This goes a little more into detail of the hearing today. Still very little response from Lena, but Ralph took full responsibility of the drugs, and the article gives us a little affirmation of what we thought his personality might be like. What I don't understand is why she always drove him there? Did they pack up the car with all the kids and take them for a ride to the "head shop"?? :rollercoaster:

Guess some things I'll never understand. I know you shouldn't question things, but some people weren't blessed with children, and somehow those that care so little are multiple times?? Not only are the childless missing out, but so are all those poor children....

:(

Lunsford and her husband, Ralph, were caught with the drugs outside a Clarksburg paraphernalia shop. But Ralph testified Monday that the drugs were his, that he believed they were legal to buy, and that his wife didn't know he had them until the trooper approached the car.
"She didn't know what I was doing," he said. "I never told her I was going to buy it."

<snip> and

Trooper Dennis Cayton revealed that State Police have had the Lunsfords under steady surveillance since their daughter Aliayah vanished from the family's rented home in Bendale on Sept. 24.

<snip> and

Cayton said he and other officers have followed the couple on multiple visits to the Rosebud shopping plaza since Aliayah's disappearance. Lena Lunsford always drove, and Ralph Lunsford always entered the store.
On Nov. 1, Cayton said he anticipated where they were going and waited for them at the shop. Cayton said they arrived within five minutes, and when he later asked Ralph Lunsford what he'd bought, he produced a $52 package of bath salts from his wallet. The 500 mg pouch is touted as a combination of Viagra and the club drug Ecstasy.
Lena Lunsford didn't express any surprise about her husband's purchase, Cayton said.

from mahoolin's link http://www.wtov9.com/news/ap/crime/drug-counseling-ordered-for-missing-girls-mom/nFpJS/

These bits were the parts that stood out the most for me. First of all, RL fell on his sword for LL, and claimed she had no clue what he was going to buy.

Secondly, Cayton confirmed what we had all hoped, that both of these [unusual persons] have been under extreme surveillance for weeks (YAY). He further confirmed that the "head shop" was a regular stop for the couple, LL always driving, in these months since Aliayah was reported missing.

SO: This gives me some answers about where RL has been all these weeks. Apparently, not far from LL, she appears to be his regular taxi driver for "his" salt purchases. So they are still united as a front in their silence about exactly where Aliayah went (disheartening).

I am very disappointed by the lack of house arrest but remain hopeful that the complete dumbness of their post Aliayah missing behavior will continue and eventually they will be surveilled doing something really stupid which results in serious jail time.

Now, where the H E double Toothpicks is Aliayah?

Wow, those two must really think people are stupid. Why else would RL be going into a "head shop"? Lena knew why he was going there. And also, wonder where RL gets $52 to spend on bath salts? Neither one of them are working(as far as we know) And no more SNAP benefits to sell.

They may be waiting for the tests on the bath salts to see if they are illegal. Then RL may be arrested. Those bath salts must be a nightmare for LE. They don't know what is legal and what isn't until it's tested.

ETA directed at Melissasmoms post upthread regardin gwhere's the money come from for bath salts

that would be an excellent question and I'll bet the answers lie at some of their other stops along their little drives. The fact that they have been under near constant surveillance is really reassuring to me. I have a feeling that Cayton knows alot more about what RL has been up to and at some point that information may be used to charge him with something unrelated to Aliayah.

My thought is, they still have no evidence on Aliayah. Finding out what happened with her is LE's main focus. The SNAP charges and the bath salt charges evolved out of that ongoing surveillance. Who knows what else they have been seen doing. Also, with all the surveillance, I am betting LE is getting a pretty darn good idea of their associates.

A whole bunch of people could be on the receiving end of a whole lot of pressure down the road. MOO

IMHO the LAST thing RL needs is a sex drug! And how the heck she says she has no clue what was goin on is BS!

I believe she may have been "missing" before the 24th, however I don't think it could have been as far back as July, or even August. Wasn't she seen at the church picking out clothing (the princess shirt and little pink plaid shoes) not long before the 24th? I'm thinking maybe the week before? I will try to go back and find out the exact date.

:waitasec: Could this discrepancy have been clarified by one of more of the older children during interviews? Wonder if that's one of the reasons why they were removed from the home...

Not only did she drive around pretending to look for her, but maybe she didn't report her on the exact DAY?

How could someone WITH somewhere to go keep their children living in such tentative conditions? Dad spends at least 200 per month on drugs to "give him energy" instead of paying the rent?

I've read in other cases they often don't charge anyone involved with a crime until all is in place, but wouldn't there have been some type of charges stemming from CPS removing them? Or is it always just conditions to be met. In my family's case, the conditions came first, then jail after not met. (see my post on 11/23 for more info) Does anyone here think this is the first time CPS has been involved with this family?
(I may have missed previous notes on this)

I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and know that we (the public) aren't privy to everything, but in the case of a mom with not just one, but so many children and so many years to "wisen-up", sometimes I just want to :slapfight: some sense into her. Moms are supposed to save them from situations like this.

