My story—
In early Dec, 4 of the 5 of us tested positive. Husband had flu symptoms that came and went quickly (3 days) then just felt tired. Me and 2 of my kids had minor cold symptoms that lingered for a week & 1/2 to two weeks. More annoying than anything else. 3rd child tested negative but quarantined w/the rest of us. All recovered except for a little tiredness and I had some headaches (not too bad).
Jan 10 husband said his knee was sore. Next day it was swollen, red & angry when he came home from work. Next morning he goes to urgent care who sent him right to an orthopedist who told him to go to ER immediately for IV antibiotics. He’s in the hospital for 9 days. He was miserable b/c of the side effects. He came home and we did home health care, w/PICC line for IV meds. He had a hard time eating due to dry mouth and metallic taste (side effects). Last Sat and Sunday he seemed like he felt better so we thought he was on the mend. This past Tuesday morning he had a fever, was panting a little, and had trouble collecting his thoughts. Dr told me to bring him to ER for tests. He went into the ICU w/104 fever at 9am and went into cardiac arrest at 7pm and we lost him. He was 44.
Dr said either Covid weakened his heart or caused the infection in the first place. She said there’s a lot they don’t know.
Now I’m a widow w/3 teens and way over my head. Please—hold your love ones close.

I am so sorry. And I know how absolutely meaningless and trite that is, for someone who is deep in the middle of what you are going through.

And that is very similar to other people's experiences. Which is what makes Covid so impossible to understand. Random, some people feel almost normal, others seem to get better, and out of no where, drop.

Wishing you the best.

Such a tragic series of events. My condolences and my heart goes out to you. Made worse by the pandemic, I can't imagine. Yes, keep them close.

Oh my, what a shocking and terrible outcome. He was so young. I am so sorry. I hope you have support from family and friends to help see you through this very difficult time. I am praying for you and your family.

Oh @TDoc72 my heart breaks for you. This is such a horrible disease. On 60 Minutes tonight they covered a number of families who have lost a central family member like you have. Several Moms left alone with teens. A teen vowing to carry on the family business. A woman who lost her fiancé. There will never be a “back to normal” for them when this is over. I have Covid right now and I cried for them, as I cry for you. We are here for you as you find your way. And yes, I will h0ld my husband close (he has Covid too). Wrapping you in huge warm hugs.

Have you tried honey or chocolate to help with the cough? A spoonful of honey or a square of chocolate melted on the tongue have worked for DH and me. Or tea or hot water with lemon and honey. I don't know if these home remedies would work for Covid cough, though...

I hope you will be much better soon!

Thanks @anneg. I asked a friend to bring honey today and Ricola Honey Lemon cough drops. Wish I’d known about the chocolate! I just finished some Lemon Zinger tea with honey in it. Every idea can help. :)

Thank you for the prayers! This cough is wearing me out. I’ll check back in later. :)

OMG- briefings on the pandemic by real SCIENTISTS including Dr. Fauci! This should have taken place from the beginning of the pandemic and while I really appreciate it is happening now, I mourn the fact that this did not happen sooner, which I have no doubt resulted in more sickness and deaths from Covid.
