WS Members/loved ones who have Coronavirus or testing for Coronavirus (Group Hug)

The doctor's office was super crowded (well, the parking lot was, lol). Results took longer than 15 minutes, more like an hour. They told us to go home and wait for a call. We both tested NEGATIVE! :D:D

All of my co-workers tested negative as well. I'll continue to work from home until I get the CVS test results, hopefully by Thursday. The other secretary in the office is okay with that. This Covid scare may be the kick in the pants I need to start eating better consistently and to finally give up some bad habits.

THANK YOU to everyone who cheered me on and offered me hope and good advice over the last few days. I appreciate it all so much! :)

Soooooooo happy, Rose!!! Lunch break and I thought I'd come peak to see if there was news, So happy for you guys!!!

I don't know if anyone will see this, but here I am again. Had a fever over the weekend of July 17-19, but tested negative in a rapid test on July 20.

BUT tonight right now - I have another fever. My fever usually runs a little low, 96.8 - 97.8 and my temp right now was 98.8, so I know it's high for me. I feel some discomfort in both ears, like very early signs of an ear infection. Earlier felt like my throat was starting to get sore, you know that feeling.

So should I call in sick tomorrow and get another test? I got the rapid test via a doctor who attends the church I work at. Thinking about calling the pastor and asking him to call the doctor to see if I can get another test at 8am.

I'm not prone to allergies, never have been, but even with allergies fever is not usually a symptom, is it? This is so frustrating!

I would probably call in sick for sure. And get another test if it’s an option.

hope you feel better. :)

I don’t usually have a fever with allergies.

I would call in sick and get another test if possible.

I’m sorry you’re feeling unwell :(

I think you need to call your doctor. I think it's possible you have something else going on.

Could it be a sinus infection, Rose? The ear pressure, the low fever, the draining of sinuses in the back of your throat making it feel raw? Is what I have when I have a sinus infection is why I am thinking this.
Could it be?

Call the dr. for sure.

I love how you guys are so quick to offer advice and reassurance - I really really appreciate that!

Well, higher temp is gone. Tested it on 2 digital thermometers just now and it was 98.8 and 98.6, pretty much what my temp usually is, maybe even a little lower than normal. DH put some hydrogen peroxide in my ears and they're not feeling achy any more (that's a common thing around here, do other people do that?).

Didn't get up with the pastor but I remembered he had a late deacons zoom meeting tonight. The doctor's office is just three blocks or so from my office, so I think I'll just leave early and swing by there on my way in.

CSIDreamer - "something else going on" is probably the case. Any other time in BC (before corona) days, I'd just pop a couple Tylenols and not think too much about a mild fever. Now? I'm too paranoid to think anything but the worst. I swear I'm not usually a hypochondriac, lol.

And get this, that test I took at the CVS drive-thru pharmacy back on July 18? I still have not gotten the results. 16 days and counting. Is that crazy?!?

I'm glad you're less feverish, Rose. I agree with others about "something else going on," especially as you have other signs of sinus congestion/inflammation. Even a mild sinus infection can cause a fever. And remember that ordinary summer colds exist, are beastly, and can linger or cause post-cold problems like infections. I have a boatload of plant and environmental allergies and take medication daily for them, but I hadn't actually had a cold in years - until this year, when I had one in late December/early January and another a month or so ago. Both served to remind me how awful these "ordinary" illnesses can make you feel, feverish or not.

I've done the hydrogen peroxide thing too - my ears regularly act up when my allergies are bad, and it's a good cleanser for removing bacteria and debris from the outer ear canal. HP is not as dehydrating to your skin as rubbing alcohol, which I've heard recommended for swimmer's ear/moisture in ear. Just don't overdo it, as HP will also debride living tissue if applied frequently. And don't let anyone but a doctor put a swab or other applicator deep in your ear, as we've all heard those warnings about Q-tips for generations now. (Though it can be very tempting when that annoying itching or dripping feeling just won't stop.)

