WS Members/loved ones who have Coronavirus or testing for Coronavirus (Group Hug)

My mother came in contact with a woman who later found out she had the coronavirus. My mother has not been tested because she has not displayed any symptoms but she has been told to stay home and take her temperature everyday. She also has to wear a mask and gloves when around my father who isn't in the best off health.

Did you test for it?

So glad you’re doing better!
Hi Gitana

No we only test here if you're in hospital. So until (if) we get antibody tests, I cant definitively say I had it which is annoying. 6 colleagues had it at the same time as me tho, with classic symptoms. I'm v sure it was corona.

But until we can get the test AND some kind of clear answer re whether you can get the bloody thing more than once, social distancing continues.

Hope all is well with you xX

Very stressful for you. When was the contact? I'm sure you are counting the days down to get past incubation. Hopefully all will be well.

She came into contact April 1 and the lady found out she had it April 5. When my mother came in contact with the lady she had no symptoms. I am in Colorado and my mother is in Delaware so I was not involved in that COVID-19 case.

It sounds optimistic. I believe the average infection emerges 5.5 days after exposure and she is getting close to the 14 day milestone too.

In my house it is now 16 days since my son (who caught it from me, presumably) showed symptoms. So I am hopeful that his girlfriend has been v lucky!

Ive been self isolating for three weeks now as I believe I have the virus. I’m in Uk and we don’t have the means to do the test. This is part of the poor preparation our government has put us through as part of their sick herd immunity plan..

I am fit and healthy but can honestly say this is horrible. It started with a severe fever and shakes that kept me awake all night, then the upset stomach and extreme diarrhoea arrived. Next it was a cough that was so violent I broke one of my teeth and bruised my diaphragm during an outbreak I couldn’t stop. My whole body aches, my eyeballs felt like they were on fire, there was a strange rattling noise in the middle of my chest and I couldn’t smell or taste a thing...

I was looking at a hospital admission last week but condition seemed to improve. I’m still coughing and everything hurts, but I can breathe, sleep and eat which is good. I will keep isolating until I am certain it’s not going to be passed to anyone. I feel one week after the cough has gone as I don’t actually know the rules and no one is telling me when I call my surgery to update them. I have even said two weeks isn’t right as that was one day after you guys were going to admit me and at a time I was at my worse.

Seriously take every precaution. This is not a flu, it’s deadly. I worry as my two sisters are nurses, and I worry someone else feels this bad and may end up on a ventilator or dead. Worry about where it came from, who is to blame and the economy/politics later, now just ensure you are safe...

I haven’t read about anyone else on here yet, and I don’t count on the official statistics (which are a joke and devoid of reality) as I’ve never had a test. I hope everyone else is well and just checking in to say on the mend with an expensive dental bill to come in the future...

@Mercsw ... That sounds like a dreadful experience to go through. Thank you for sharing. I am sorry about your tooth :(. I hope you continue to improve.

@Mercsw, that sounds really rough. I certainly hope you get well soon.

Sorry to hear this. Where in the UK are you, if you dont mind saying? Interested to know about spread etc. I am in Bucks. If you go on NHS 111 online it has sound advice re isolation. Also if symptoms linger (mine are but much better now) you can re-do the on line questionnaire which guides you then re whether you need to seek further help. If you are v concerned you need to phone 111 (not your GP) and they will advise you. Hope this helps and your nursing family stay safe.

The symptoms sound terrifying. Am so glad you seem to be improving and are not needing to be admitted at this stage.

I work in an environment where one person developed a low grade fever and dry cough. Two others developed a fever and cough later the same day and all three went into isolation. First person wasn't tested but the other two were. Their results came in 7 days later as positive. Meanwhile during that 7 day wait for results, another person developed symptoms and ended up testing positive. The day the results came in all of us were told to self isolate at home but IMO it was too late as we had all worked during those 7 days. Two others tested positive after we had to go into self isolation. I developed mild symptoms (low grade fever, nagging cough, headache, lethargy, dizziness- more like light headed) and reported symptoms to health unit as advised to do. These lasted about 4 days then I started feeling like I had more energy. I still have a cough- 3 weeks later. Because "dizziness" wasn't on the list of symptoms and my fever never went above 37.4, I was not tested even though I had been in direct contact with 5 confirmed positives and another 3 presumptive positives (which don't make it into official positive counts) based on their symptoms and higher fever . In total there were 5 confirmed positives, 3 presumptive positives and another 3 who had minor symptoms that weren't taken seriously or tested. All cases seemed to be mild as none were hospitalized, fevers didn't go above 38.9, and symptoms only lasted a few days. I would say none of the people are overly athletic or physically fit, some have health issues, and age ranges are from 20's to 60's. Everyone is considered recovered.

I had posted about these and said they had become harder to find. This is an excellent price!

So glad you have all got through it ok.

Re the dizziness, I have had that amongst my bunch of symptoms. In fact I still feel a little unsteady almost four weeks later. My perspective is also slightly skewed. Maybe it has to do with sinus/ears and balance.

Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

My country has gone down to level 2 alert and has single digit new cases daily. My son was about to go to school today for the first time in months. But I've just come down with flu like symptoms, and he's been sneezing and has nasal congestion. We are both getting tested today, as recommended by my GP.

Looks like at least another 2 weeks of quarantine are in order.

Fingers crossed it's negative, but talk about terrible timing :(.

24 hours have passed and they haven't texted me the results yet. The waiting is nerve-wracking. On the upside I'm definitely feeling better than two days ago.

Results finally came back: negative!

Such a relief that it's just a boring old seasonal cold/flu. I've been getting plenty of rest and taking the usual meds, keeping hydrated etc. Hoping to be up and about by the end of the week.

Hurrah! Now you can "relax" a little mentally and that will hopefully speed your recovery. Look after yourself

Testing has come finally to small town East Tennessee! Friday May 22 is the day for all employees and residents to be tested at our skilled rehab/nursing home. Of the few tests we've had done, none have been positive yet.