These children won't know the satisfaction of a job well done, the pride in getting and keeping a job - all they're learning is where the "head store", is and how to pick out what they can and can't buy with their food stamps. (nothing wrong with food stamps, but basing one's life on public assistance is no way to live) :( How can they make friends if they keep moving from town to town?? I'm so sad not just for Aliayah, but for all of them. :(

I need a faith transplant cause mine is flagging after today. Heck after the last few weeks with all the littles we are currently missing and their oddly acting parental units. But today especially.

I have to believe that something is gonna break soon for all these cases. I have to or I know some really worried WSers, myself included, who are gonna rail and scream and take to the streets.

This BS must end. I don't know how much more our poor hearts can take.

Time for a big ole :grouphug:

a deep breath

some heartfelt prayers

and faith, (wherefore art thou faith? Please don't fail me now)

"But Ralph Lunsford's testimony suggests he's been under scrutiny.

"I've been questioned by authorities day after day for the last month or two," he said when asked about the details of his discussion with Cayton earlier this month. "I can't remember every conversation."

and

"She takes me places and don't ask me questions about what I'm doing," he said."

I am not sure I have ever heard of eating them. Does anyone know if snorting or smoking constitutes ingesting? That is the way I have heard people use them. Granted I don't know much about these drugs and no one I know seems to know much about them either, but are they eaten??

some pretty disturbing possible side effects discussed here http://dailyfreepress.com/2011/02/2...-comporable-to-drugs-such-as-lsd-ecstasy-pcp/ scary scary stuff

The salts are not designated for human consumption, yet there have been hundreds of reported incidents of users snorting, smoking and even injecting the substances, according to a Feb. 14 American Association of Poison Control Centers press release.

Side effects of ingesting the salts, which have been compared to methamphetamine and cocaine, include increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, agitation, hallucinations, extreme paranoia and delusions, according to the press release.
“These products create a very severe paranoia that we believe could cause users to harm themselves or others,” said Mark Ryan, the director of the Louisiana Poison Control Center, in a press release.

Sad to see activity dwindling on this board for Aliayah. Her life was worth so much more.

Just catching up on this thread. Before I do, I want to let you know sometimes cases have lul's, but we at WS are like us diehard Chicago Cub fans. We don't give up on cases no matter how long it takes to solve them. Two of my pet cases are from the mid 1960's and early 1970's.

We are in this for the long haul for Aliayah, despite what may be occasional lul's in her case.

off to catch up on the thread now.

Something is weighing on my mind and I'm sure other folks have caught it too, but I'm wondering, since LL and RL can't live together, that doesn't say that they can't still talk or go out together, does it? I couldn't find anywhere where it said they weren't to have contact with each other, just that they can't live together. What good is that when there's still phones and meeting places? I'm just wondering as I can't find an answer to it anywhere. Blessings to all!

Jhessye's sibling found the courage to tell the truth about what had happened to her at Jerice Hunter's hands.

I have thought for a long time that the key finding out what happened to Aliayah may be found with her older sister's.

I hope these children feel safe and secure enough to speak out one day.

DuPage County Johnny Doe case comes to mind. A little unidentified 3-5 year old male boy tossed on the side of the road and found in a laundry bag. Mom AND Grandma were involved in the coverup. It was Atcel's 14 year old sibling who finally had the courage to talk to the school social worker. Sharing secrets the family had hidden.

Atcel's thread can be found here:

Identified! IL-"Dupage Johnny Doe" age 3-5 - Oct. 2005 - ATCEL - Page 10 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I can only pray if Aliayah's siblings have anything they have been afraid to share, to please know they CAN trust someone at school. A trusted adult, the social worker at school.

There are tons of people praying for not only Aliayah but her siblings too. They have extended family who have posted here who love them too. Please help find Aliayah, share what you know if you have anything you are holding back.

Caught up now. I'd like to know more about the conditions set on LL by the courts. What kind of 'drug counseling'? Inpatient rehab? Outpatient rehab? I hope one of the locals can get a copy of the minutes of todays hearing. Or perhaps MSM will get a copy of the minutes of todays hearing.

Personally, I don't think either of them will be succesful at rehab. Though maybe this really is their bottom... time will tell. In order to work a succesful 'program', they both need to pony up and confess to what really happened to Aliayah.

Maybe I misread, but I took the info posted (I did not open the msm links) to mean a no contact order. Meaning no contact at all. Maybe I am wrong. When my son is done with his homework, I'll catch up on the MSM links later this evening or tomorrow.

If she's living with her mother, she's doing outpatient rehab. I wonder if they are sending her to a methadone clinic? Is there one in the Weston area?

WAIT---I thought SHE didn't actually "do" the drugs. So why the heck is SHE goin to rehab? Whats WRONG with this picture?

She must have tested positive for something. Didn't the papers that the prosecuter filed say that he wanted her in rehab if she tested positive?

U.S. Magistrate Rejects Bid To Put Missing Girl's Mother On Home Confinement

Lena Lunsford was not talking outside the courtroom after federal prosecutors tried unsuccessfully to put her on home confinement and neither was her husband. But inside the Elkins federal courthouse Ralph Lunsford had just testified.