I agree it's absolutely maddening that there's such a long delay in getting test results – not to mention pretty pointless in terms of either treating a serious infectious disease or controlling its spread. After 2 weeks wait time, you're either going to be really sick and getting treatment for Covid-19 test or no test, or else pretty much over it. In any case, very few people can self-isolate or accurately contact-record for that length of time. That said, if having another quick test would ease your mind and the doctor agrees to perform the test, go for it. Peace of mind is good to have especially when you are showing symptoms of something – and fretting doesn't help anyone rest up and heal. Maybe ask the doctor or his assistant what is advisable for the symptoms you have while you're there, so you can start feeling better.

Good luck, and I hope you turn the corner on this soon!

I think we're all thinking differently these days.
I've never really paid much attention to my temperature but have now ordered a thermometer.
I know I used to have some for the kids, probably still packed away somewhere but none of them were the just aim ones so probably now is the time to get one.
I was saying to a friend, does this mean i'm turning into a hypochondriac :)

Getting ready to head to the doctor but just wanted to correct my last post. The temps I took before going to bed were 96.8 and 96.6, which are pretty normal temps for me. It was midnight when I made that earlier post and typed 98 instead. Despite staying up too late, I had a good night's sleep and will see what the doctor says. Feeling kind of embarrassed about posting about it now - it's probably just something minor. Like janewall so beautifully said, not everything is covid-19!

Thank you so much for the responses - will report back later this AM.

Dont feel embarrassed Rose. Its understandable to jump to worst case scenarios when our anxiety is high.

Well another false alarm (thankfully). I was afraid they'd turn me away after just having had a test on July 20 but they didn't blink an eye. My temp at the time was 97.2. Didn't get to see the doctor or even one of the NPs, but have an appointment for a more thorough exam on Friday (my day off). I'm in a small town and we only have two GPs, both of whom are always packed. It's nothing to wait hours to see somebody, even with an appointment. Feeling fine, no fever at all today. Afterwards I came in to work, just a half hour later than usual. I'm always super early in the morning, so no one even knew. Didn't even tell my co-workers about the incident because they already think I'm paranoid enough, lol.

Thanks again everyone for your input - I'd be going crazy without it! Oh and speaking of crazy, day 17 and still no results back from CVS!

Just got power back from Isaiah and checking on things, sounds very good Rose, really. Always better safe than sorry anyway and glad you feel better in general too, you did the right thing going! This is NOT a time to mess around with anything.
that you have still not heard back from CVS is INSANE!

Hope all went well with your exam today Rose!

Thank you, Kavya! It was a whole lot of nothing really (need to find a new doctor's office). No fever at all. Had the NP look at my legs (so embarrassing) and she just sort of shrugged it off "oh that's not too bad". Told her I was trying to eat better, exercise, and lose weight. She nodded approvingly but offered no advice on how to accomplish those goals. Spent less than 10 minutes with her, I'd say. Typical doctor visit for me at this place nowadays. There was another NP that I really liked, always asked for her. But she divorced and moved to North Carolina.

Oh, and I posted this on the main coronavirus thread, but after 20 days, I finally got my results from CVS - negative! What a surprise! o_O

So glad it was nothing and so glad you have cool goals! You'll figure how to meet them in a way that suits you, I have no worries.
I am so glad you posted, lady!
And the fact that the CVS test took 20 days is JUST incredible.
I also fear it's a sign of things to come in the Fall, when flu season hits. Testing will barely seem to make sense anymore in the Fall I fear, since results will likely be even more delayed than that

As a healthcare worker in EastTn, I have been tested weekly since June/July as required to maintain employment. My last test was 8/4/2020. I was notified last night (8/11/2020) at 9:45 pm that that test was positive. My doctor had already diagnosed me, so I have been on medications since Sunday. Really how are we supposed to safely take care of patients when it takes 8 days to get a result and work wants you there every day, going by the no news is good news cliche??
