Dina and Jonah had a 50/50 custody agreement with Max. Surely you don't think she should have done nothing but sit by the phone the HALF of the week - EVERY WEEK - that Max was with Jonah? And NEVER sleep?

IMO, that seems very unrealistic.

And continuing in the sarcasm vein....surely you don't think that Rebecca should NEVER have used the restrioom while watching Max? IMO, that seems VERY unrealistic...

I am sure that Dina never slept/used the bathroom when Max was in her care.........NOT. Nor do I think that Dina never had a glass or two of red wine when Max was in her care.

I also sleep very heavy when I am sick, so I have no problem with this story. And just to make sure th story is factual, Dina woke up, checked her text messages, saw all of the texts subjects about Max, and THEN her phone rang. It is in the Phoenix magazine article.

There is only the word of one person that the police were there for hours banging on Dina's door.

Or do you have a link to prove that?

I guess it depends on what is considered "factual", but even AR wrote Dina finally responded to police knocking on her door. I know, grain of salt...

“Jonah said he had attempted to locate his ex-wife Dina, but he’d gotten no answers when he called her phones. He was able to reach her twin sister, Nina Romano, in San Francisco. Dina had finally responded to police knocking on her door early Tuesday and spelled Jonah in the hospital.”

So Ann Rule is ok to quote...if it serves the Zahau crowd purpose? HA! What happened to all the belly aching that her book is just FICTION?

Actually, no I don't consider the book "factual". That's why I said in my post I guess it depends on what you consider factual. I thought you believed what was written in the book since your refer back to the book when discussing details from Rebecca's journal entries? The comment about Jonah holding Rebecca's face...

ETA - I apologize if I misunderstood.

The blurb you quoted may be true. All it said was that "after Jonah had tried calling many times, Dina finally responded to police knocking on her door."

And that is suppose to prove Police were there for hours and hours knocking on doors and windows?

Because it doesn't, IMO.

BBM - I never said windows. In fact, that is news to me. Thank you for that.

  • #787
Not at all - no "confession", but nice try.

I said that it was a "he said/she said" situation, and the police did not arrest either Dina or Jonah.

The police don't arrest a lot of criminals including murderers and rapists. That absolutely proves NOTHING. ZILCH. NADA. ZIPPO. A BIG FAT ZERO.

How about this link? It was Nina that said detectives were banging on the door? Surely Nina wasn't lying?

CROSSTALK: Can you tell, can you tell me, sorry to interrupt you, can
you tell me, uh why she didn't arrive at the hospital with Max at 300pm
if he fell down the stairs at 1000am on Monday?

NINA: yeah yeah because uh her house um has 3 levels, there's a top
level that was converted into a big bedroom area I think and she wasn't
feeling well, she had been sick she had the flu, and she went up to
the third level tooo sleep. she wears earplugs- she sleeps with
earplugs, and so she had gone up there because she didn't sleep well
the night before because she was sick and she didn't get much sleep so
she went up to the third level, she put her ear plugs in and she went
to sleep. So when JOnah was calling her she didn't hear her phone, she
had missed his calls, and then finally when the detectives came and
they were I guess banging on her door and she finally heard that,
that's how that's why there was a time delay.

That will CERTAINLY matter to the Judge.

In fact, as much as the Zahau crowd likes to bring up the spats Dina and Jonah had while divorcing - it won't be allowed in court, IMO. A decent Judge (which she is) will NEVER allow "he said/she said" testimony - when there was no one arrested - especailly when it has nothing to do with the court case at hand, IMO.

Besides, the Zahaus are not even attempting to use that as evidence. The only EVIDENCE they list in their court papers are:

1. The SDSO files - who ruled Rebecca's death a SUICIDE.
2. The Medical Examniers records - he ruled Rebecca's death a SUICIDE.
3. The opinion of Cyril Wecht, who is recorded many times saying that he can NOT say the death was a murder, but he can not say it was a suicide either.
4. The Bicycle Guy witness who is friends with a Zahau supporter.

The Zahaus should just withdraw the case now, and save their money and pride, IMO.

So what? It doesn't say the detectives came over and over and banged on her door.
And who cares, and why does it MATTER that detectives "banged on her door?"

It certainly proves the police made DESPERATE ATTEMPTS to contact Dina -- via phone as Jonah stated to police he kept trying to call her, and even the physical Coronado home Jonah let Dina use. If Dina was vigilant, she would have heard the police knocking, and likely pounding (as that's what rational people would do in emergencies), on the door. I'm positive the police did not use their pinky toes to gently tap on the door. Wherever the heck Dina was, and whatever the heck she was doing, the fact was, she NEVER ANSWERED THE DOOR when POLICE CAME RAPPING ON THE DOOR even though she alleged she was frightened about little Max being with Rebecca -- so frightened in fact, that Dina heard NO DOOR KNOCKS BY THE POLICE IN Max's EMERGENCY and could not be found until 4 plus hours later by Jonah's telephone call. That is simply ironic and grossly negligent of Dina the mother to her one and only child for whom she didn't even bother to sit "vigil" by his dying bedside at the hospital but instead immediately FLED the hospital Tues morning at 6am according to her own twin sister Nina and NEVER RETURNED till maybe 6pm or 8pm and then DISAPPEARED again till Wed morning at around 7am according to Jonah's phone call.

Wow. Some mother Dina was. Worried about her critically injured child in the hospital? Any rational human being can see that was NOT the case. LESS THAN a day of being with Max in the hospital that fateful Monday when she couldn't be found for hours, Dina DISAPPEARED FOR HOURS AGAIN and AGAIN from Max's bedside AND innocent Rebecca is then FOUND TORTURED, HUNG AND MURDERED. GO figure if this wasn't a rage-a-holic mother who cared only about her two-bit self. And no one else. Not even her one and only child. SHAME ON YOU DINA. Your conduct is DISGUSTING and REPULSIVE and smacks of RANCID MORAL DECAY like a psychopath's.

Anyways....I just had a very weird thought....What if Nina, knowing Rebecca would not take her call, purposely drove JONAH'S CAR IN FRONT OF 1043 OCEAN and parked in the drive way.... Rebecca would have run down the stairs, out the back and TO THE GATE NINA DIDN'T TOUCH thinking Jonah had just arrived. Wouldn't that have made Rebecca extremely vulnerable? She could have been assualted and backed into the bushes in the courtyard, causing the abrasions on her back. AND THAT "JURY" IS WHY NINA NEVER TOUCHED THE GATE...SHE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF JONAH'S CAR.... and that is what Dina was doing out front, pacing and waiting for NINA to drive Jonah's car into the driveway.......IMO....case solved. YIKES, YIKES, YIKES

And which Zahau supporter are you suggesting that is friends with Jim Haager, the bicycle guy? If you think that it is me, I have never met the man. So be careful about your jumping to conclusions and making accusations. Any attorney worth his/her salt would be telling you to not be making public accusations........IMO

Switching gears... It has always bothered me that Nina says she borrowed Jonah's car that night.
1. Dina said she was sitting vigil by Max's bedside - means she didn't need her car
2. Dina said she was alone - so where was Jonah? - means it would have been more convenient, and obvious, to borrow Dina's car
3. It has to be that Nina had to borrow Jonah's car because Dina's was not at the hospital - means that neither was Dina!

This is a smoking gun IMO. Add to that the superfluous minutiae about Nina 'not touching the gate' and Nina handling Rebecca's phone and it is definitely an eyebrow raiser.

It proves police KNOCKED on her door. Big Whoop.
