use it. Eun-yi seems to be jealous of the Rich husband's relationship with his wife, and jealous of the wife's relationship with the child and her position in the family. Eun-hi knows she will never be anything more than a babysitter to the husband, and will never be allowed to have his child. I have attached some screen shots from the film.
The movie was not in the original search warrant served, so I believe Jonah told LE about the movie during one of his interviews, and how Rebecca had spoken of feeling like the main character, Eun-yi, competing for time with the (ex) wife and child. Max's accident and her death certainly seem to mimick aspects of the film.
My guess is that Dina was the one who brought up this movie.........it was not found at the house when the police were investigating.............
Seeing those pics of the chandelier and stuff really make me wonder what really happened in that house and with that chandelier that Maxie in no way could reach on his own to make it fall.
Ann Rule confirmed The Housemaid was taken as evidence from the mansion, and it was not on the original search warrants from 7/13/2011 that were released. But we know that eventually about 130 items were taken as evidence - as Dina has requested to see them all.
Since the movie the was not on the original search warrant, someone had to tell them about the movie and that Rebecca owned it. Logic says that was the person Rebecca lived with, Jonah Shacknai.
I wonder if she even said to him, "The hanging would have been even more dramatic if Eun-yi were nude?"

Sweet T, this thread is only about the WDS lawsuit of Rebecca being murdered by Dina. Nina and Adam. LE already ruled that Max's death was accidental.
Ann Rule is simply an author and her book is not a part of the official LE investigative file - no different than the Left Handed Kitten forum that Dina has referenced in her allegations on Max's death is also not a part of any official investigative file.
